Free agent G/T Scott Kooistra (spinal cord surgery) has yet to gain medical clearance to resume his football career.

Vikings G/T Scott Kooistra underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a spinal cord injury.

It must have been a serious procedure, as his agent says they're "praying for a full recovery." As a 30-year-old journeyman with one start in eight seasons, Kooistra's football career could be over. He went on injured reserve yesterday.

Vikings placed G/T Scott Kooistra on injured reserve with a "jammed neck," ending his season.

Coach Leslie Frazier called the injury "significant," and Kooistra didn't make the flight home from Seattle after Minnesota's second preseason game. It's another blow to one of the NFL's worst offensive lines. Kooistra had a real chance to start at right guard with Anthony Herrera potentially on the outs.

After working out more than a half-dozen offensive linemen Tuesday, the Ravens opted to go with Kooistra's versatility. He'll add depth with Jared Gaither (back) still out indefinitely.
