Colts released TE Bryan Fletcher.
Another unanticipated move, and one Peyton Manning probably won't approve of. Fletcher was a consistent performer for the Colts, catching 18 passes in each of the past three years as a No. 3 tight end. GM Bill Polian apparently feels comfortable with Jacob Tamme and Tom Santi behind Dallas Clark. Fri, May 2, 2008 10:35:00 PM

Colts signed restricted free agent TE Bryan Fletcher to a one-year, $927,000 contract.

Fletcher, 29, has caught 18 passes in each of the last three seasons as Indy's third-string TE. With Ben Utecht gone, he is now Dallas Clark's backup. If Clark gets hurt, the athletic tight end could be worth a pickup in 2008.

The Patriots have formally asked the NFL to ensure the safety of their employees when the Colts and their dangerous president Bill Polian visit in November.

The Pats are clearly tweaking Polian, who had to write an apology to a Jets employee earlier this month after shoving him before a Week 4 game. Polian and the Patriots have a long feud going back to before the Colts pushed for a "rules emphasis" for illegal contact after the 2003 AFC Championship.
