Bengals waived C Jeff Faine.
Faine's roster spot was needed so the Bengals could add kicker Josh Brown. It's a sign that Kyle Cook (ankle) will start Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Cook opened the season on injured reserve with a designation to return. Thu, Dec 6, 2012 11:29:00 AM

Bengals C Jeff Faine (hamstring) says he'll return after the Bengals' Week 8 bye.

Faine didn't play at all in the second half of Sunday night's loss to the Steelers. Undersized rookie Trevor Robinson got eaten up by Casey Hampton.

Bengals C Jeff Faine exited Sunday night's game against the Steelers with a hamstring injury.

He was replaced by Trevor Robinson, an undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame. Faine was signed in late August following the loss of Kyle Cook to a significant foot injury. Faine's return to the game is considered questionable.

Bengals signed C Jeff Faine, formerly of the Buccaneers.

31-year-old Faine is insurance for starting C Kyle Cook, whom the Bengals fear may miss significant time with a foot injury. Cincinnati's interior offensive line is not panning out as a likely strength. LG Travelle Wharton is already done for the season, and rookie RG Kevin Zeitler has been up and down.

The Bengals will host free agent C Jeff Faine for a visit on Tuesday.

It's an indication that Bengals C Kyle Cook's foot injury is serious. One of the worst centers in the league last season, Faine was released by the Bucs in March. He hasn't made a visit since April.

Free agent C Jeff Faine visited the Titans earlier this week.

Faine is at least the fifth veteran center to visit Tennessee, and the team reportedly has former Eagles center Jamaal Jackson in mind as a fallback option. Released by the Bucs after a dramatic decline in run blocking, Faine has started 117 games in his nine-year career.

Bucs released C Jeff Faine.

Faine was due $12.925 million over the next two years after grading out as one of the worst centers in the league by Pro Football Focus in 2011. He missed 12 games between 2009-10 before appearing in 15 last season. He's unlikely to draw interest as a starter on the open market.

The Tampa Bay Times confirms that the Bucs are likely to release C Jeff Faine after news of Jeremy Zuttah moving to center.

Faine simply isn't worth his nearly $6 million base salary, and the move will likely occur later today or tomorrow. Faine, 31, has been the Bucs' starting center since 2008. He's been injury prone and ineffective the entire time, though.

Bucs C Jeff Faine insists he didn't tear his biceps in Sunday's win over the Saints, and that it's only a strain.

Faine says he "hopes" to play against the Bears in Week 7. Tampa-Chicago will be played at Wembley Stadium in London. The Bucs' running game held up just fine with Jeremy Zuttah filling in for Faine Sunday against New Orleans.

Bucs C Jeff Faine left Sunday's game in the second half with a right biceps injury.

The extent of the injury is unknown, but Faine would likely be done for the season if the biceps muscle is torn. Ted Larsen has come on at center.

Bucs C Jeff Faine has written an open letter to Tampa Bay fans.

The letter is in response to a recent post on JoeBucsFan.com questioning Faine for sitting out workouts organized by his teammates. Faine says he will now attend all future workouts. The fact that he felt the need to announce so in an open letter would seem to indicate guilt over his absences, which is patently absurd when he's been locked out by the owners.

Bucs GM Mark Dominik hinted that C Jeff Faine will be back next season.

The oft-injured Faine is due $4.6 million in 2011, a number the Bucs are apparently willing to pay. "Jeff Faine is the captain of the football team for a lot of right reasons and he's a productive player for us," Dominik said. The St. Petersburg Times has already reported this offseason that Faine "has assurances" that he won't be released.

Bucs C Jeff Faine reportedly "has assurances" that he'll be back with the Bucs next season.

Currently rehabbing from a torn triceps, Faine has missed 12 games the past two seasons. However, the Bucs seem genuine about not wanting to release one of their captains even though he'll turn 30 in April and is due $4.6 million in 2011. His veteran presence is certainly valuable for one of the league's youngest teams.

Bucs placed C Jeff Faine on injured reserve with a torn tricep muscle, ending his season.

He finishes with eight starts. Injury prone early in his career with the Browns, Faine has reverted to his oft-injured ways, and will enter the 2011 offseason having missed 12 of a possible 32 starts in his last two seasons. Faine's salary next year is $4.575 million. He won't be a lock to return.
Mon, Dec 6, 2010 05:12:00 PM

Bucs C Jeff Faine is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a triceps injury.

It appears Faine has a muscle tear. Tampa's offensive line is thinning quickly, as undrafted rookie Derek Hardman was forced to play right guard in Sunday's loss to Atlanta while usual RG Jeremy Zuttah kicked to center.
