Bears WLB Lance Briggs is expected to wear a harness on his left shoulder this season.
A fracture in Briggs' left shoulder cost him seven games last season, one of the reasons the Bears posted the league's worst run defense by a wide margin. The harness will be precautionary. Briggs projects as a safe, but not exciting IDP option again this season. He's had triple-digit tackles in 8-of-11 NFL campaigns. Apr 21 - 8:29 AM

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (shoulder) returned to a full practice Friday and has been cleared by doctors to play at Philadelphia.

Briggs would be a dicey IDP bet in fantasy title week because it's unclear whether he'll play a full dose of snaps. Officially, he's a game-time decision.

Bears coach Marc Trestman is "optimistic" WLB Lance Briggs (shoulder) will play in Sunday night's game against the Eagles.

Briggs resumed practicing last week and participated Wednesday on a limited basis. Barring a setback, he should finally be cleared to return in Week 16.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (shoulder) is targeting Week 16 for his return.

Recovering from a fractured shoulder, Briggs returned to practice on a limited basis this week. He won't play against the Browns, but has a chance to play against the Eagles. The Bears have been using rookie Khaseem Greene at weak-side linebacker in the meantime, and Greene has struggled mightily.

Bears coach Marc Trestman is "not optimistic" WLB Lance Briggs (shoulder) will play in Week 15 against the Browns.

Briggs still hasn't gained clearance to resume practicing and remains week to week. The Bears have allowed running backs to go over 100 yards in six straight games without Briggs and desperately need him to get healthy. Given a 4-6 week timetable in Week 7, it's possible Briggs is dealing with a setback.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (shoulder) still hasn't gained medical clearance.

Briggs fractured his left shoulder in Week 7 and was slapped with a 4-6 week timetable. His injury is taking far longer to heal than expected. Meanwhile, the Bears defense is getting absolutely gashed against the run, allowing opposing running backs to go over 100 yards in six straight games.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 14.

Per coach Marc Trestman, Briggs will be re-evaluated "early next week." Briggs is officially behind schedule, as he was given a 4-6 week timetable upon going down in Week 7. For the sake of Chicago's run defense, Briggs can't return soon enough.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 12.

Coach Marc Trestman told reporters Briggs remains "a couple weeks away" from returning to action. Instead of using rookie Khaseem Greene as Briggs' full-time replacement in Week 11, Chicago employed two-linebacker packages and still got destroyed by the Ravens' running game. They face Zac Stacy next.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 11.

Briggs injured his shoulder in Week 7 and was hoping to beat his 4-6 week timetable, but he's not going to play Sunday against the Ravens. Khaseem Greene will continue to replace him in the starting lineup.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (shoulder) said he expects to beat his 4-6 week timetable.

Briggs separated his shoulder in Week 7. "The way injuries go, the doctors said I'm supposed to be out 4-6 weeks," he said. "I feel more like I'll be out 2-3 (weeks). We'll meet somewhere in the middle." Even with their All-Pro Briggs, the Bears defense was ranked 27th in yards allowed per game and 29th in points. Aaron Rodgers and Eddie Lacy are going to have a feast on Monday night.

A source tells ProFootballtalk that Bears LB Lance Briggs (shoulder) is out 4-6 weeks.

Briggs' injury did not look serious when it happened Sunday as he didn't appear to be in much pain and was announced as "probable" to return. Further testing revealed a fracture in his shoulder. It's yet another blow to a Bears defense that has been decimated by injury and currently ranks 25th in total defense. Briggs, a seven-time Pro Bowler, led them in tackles (64), tackles for a loss (8), forced fumbles (2) and sacks (2). Chicago has a unit to attack from a fantasy perspective.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs' Week 12 ankle injury is not believed to be serious.

Briggs left Soldier Field with a walking boot on his right foot following Sunday's win over the Vikings. It sounds like the boot was precautionary. The Bears play the Seahawks in Week 13, and Briggs should be all systems go.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs' one-year extension essentially gives him a brand new three-year, $17.5 million contract.

The two years on Briggs' old deal were essentially ripped up. He gets a $3 million signing bonus, a base salary of $3 million, and a $250,000 workout bonus all in the first year. Briggs has a $4.25 million base salary in 2013, of which $2 million is guaranteed. Briggs got a bit more first-year money in exchange for sacrificing some of his future non-guaranteed base salaries. He's all but locked in with the Bears through the 2013 campaign.

Bears signed WLB Lance Briggs to a one-year extension through 2014.

Briggs has been asking for a new contract for the past several years. The new deal likely includes an up-front bump, in addition to keeping him under the Bears' control through his age-33 season. Still playing at a high level, Briggs has been to seven straight Pro Bowls and last year graded out as a top-eight run-defending 4-3 outside linebacker, according to Pro Football Focus. Briggs has cleared the century mark for tackles in seven of the last eight years.
