Free agent WR/KR Andre' Davis is scheduled to visit the Redskins on Wednesday.
Davis has a D.C. connection, having played under coordinator Kyle Shanahan in Houston. Injury-prone throughout his career, Davis hasn't been a true threat as a deep threat and kickoff returner since the 2007 season. If signed, he'd likely compete with Brandon Banks for one roster spot. Texans released WR Andre' Davis.

Davis turns 32 in June and missed all of the 2010 season with a tailbone injury, so he never had a fighting chance to see his projected 2011 salary of $4.7 million. Davis was once one of the NFL's top special teamers and a viable situational deep threat, but he may struggle to find a home in free agency.

Texans WR/KR Andre' Davis recently underwent surgery to repair an injury to his tailbone/hip.

A recovery timetable has not been released. Davis is already out for the season after being placed on injured reserve earlier this month. Considering he's due $4.7 million in 2011, his Texans career is likely over.

Texans placed WR Andre' Davis on injured reserve with a tailbone/hip injury, ending his season.

Davis was once one of the top special teams gunners and kick returners in the game, but so many years of doing the dirty work have caught up to him. The Texans are doing Davis a favor by placing him on I.R., as he's in line to receive his full $2.55M salary. They could also work out a settlement.

Texans WR/KR Andre' Davis is in danger of not making the final roster.

His kick return average was down last season, and the team has improved depth at receiver. Davis is also due a $2.55 million salary -- far too rich for a special teamer not named Josh Cribbs. Barring multiple in-camp injuries to wide receivers ahead of him, we don't envision Davis making the club.

Texans WR Andre' Davis worked with the first team opposite Kevin Walter Wednesday.

Davis is ready to step in if Andre Johnson (lung contusion) can't go. Right now, Johnson is guaranteeing he will play but it's far from a certainty. Coach Gary Kubiak expressed his confidence in Davis and said the play-calling wouldn't change if Johnson can't go.

Texans No. 3 receiver Andre' Davis is slated to return from his concussion this week.

This likely moves fill-in third wideout Jacoby Jones back down the depth chart. Davis will play in three receiver sets with Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter.

Texans have declared WR Andre' Davis, OL Antoine Caldwell, OT Chris L. White, QB Dan Orlovsky, CB Jacques Reeves, and DL Shaun Cody in addition to Kevin Walter inactive for Week 2.

Reeves (leg) practiced this week and was listed as questionable but, ultimately, could not get the "thumbs up" to play. The Texans are also very thin at the receiver spot with both Walter and Davis out.

Texans WR Andre' Davis (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 2.

Either Jacoby Jones or David Anderson will start against the Titans if Kevin Walter (hamstring, questionable) can't. Davis has no timetable for return.

Texans WR Andre' Davis (concussion) missed practice again on Thursday.

Coach Gary Kubiak said Davis was feeling better on Thursday, but he'll have to practice on Friday if he's going to play this week.

Texans third receiver Andre' Davis (concussion) missed Wednesday's practice.

The team doesn't appear to be counting on Davis to face Tennessee.
Wed, Sep 16, 2009 06:51:00 PM

Texans coach Gary Kubiak characterized Andre' Davis' (concussion) status as "day to day."

He's questionable to face the Titans, but the Texans won't rush Davis back with Kevin Walter (hamstring) returning. Davis was totally ineffective as Walter's replacement against the Jets and may lose his third receiver job.
Tue, Sep 15, 2009 09:44:00 PM

Texans WR Andre' Davis suffered a concussion late in the game Sunday and didn't return.

Davis, who started in place of Kevin Walter (hamstring), didn't do much before his concussion. He finished with three catches for 14 yards.
Sun, Sep 13, 2009 07:18:00 PM

Texans WR Andre' Davis is expected to start in place of Kevin Walter (hamstring) Sunday against the Jets.

Walter hasn't been ruled out, but he's yet to practice this week. Fantasy leaguers shouldn't need to reach for Davis in Week 1, and he may split snaps with David Anderson anyway. Look elsewhere for a starter.
Fri, Sep 11, 2009 09:01:00 AM

Andre' Davis is having a big start to training camp and has the edge on the Texans' third receiver job job.

David Anderson had better numbers last season, but Davis is much more talented and is clearly ahead of Jacoby Jones. None of the above figures to have much value this season unless injuries hit Andre Johnson or Kevin Walter.
