Redskins ILB London Fletcher admits he never seriously considered retirement.
"I’m still playing at a high level, the team still wanted me to play," he said. "So, a lot of those things come into play." Despite Fletcher's assertion, his play has slipped in recent seasons. The Skins seem to value his leadership above all else. There's a good chance 2013 will be the 38-year-old's final season. May 24 - 1:12 PM

Redskins ILB London Fletcher (elbow surgery, ankle surgery) has resumed weightlifting.

Fletcher will likely get in very few offseason reps, but should be 100 percent by the time Week 1 rolls around. Going on 38 and entering the final year of his contract, there's a good chance 2013 will be Fletcher's last season.
Apr 24 - 3:38 PM

The Redskins will not ask ILB London Fletcher to restructure his contract.

Fletcher is owed $5.5 million in real money for 2013 and will count $6.2 million against the cap. It's a lot to pay for a 38-year-old that graded out 51st among 53 qualifying inside linebackers last season according to Pro Football Focus, but Fletcher's value stretches deeper. He's the quintessential team leader and defensive coordinator on the field for the Redskins.
Apr 9 - 10:38 AM

Redskins ILB London Fletcher has decided not to retire.

Fletcher will turn 38 in May, but is still playing at a high level. He's never missed a game in his 15-year career and posted 139 tackles last season while once again operating as the heart and soul of the Redskins' defense. He's decided to have ankle surgery Wednesday and an elbow cleanout later this month in order to stay in the game. It's safe to pencil Fletcher in as a solid LB2 in IDP formats once again.

Mar 6 - 8:21 AM

Redskins ILB London Fletcher says he'll return in 2013 if he can "get myself healthy enough to play."

"(If I can) play at the level I am capable of playing, I will be back," Fletcher said on NFL Network. It's essentially the same song Fletcher's been singing all offseason, though this is the first time he's definitively said he'll play if healthy. It's very hard to see Fletcher walking away from $5.5 million.
Feb 26 - 8:00 PM

Redskins ILB London Fletcher still hasn't decided whether he'll play in 2013.

"It’s still a process," Fletcher said. "(When) you get older in your career, you have to evaluate everything. Health is one thing. Can I still do it at the level that I want to do it at and play at?" Fletcher tallied a team-high 139 tackles last season, but struggled at times as he played through a host of minor injuries. He graded out as the third-worst inside linebacker in Pro Football Focus' ratings. He's under contract for $5.5 million. It's doubtful he walks away from that.
Feb 20 - 5:46 PM

Redskins GM Bruce Allen says ILB London Fletcher still has not informed the team on whether he plans to play in 2013.

Allen says Fletcher, 38 in May, has "three or four good years" left in him, so a retirement announcement seems unlikely. Fletcher played in his third Pro Bowl this past season, and he's still probably unwinding after a long season. Due $5.5 million in the final year of his deal, Fletcher hasn't missed a game in 15 years.
Feb 14 - 3:43 PM

London Fletcher has still not told his teammates if he'll be back next season.

Fletcher participated in last week's Pro Bowl, so he's still winding down and contemplating his decision. We'd be surprised if he the final verdict is retirement. Despite operating at age 37, Fletcher ranked eighth in the NFL in tackles, was the unquestioned leader of a team that won seven straight games to close the regular season and played in all 16 games for the 15th consecutive year. He's also due $5.5 million in 2013.
Jan 30 - 9:33 AM

Redskins ILB London Fletcher is unsure whether he will return for a 16th season in 2013.

"I'll take some time," said Fletcher, "to let the emotions of the season kind of get away, refresh a little bit and then sit down with my family and make the decision." The 37-year-old is signed for one more season at $5.5 million. He's still playing at a high level, leading the Redskins with 15 tackles, half a sack and a pass deflection in Sunday's season-ending loss.
Jan 7 - 8:20 AM

Redskins ILB London Fletcher (ankle) is listed as questionable for Monday night against the Giants.

Fletcher and Trent Williams (thigh) were limited in practice Friday and Saturday, but there's been no indication that they won't be available. Fletcher has played in 236 straight games.

Redskins ILB London Fletcher is "uncertain" for Thursday's game against the Cowboys.

It sounds like Fletcher has avoided a high-ankle sprain, but the NFL's defensive iron man has just three days to heal up for Week 12. Although Fletcher has yet to miss a game this season, he's dealt with numerous injuries. Lorenzo Alexander will start against the Cowboys if Fletcher can't go.

Redskins ILB London Fletcher exited with a left ankle injury in first quarter of Sunday's game versus the Eagles.

Special teams ace Lorenzo Alexander has come on to replace Fletcher, who walked off the field under his own power after a few moments on the turf. Fletcher returned to the game in the second quarter.

Redskins ILB London Fletcher (hamstring) emerged from Sunday's Week 8 loss to the Steelers setback-free.

Fletcher extended his remarkable consecutive games played streak to 232 with ease. "I've had some games where just from an injury standpoint, it was tough to play," he said. "But this wasn't the most difficult for me." Fletcher posted six tackles.

London Fletcher (hamstring) is active and will start on Sunday against the Steelers.

Fletcher's 231 consecutive games streak lives on. After his status was in serious doubt early in the week, the 37-year-old Fletcher made considerable progress on Friday with a full practice. Washington declared WR Pierre Garcon, FS Brandon Meriweather, OLs Josh LeRibeus and Adam Gettis, DE Doug Worthington, QB Rex Grossman and CB Richard Crawford inactive for Week 8.

Redskins ILB London Fletcher (hamstring, questionable) is expected to play on Sunday against the Steelers.

Fletcher's 231 consecutive games streak will likely live on. The 37-year-old ageless wonder has been "feeling better" and "prepping normally" after practicing fully on Friday. Redskins beat reporter John Keim also believes Fletcher will suit up and give it a go. He's a game-time decision for Week 8.
