Ex-Bears RB Adrian Peterson has signed on with the UFL's Virginia Destroyers.
The pride of Paul Johnson's Georgia Southern program a decade ago, Peterson has just seven NFL carries since the 2008 season. Turning 32 in July, the former special teams ace is a longshot to resurface in the NFL. Wed, Jun 15, 2011 12:19:00 PM

Seahawks released RB Adrian Peterson and LB Alvin Bowen.

Bowen lasted four days on the roster, holding down the fifth spot on the tailback depth chart until Louis Rankin got healthy. Bowen was a camp body.

Seahawks signed RB Adrian Peterson and waived WR Matt Simon.

Peterson, 31, lacks ideal explosiveness for a third-down back, but that's pretty much the only offensive role he's capable of. He can also cover kicks. He'll have to beat out Quinton Ganther and Louis Rankin to make the roster.

The Bears are not expected to re-sign unrestricted free agent Adrian Peterson.

Now 30 years old, Peterson has lost explosiveness as a runner and receiver. The Bears no longer trust him as a backup running back, so he's limited to special teams duties. Injury-prone Kevin Jones is entering the final year of his contract, but Khalil Bell enters the offseason as the No. 2 back behind Matt Forte.

Adrian Peterson doesn't expect to be back with the Bears next season.

The Bears have lost Kevin Jones and Garrett Wolfe for the season and Peterson still hasn't gotten the backup running back work. That job went to practice squad callup Kahlil Bell. Peterson's contract is up at the end of the year.

Adrian Peterson (knee) has returned to practice and is expected to play this week against the Browns.

Garrett Wolfe remains Matt Forte's primary backup, so Peterson will be limited to special teams duty.

Bears coach Lovie Smith did not sound optimistic about Adrian Peterson (knee) being ready for Sunday's game against the Browns.

Peterson is well behind his original recovery period from the sprained right knee. The Bears are ranked 29th in the league in rushing yards per game, but it's unlikely Peterson could do anything to change that. Garrett Wolfe is still Matt Forte's backup.

Adrian Peterson (knee) will not play on Sunday in Cincinnati.

Peterson was injured in Week 4 against Detroit and was targeting a Week 7 return. Well, that game is here and Peterson will not be participating, but the Bears' struggling rushing attack could use him. Garrett Wolfe will remain Matt Forte's primary backup.

Bears RB Adrian Peterson will miss "at least" 2-3 weeks with a strained MCL in his right knee, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Chicago has a bye in Week 5, so Peterson may only miss one game. He's likely targeting Week 7 against the Bengals to return. In the Bears' Week 6 game against Atlanta, Garrett Wolfe will serve as Matt Forte's primary backup.

Bears coach Lovie Smith indicated Monday that RB Adrian Peterson's knee injury is not serious.

"He should be OK," Smith said, reiterating that Peterson's knee is merely sprained. This probably means an MRI confirmed to ligament damage in the backup's knee. Peterson has the Week 5 bye to get back near full strength.

The Bears are initially calling RB Adrian Peterson's knee injury a "sprain."

This is before an MRI, which could reveal ligament damage. Peterson was unable to return to Sunday's win after going down in the second quarter.

Bears RB Adrian Peterson is out for the rest of Sunday's game with a knee injury.

Peterson didn't touch the football before exiting, and the extent of his injury is unknown. Special teamer Garrett Wolfe is next on the depth chart.

Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner said he went with Adrian Peterson over Garrett Wolfe as the No. 2 back last Sunday because Peterson matched up better with the physical Steelers defense.

Starter Matt Forte is getting spelled for a couple series a game. In Week 1, it was Wolfe. If Forte was to go down, neither backup would provide much fantasy value.

The Bears followed through on their promise to reduce Matt Forte's workload slightly, giving Adrian Peterson significant snaps in Week 2.

Peterson had three carries and also caught two passes. Garrett Wolfe didn't have any carries, so Peterson is looking like the handcuff to Forte right now.

Bears RB Adrian Peterson could be on the roster bubble this summer.

With Kevin Jones expected to be Matt Forte's main backup and Chicago still hoping Garrett Wolfe will develop into a ball-carrying option, Peterson looks to be fourth string at the moment. His special teams play declined in 2008.
