Bears WLB Lance Briggs' Week 12 ankle injury is not believed to be serious.
Briggs left Soldier Field with a walking boot on his right foot following Sunday's win over the Vikings. It sounds like the boot was precautionary. The Bears play the Seahawks in Week 13, and Briggs should be all systems go. Sun, Nov 25, 2012 08:04:00 PM

Bears WLB Lance Briggs left Soldier Field following Sunday's Week 12 win with a walking boot on his right foot.

There are no further details available about the injury. Briggs racked up seven tackles (five solo) against the Vikings and has forced four turnovers this year.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs' one-year extension essentially gives him a brand new three-year, $17.5 million contract.

The two years on Briggs' old deal were essentially ripped up. He gets a $3 million signing bonus, a base salary of $3 million, and a $250,000 workout bonus all in the first year. Briggs has a $4.25 million base salary in 2013, of which $2 million is guaranteed. Briggs got a bit more first-year money in exchange for sacrificing some of his future non-guaranteed base salaries. He's all but locked in with the Bears through the 2013 campaign.

Bears signed WLB Lance Briggs to a one-year extension through 2014.

Briggs has been asking for a new contract for the past several years. The new deal likely includes an up-front bump, in addition to keeping him under the Bears' control through his age-33 season. Still playing at a high level, Briggs has been to seven straight Pro Bowls and last year graded out as a top-eight run-defending 4-3 outside linebacker, according to Pro Football Focus. Briggs has cleared the century mark for tackles in seven of the last eight years.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs remains "hopeful" that the team will acquiesce to his request for a pay raise after the season.

Named to his seventh consecutive Pro Bowl, Briggs leads the Bears with 140 tackles and is tied for the team lead with eight tackles for loss. He had requested both a raise and a trade before the season. Now 31, Briggs is due to earn roughly $4 million in 2012.

GM Jerry Angelo said the Bears will not be trading WLB Lance Briggs or giving him a contract extension until after the season.

Briggs formally submitted a trade request last week, but it's falling on deaf ears. He has three years left on his contract and no leverage in the matter. "What he's doing is not something that hasn't been done here in Chicago and around the league," Angelo said. Meanwhile, Briggs says nothing has changed for him on the field as he continues preparations for Sunday's opener against the Falcons.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus has formally submitted a trade request on behalf of Bears WLB Lance Briggs.

Briggs has three years left on a six-year deal he signed as an unrestricted free agent in 2008. In other words, the Bears have all the leverage here. Briggs says he is going to keep playing despite the trade demand and the Bears would never get equal value for the six-time Pro Bowler on the open market.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs has requested a pay raise.

Set to make $3.65 million this season and $13.65 million through 2013, Briggs has reportedly "made it clear he will demand a trade if he doesn't get a new deal before the season ends." Coming off his sixth Pro Bowl selection, Briggs has missed Chicago's past two preseason games with a bruised knee. He'll turn 31 in November.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs has pulled out of the Pro Bowl due to injury.

Briggs at least has dealt with an ankle injury for much of the season, so he has more of an excuse to not make the trip to Hawaii than teammate Brian Urlacher, who also pulled out. Still, it's clear Briggs just wants some rest. He'll be replaced on the roster by the Panthers' Jon Beason.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (ankle) returned to practice Monday.

Briggs has been dealing with an ankle injury since training camp and aggravated it in Week 7 before the bye week. He's expected to suit up this weekend, but re-injury is certainly possible.

Bears coach Lovie Smith expects WLB Lance Briggs (ankle) to be ready for Week 9 after the team's Week 8 bye.

Briggs aggravated his ankle injury in the loss to the Redskins in Week 7. Ryan Torain went off after Briggs left, showing how important the linebacker is to the defense.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs is out for the game Sunday after aggravating his ankle injury.

The Bears run defense has kept to Ryan Torian to 3.2 yards per on 10 first-half carries. Briggs will use the Bears' Week 8 bye to rest up for a return in Week 9 against the Bills.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (ankle) is active against the Redskins in Week 7, as expected.

It's not good news for Ryan Torain's matchup, as Briggs and Brian Urlacher have played at a very high level this season. Bears inactives: QB Todd Collins, TE Desmond Clark, S Major Wright, RB Kahlil Bell, CB Zackary Bowman, OG Roberto Garza, DE Corey Wooten, and DT Marcus Harrison.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (ankle) is expected to return to the starting lineup in Week 7 against the Redskins.

It's not good news for Washington's running game. Briggs has been a beast when healthy this year. Career special teamer Brian Iwuh had 10 tackles in Briggs' place in Week 6, but many of his plays were made down the field.

Bears WLB Lance Briggs (ankle) is inactive for Week 6 against the Seahawks.

Journeyman special teamer Brian Iwuh is the next man up for the Bears on the weakside. Consider it a matchup upgrade for Marshawn Lynch, a borderline RB2 this week. Other Bears inactives: FS Major Wright, OG Roberto Garza, DL Charles Grant, RB Kahlil Bell, DT Marcus Harrison, QB Todd Collins, and CB Joshua Moore.
