Saints released K Shayne Graham.
It's a surprise after the 37-year-old Graham converted 19-of-22 field goals last season, and re-signed for $970,000 in February. The Saints are now left with just Dustin Hopkins and Zach Hocker at kicker. Hocker was a seventh-round pick of the Redskins last season, while Hopkins was picked by the Bills in 2013. Hopkins has the stronger pedigree, but a groin injury derailed his Bills career. He'll be the favorite to replace Graham. May 19 - 3:09 PM

The Saints are currently carrying three kickers on their roster.

Veteran Shayne Graham is facing competition in the form of Zach Hocker and Dustin Hopkins. It's a job the 37-year-old Graham shouldn't have trouble winning after hitting 86.3 percent of his field goals for the Saints last year. However, volume is an issue for fantasy owners as evidenced by his No. 24 fantasy finish at the kicker position.

Saints re-signed K Shayne Graham to a one-year contract.

Graham turned 37 this past December, but connected on 19-of-22 field goal attempts last year and should have job security throughout the offseason.

Coach Sean Payton said the reason Shayne Graham was released at final cuts was because "we had to buy time with the IR."

Payton said that Graham "clearly" beat out Derek Dimke to win the job and the team knew he would be back. It suggests they weren't out looking for an upgrade. Graham, who went 4-of-4 in the preseason and is an 85.5 percent kicker in his career, will be a strong fantasy play against the Falcons Sunday.

Saints re-signed K Shayne Graham.

Graham and Derek Dimke were both cut loose over the weekend, but the Saints couldn't find a better option on the open market. Graham is likely returning for slightly less than the $955,000 he was originally scheduled to make. A career 85.5-percent field-goal kicker, Graham will be a weekly K1 for the Saints' high-powered offense.

Saints released/waived K Shayne Graham and K Derek Dimke.

The moves leave the Saints without a kicker on the roster. They will look to the waiver wire for a veteran option. Graham went 6-for-8 for the Saints last season after replacing the struggling Garrett Hartley.

Shayne Graham is considered the heavy favorite for the Saints' placekicking job.

Graham, a 13-year veteran, is battling 24-year-old Derek Dimke, who has never appeared in an NFL game. At the kicking position, experience typically wins out. Graham will be a fine fantasy kicking option as a dome kicker in an explosive offense.

Saints re-signed K Shayne Graham to a one-year contract.

The Saints finally threw in the towel on Garrett Hartley in 2013, replacing him with 36-year-old Graham. Graham missed from 45 and 48 yards in New Orleans' Divisional Round loss to Seattle, but went 6-for-6 in his other three games with the team. Assuming Graham beats out Derek Dimke -- and he should with ease -- he'll be in the fantasy football conversation in 2014.

Saints signed K Shayne Graham.

Graham worked out for the Saints last month when they were browsing free-agent kickers with Garrett Hartley struggling. Hartley never improved and was cut Tuesday. Graham spent a week with the Steelers earlier this season but never attempted a kick. He made 31-of-38 field goals for the Texans last season.

The Saints worked out free agent Ks Shayne Graham, Derek Dimke and Neil Rackers on Tuesday.

With Garrett Hartley's missed field goals mounting, the Saints are at least updating their emergency list. Hartley is 16-of-22 on the season.

Free agents Ks Shayne Graham, Neil Rackers, and Justin Medlock will try out for the Texans on Tuesday.

Texans K Randy Bullock missed three field goals Sunday night -- the second time he's missed three kicks in a game this season -- and is just 13-of-21 on the season. Graham and Rackers have previously kicked for Houston.

Steelers released K Shayne Graham.

CB Isaiah Green was promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. Graham was no longer needed with K Shaun Suisham (hamstring) back to full health.

Steelers signed K Shayne Graham, formerly of the Browns.

35-year-old Graham will replace Shaun Suisham, who has a hamstring injury.

Browns released K Shayne Graham and K Brandon Bogotay.

Like a fantasy owner playing it smart ahead of Week 1, the Browns have left themselves with no kicker for now. Graham, who was just 11-of-18 from 41+ out last season, went 3-of-3 in the preseason.
Sat, Aug 31, 2013 06:00:00 PM

ESPN's Jamison Hensley suggests the Browns could keep both Shayne Graham and Brandon Bogotay on their final roster.

Graham is one of the best kickers in the NFL from inside 40 yards, but he hit just 11-of-18 from 41+ last season for the Texans. He also struggles on kickoffs. Bogotay, who was Blair Walsh's backup at Georgia, has the big leg. Even if the Browns' offense takes a leap forward, fantasy owners should be looking elsewhere for their kicker.
