Former Panthers K John Kasay retired.
Kasay, 43, joined Carolina ahead of their inaugural 1995 season and spent 15 of his 20 NFL seasons with the club. He went to one Pro Bowl, one Super Bowl and ranks sixth all-time in field goals made with 461. Only Morten Anderson, Gary Anderson, Jason Hanson, John Carney and Matt Stover have made more. Kasay will eventually find himself in the Panthers' ring of honor. Tue, May 7, 2013 09:17:00 AM

Saints released K John Kasay.

Garrett Hartley proved his health, which meant Kasay never had a chance. Hartley is 17 years younger and has four years left on his contract. He'll be a strong fantasy kicking option for fantasy owners.

Garrett Hartley is expected to enter training camp as the Saints' first-team kicker, with John Kasay "nipping on his heels."

Fully recovered from last year's hip injury, Hartley was "booting field goals with authority" in spring practices. The Saints have stayed with Hartley and his strong, accurate leg through several ups and downs. It's hard to imagine the 42-year-old Kasay winning out unless Hartley gets a case of the "yips" in preseason action.

Saints re-signed K John Kasay.

Kasay converted 28-of-34 field-goal attempts last season, but the 21-year veteran is likely returning only as a camp leg behind Garrett Hartley.

John Kasay is expected to be the Saints' kicker for the rest of the season.

Garrett Hartley (hip) was placed on injured reserve this week. Kasay is 6-of-6 on the season so far, including a 53-yarder against the Bears in Week 2. As a dome kicker supported by a high-powered offense, Kasay is a fine fantasy option.

Coach Sean Payton suggested that K John Kasay's roster spot is not in jeopardy after missing two kicks Thursday night.

A rusty Kasay missed left on a 39-yard field goal and a point-after before converting a 38-yarder late in the game. "I thought that third kick was critical," Payton said. "I thought it was important for his own confidence."

Saints agreed to terms with K John Kasay, formerly of the Panthers.

The 41-year-old Kasay must look spry compared to usual fall-back option John Carney. Kasay is being signed for insurance after Garrett Hartley came down with a hip tweak in Monday night's game. At this point, Hartley is not expected to miss regular-season action.

The Saints will sign K John Kasay, formerly of the Panthers, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Saints kicker Garrett Hartley is nursing a hip injury that coach Sean Payton says is minor. Kasay looks like a camp leg for the fourth preseason game unless Hartley's condition worsens.

Panthers informed K John Kasay of his impending release.

It's the end of an era in Carolina. Kasay is the only field goal kicker in Panthers history, starting out under Dom Capers in 1995. He's still an effective short field-goal artist, drilling at least 80 percent of his kicks in each of the past five seasons. Turning 42 in October, Kasay is expected to consider retirement. The Panthers are moving on from kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd as well.

Panthers K John Kasay hinted that he'd like to continue playing in 2011.

Kasay, who turned 41 in October, is under contract through 2012. He made 25-of-29 field goals this season, including 3-of-4 from 50-plus yards. He's still an exellent kicker, but the Panthers' offense limited his fantasy outlook.

Panthers K John Kasay drilled all three field goals, including a game-winning 37-yarder with 29 seconds left, to give the Panthers their first win of the 2010 season.

The 40-year-old kicker also hit field goals of 47 and 55 yards in addition to two PATs. The Carolina offense looks more fluid with Matt Moore as opposed to Jimmy Clausen under center, which should translate to more opportunities for Kasay moving forward. His next game is an appealing matchup inside the Edward Jones Dome at St. Louis Week 8.

Panthers K John Kasay (groin) returned to a full practice Wednesday.

There was some concern that Kasay might miss Week 9 because of his injury, but he made both of his field goal attempts and both of his extra points. Kasay still isn't a great fantasy option, as he's attempted just 11 field goals all season, which ranks 22nd in the league.

Panthers K John Kasay (groin) missed practice again on Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Kasay has a fairly inviting matchup in the Superdome in what could be a high-scoring affair, but there's no sense in using a hurt kicker. We'll know if Kasay is going to kick if Carolina doesn't sign a replacement before Sunday.

Panthers K John Kasay (groin) missed Panthers practice Thursday.

This is the first we've heard of the injury. Kasay had his best game of the season last week, converting both his field goals and all four of his extra points. Even if Kasay plays this week, you can do better for your fantasy kicker. The Panthers offense isn't strong enough.

Panthers K John Kasay missed 39-yard and 43-yard field goals in the Week 7 loss to the Bills.

Kasay, who will turn 40 Tuesday, is normally one of the most reliable kickers in the league. Last season he was 27-for-28 from 49 yards out or less. But with the Panthers' offense sputtering and a quarterback change possible, Kasay is best left on waivers.
