Bengals declared FS Chris Crocker, CB Jason Allen, TE Richard Quinn, WR Dane Sanzenbacher, DTs Devon Still and Brandon Thompson, and RB Dan Herron inactive for Saturday's Wild Card game versus the Texans.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis (hamstring, probable) is active, as expected. Crocker is dealing with a quadriceps injury, and Nate Clements will get the start next to Reggie Nelson. Allen has a hamstring injury of his own. The other five inactives have found themselves there all season long. Jan 5 - 3:05 PM

Bengals FS Chris Crocker (quadricep) is listed as doubtful for the Wild Card Round.

Crocker figures to be replaced by ex-corner Nate Clements, who was benched after midseason following a failed conversion to safety. It's a concern for the way the Bengals will defend Texans TEs Owen Daniels and Garrett Graham.

Bengals S Chris Crocker suffered a quad injury in Sunday's game against the Ravens and is doubtful to return.

Crocker was replaced in the lineup by Taylor Mays. The injury could loom large for playoff implications, as Mays is susceptible to the pass. We'll know more about Crocker's injury as the week progresses. Entering Week 17, he had started eight games and recorded 40 tackles, five pass break-ups, and three interceptions.

Bengals re-signed S Chris Crocker.

Crocker has been on the street since the Bengals released him way back April. If his troublesome knees are right, he will provide some veteran depth in a secondary dealing with injuries to both of their starting corners.

Free agent S Chris Crocker is visiting the Lions and Cardinals this week.

Crocker is in Detroit today before heading to Arizona on Wednesday. There's a chance he could visit the 49ers as well. The 32-year-old was released last month after starting 38 games in Cincinnati over the past three seasons.

Bengals released S Chris Crocker.

The Bengals say it's a durability issue, not a talent issue. Crocker is entering his age-32 season with three consecutive years of nagging knee injuries. A 38-game starter in Cincinnati, Crocker graded out below average in coverage and run support by Pro Football Focus for 2011. Outside of corner/safety hybrid Jason Allen, the Bengals have no proven depth beyond Reggie Nelson at safety. Alabama's Mark Barron could be an option in the first round.

Bengals FS Chris Crocker underwent a "procedure" on his right knee after the season.

Crocker has had knee problems since tearing his right MCL and PCL in November of 2010. He rarely practiced on Wednesdays in 2011. Crocker turns 32 in March and is due a $1.92 million salary. The Bengals need to begin thinking about long-term replacements, but for now Crocker seems likely to return in 2012.

Bengals FS Chris Crocker (torn MCL, PCL) has been cleared to resume football activities.

Crocker missed the last six games of the season with the knee injury. He insists he'd be ready to play "tomorrow" if there was a game. The Bengals figure to address the safety position this offseason, but Crocker should keep his starting job.

Bengals placed FS Chris Crocker on injured reserve with a torn MCL and PCL, ending his season.

Crocker finishes with 43 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles, but no interceptions. He was enjoying one of his best seasons as a cover safety, and his recovery from this injury shouldn't threaten the 30-year-old's effectiveness going forward. Torn MCLs typically heal without reconstructive surgery. Crocker is under contract in 2011 for $1.75 million.

Bengals FS Chris Crocker (knee) appears likely to be done for the season, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Crocker left Sunday's loss to the Bills early in the second quarter. He was one of four defensive backs that went down, leading to the Bills' 35 point outburst in the second half. The Bengals' secondary is quickly going from one that was feared to one that should be attacked in fantasy circles.

Bengals FS Chris Crocker left Sunday's game in the second quarter with a right knee injury.

Crocker was holding his knee and rocking his body in obvious pain. His knee had a unnatural "whiplash" effect as he was flying through the air, an indication that the injury is likely to be serious. The Bengals had already lost SS Roy Williams to a concussion.

Chris Crocker left Monday's Week 9 game with a left calf injury.

It looked as though Crocker tried to return to the game following the injury, but ultimately had to be sidelined. His return is questionable, and he was replaced by Reggie Nelson.
Mon, Nov 8, 2010 11:18:00 PM

Bengals FS Chris Crocker was assisted off the field in the first quarter of Sunday's Hall of Fame game with a right ankle injury.

The club immediately said he wouldn't return. Crocker's ankle problems date back to December of last season, and he had arthroscopic surgery on one of his ankles in February. It's unclear if he's aggravated the same one.

Bengals FS Chris Crocker (ankle surgery) hopes to return to the practice field in time for the upcoming minicamp.

After missing the final three regular season games with an ankle injury, Crocker underwent surgery in February. The 30-year-old veteran will receive competition for his starting job this year with the Bengals' recent signing of Gibril Wilson.

Bengals FS Chris Crocker is recovering from arthroscopic ankle surgery.

Crocker missed Cincy's last three regular season games with an ankle injury, but returned for the team's first-round playoff loss. He will be cleared before OTAs. Crocker finished 2009 with 51 tackles and nine pass breakups.
