Rich Gannon officially announced his retirement.

A veteran of 18 seasons, Gannon spent bounced around the league for eleven years before hooking up with Jon Gruden for a magical run in Oakland. The 2002 NFL MVP will work in the broadcast booth this season for CBS.

Raiders placed Rich Gannon on injured reserve with a neck injury.

Saints defensive end Tony Bryant suffered a similar injury to Gannon and returned to the field. But it took Bryant nearly two years to recover and we can't see Gannon making that kind of committment at his age. His career, which finally flourished in Oakland, is likely over.
