The Colts worked out free agent receivers D.J. Hackett, David Patten, and Chad Jackson on Tuesday.
None was signed. The Colts only kept four wideouts on their Week 1 roster and need help with Anthony Gonzalez (knee) out indefinitely. Only Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon, and rookie slot man Austin Collie are available. Wed, Sep 16, 2009 06:11:00 PM

Redskins released WR D.J. Hackett.

It was the Marko Mitchell show for the Redskins this preseason and that was that for Hackett. He might get some bites around the league as a guy with major NFL experience.

The Washington Post projects D.J. Hackett to miss the cut on the Redskins' final roster.

Santana Moss, Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, and Antwaan Randle El are locked in. Rookie Marko Mitchell also appears to be. Hackett hasn't had a standout training camp and would need the Skins to carry six receivers to last.

Redskins signed WR D.J. Hackett.

Hackett, who knows Jim Zorn's offense from Seattle, will be an option for the No. 5 receiver job after Roydell Williams was waived/injured. Coming off a 13/181/0 season with the Panthers, the injury-plagued Hackett won't have any fantasy value in the Redskins' typically conservative offense.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Chiefs will work out free agent D.J. Hackett on Monday.

This isn't the greatest sign for Mark Bradley. Devard Darling ran with the first-team offense at Sunday's training camp practice, indicating that Bradley won't be handed a starting role. Hackett would add even more competition.

The Lions will try out free agent wideout D.J. Hackett on Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.

They must have not been blown away by Keary Colbert and John Standeford at OTAs. Hackett could put pressure on starting split end Bryant Johnson.

The Ravens will reportedly work out a group of wide receivers, including free agent D.J. Hackett, on Friday.

The news come from the Twitter account of NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, who still believes Derrick Mason will play this season. The team is likely starting a watch list for receiving options should Mason opt not to return by training camp.

Bucs coach Raheem Morris said he was "just looking" at free agent WRs D.J. Hackett and Drew Bennett during Tuesday's workout.

The Bucs are merely searching for receivers to put on a watch list in case their own guys suffer an injury this week or in training camp.

Free agent WR D.J. Hackett has a workout scheduled with the Bucs on Tuesday.

Hackett has already tried out for the Ravens and Redskins this offseason, with the Redskins retaining interest. The Bucs have been linked to several veteran receivers, including Plaxico Burress and Marvin Harrison.

D.J. Hackett visited with the Texans Friday instead of trying out with the Ravens.

Hackett was scheduled to try out in Baltimore along with three other veteran receivers. Houston already has Andre' Davis and David Anderson behind their starters, so Hackett would have a tough time cracking the lineup.

Updating a previous item, the Washington Post reports that no deal between the Redskins and free agent D.J. Hackett is imminent.

The Skins wanted Hackett signed by Monday after offering him a contract, but the agreement is on hold because he'll be tending to a personal matter for the next week. Hackett isn't known to be receiving any interest elsewhere.

The Redskins have extended contract offers to free agent receivers D.J. Hackett and Kelley Washington.

They are likely minimum deals with little or nothing guaranteed. Hackett is expected to sign later Sunday, but Washington is weighing an offer from the Ravens. Hackett would be an immediate third receiver option on the Skins.
Sun, May 3, 2009 01:01:00 PM

The Redskins invited free agent D.J. Hackett to their weekend minicamp.

Hackett is joining Kelley Washington at the camp. These players are not under contract, but the Skins would be silly not to sign Hackett. If he's willing to attend minicamp on a "tryout" basis, he's willing to sign for the minimum. He could only be a plus for Washington's weak receiver corps.

The Redskins have reportedly expressed no interest in free agent D.J. Hackett this offseason.

Washington offered Hackett a minimum deal last spring, but is prepared to give its youngsters a try. Hackett has generated no interest elsewhere.

Panthers released D.J. Hackett, RB Nick Goings, and G/T Jeremy Bridges.

Hackett couldn't stay healthy with Carolina and didn't seem comfortable outside a West Coast offense. He's too young (27) and talented to be ignored, but he'll have an uphill battle for a major role in 2009. A return to Seattle at a bargain price would make a lot of sense. This opens up Carolina's third receiver job for Dwayne Jarrett.
