He finishes with 10 receptions for 73 yards and one touchdown in seven games. Heiden has been a Brown since 2002, but his career with the team will probably end in the offseason. The 33-year-old is due a $900,000 base salary in 2010 and has finished back-to-back seasons on injured reserve.

Browns TE Steve Heiden practiced for the first time Monday without a red jersey to limit his contact.

Heiden had major knee surgery in December and has likely lost his starting job to Robert Royal. But at least he's full cleared to compete now.

According to, Steve Heiden is a slight favorite over Robert Royal to be the Browns' No. 1 tight end.

We doubt this is true. Royal signed a nice contract in the offseason to be the team's starting tight end. Heiden is coming off major knee surgery. Neitherfigures to have much of a fantasy impact. Martin Rucker is the best receiver among the Browns' tight ends and should be on the field on passing downs.

Browns TE Steve Heiden (ACL, MCL surgery) expects to be cleared for practice when training camp begins in two weeks.

Heiden may be limited to one practice a day, but he's still ahead of schedule after undergoing the reconstructive surgery in December. More of a role player, Heiden resides behind Martin Rucker and Robert Royal in the fantasy pecking order.

Browns TE Steve Heiden (ACL, MCL surgery) isn't sure if he'll be ready for training camp.

"I have no timeline," said Heiden. "When [the doctor] says, I'm going. I'll try to push him to go as soon as I can. I want to play football. I don't know when that's going to be."

The Browns offensive coaches reportedly "love" TE Steve Heiden.

Heiden is a quality role player, but he's coming off late-season surgery to both his ACL and MCL and is a long shot for fantasy value in 2009. Martin Rucker is the best bet to emerge as the pass-catching tight end in Cleveland.

Browns TE Steve Heiden had both his ACL and MCL surgically repaired on Thursday.

Heiden is signed for near the minimum in 2009, but this won't be easy for the 32-year-old to recover from. He's very questionable for training camp next summer. It may increase the odds that Cleveland keeps Kellen Winslow.

Steve Heiden caught four balls for 29 yards against the Titans in Week 14.

Heiden was uninvolved early, racking up the four catches in garbage time. Martin Rucker didn't see a target, so Heiden appears to be the best tight end option in Cleveland.

Tight end Steve Heiden caught three passes for 15 yards against the Colts in Week 13.

Heiden exactly matched the production of Kellen Winslow, who left with an injury. He'll be the starter if Winslow remains out, but will be a long shot to duplicate Winslow's production.
