Former Bears and Bills guard Ruben Brown announced his retirement from football.
He tried to latch on with a team at age 36 last season, but found no takers. Brown made nine Pro Bowls, including eight consecutive between 1996 and 2003. However, he never earned an All-Pro bid. Brown will likely get some Hall of Fame consideration, but ultimately we're betting he'll fall just short. Mon, Feb 2, 2009 10:29:00 PM

It's not a major loss because Brown wasn't playing well and Metcalf has starting experience.
