Bills ILB Andra Davis (torn labrum) was just cleared last week to resume football activities.

Davis has been rehabbing for three months after tearing the labrum in November. It sounds like he avoided surgery and will be good to go for offseason workouts. Davis is expected to keep his starting job entering the 2011 season.

Bills assistant head coach/linebackers Dave Wannstedt expects ILBs Andra Davis and Paul Posluszny to return for the 2011 season.

Davis is signed for $1.1 million. Posluszny is a free agent, though he stated at the end of the season that he wants to return to Buffalo to "see this thing through." The Bills will likely add linebacker talent in the draft, but it looks like Davis will open the season as a starter.

Bills coach Chan Gailey is unsure if ILB Andra Davis will need surgery to repair a torn labrum.

Gailey concedes it's a possibility but wouldn't commit to it. Davis, who was placed on injured reserve Monday, will be replaced in the lineup by a combination of Akin Ayodele and Reggie Torbor.

Bills placed ILB Andra Davis (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Davis is dealing with a torn labrum in his shoulder. He suffered the injury in Week 1, so the Bills were lucky to get as many games out of him as they did.

Bills coach Chan Gailey revealed Friday that ILB Andra Davis has a torn labrum in his shoulder.

It's usually a year-ending injury. Davis has tried to play through it and has missed just one game, but he's going to miss another this week after being listed as doubtful on the injury report. The Bills are on pace to surrender the most rushing yards since the 1980 Saints, and Davis' loss won't help. His backups are journeyman Akin Ayodele and undersized Keith Ellison.

Bills ILB Andra Davis is in danger of missing the team's Week 9 game against the Bears due to a bum shoulder.

Davis isn't enjoying the same success he had last year in Denver, but is one of Buffalo's only efficient run stoppers. His absence would upgrade Matt Forte's matchup. Chester Taylor is also worth a look as a flex this week.

Bills ILB Andra Davis (shoulder) and DE Marcus Stroud (foot) are both expected to return this week.

Davis had a team-high 21 tackles in the first three games, though he racked up the numbers with Paul Posluszny out of the lineup for most of the time. Poz is now back, making Davis a weaker IDP option. Stroud and Davis' returns are unlikely to turn around Buffalo's last-ranked rush defense.

Bills coach Chan Gailey has ruled out ILB Andra Davis (shoulder) and DE Marcus Stroud (ankle) for this week's game against the Jets.

It's not all bad news, however, as ILB Paul Posluszny (knee) is expected to return to the starting lineup. Reggie Torbor, Akin Ayodele, and Keith Ellison will see time next to Posluszny inside. It's an ideal matchup for Jets RB Shonn Greene to get off the schneid.

The Bills' official site confirms that Andra Davis has the edge on Kawika Mitchell for a starting inside linebacker job.

Davis' experience in the 3-4 and effectiveness against the run make him the likely starter next to Paul Posluszny come Week 1. Davis had 90 tackles in 13 games for the Broncos a year ago, but will be hard-pressed to match that production in Buffalo.

Andra Davis ran as the Bills' first-team "Ted" inside linebacker, ahead of Kawika Mitchell, to begin OTAs on Tuesday.

This is only a nugget for deep IDP leaguers; Paul Posluszny is a shoe-in to lead Buffalo in tackles. The inside linebacker adjacent him's upside will be in the 80-tackle range. Mitchell will likely open 2010 as the No. 3 ILB.

Newly signed Bills ILB Andra Davis confirmed that he will be given an opportunity to compete for a starting job.

Davis, who has played in the 3-4 scheme his entire career, will have the upper hand with Kawika Mitchell coming off a quadriceps tear. Fellow signee Dwan Edwards will also compete against Marcus Stroud and Spencer Johnson for a starting defensive end job.

Bills signed ILB Andra Davis to a two-year contract worth a maximum of $4.4 million.

"Done deal I am a Buffalo Bill now," Davis texted Tuesday afternoon. For the second straight year, the savvy veteran will be helping a defense switch from a 4-3 scheme to a 3-4. Paul Posluszny's job is safe, though the other inside linebacker spot should be Davis' for the taking. Coming off a serious surgery to re-attach his quadriceps muscle to his kneecap, Kawika Mitchell may be the odd man out.

Free agent ILB Andra Davis is scheduled to arrive in Buffalo on Monday meet with Bills officials into Tuesday.

Davis, 31, is be a stopgap solution at inside linebacker, but played at a relatively high level last season and would help install the Bills' new 3-4 defense. He could replace injury-prone Kawika Mitchell on the roster.

Broncos released ILB Andra Davis.

The move is a surprise, as the 31-year-old had a fine first season in Denver, exceeding expectations with 90 tackles and 3.5 sacks as a key figure in the team's surprising 6-0 start. Davis' release could signal Denver's intention to move Spencer Larsen into the starting lineup, though Alabama's Rolando McClain is also an option at No. 11 overall. Davis should draw interest from teams with a 3-4 defense.
