Julius Jones rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries and caught six passes for 61 yards in the Saints' playoff loss to Seattle.

Before leaving with a fourth-quarter head injury, Jones was the Saints' lead back and got virtually all of the inside and red-zone carries ahead of Reggie Bush. Jones dropped a pass and lost an early fumble, however, in an up-and-down night. Including the playoffs, the former Seahawk averaged just 3.57 yards per carry in what will probably go down as Jones' only year with the Saints. He is headed for unrestricted free agency.

Julius Jones left Saturday's Wild Card game with a fourth-quarter head injury.

It's presumably a concussion, or else Jones would be out there. The Saints' only back standing is DeShawn Wynn, who promptly was stuffed on a crucial two-point conversion try with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Saints declared RB Julius Jones, TE Tory Humphrey, T Charles Brown, DE Junior Galette, LB Kawika Mitchell, LB Ramon Humber, CB Patrick Robinson and S Usama Young inactive for Week 14.

Pierre Thomas is active as expected, thus the reasoning for Jones being inactive. Thomas isn't expected to be heavily involved in the gameplan, so look for Chris Ivory to lead the way in carries again.

Julius Jones ran for 45 yards on 10 carries and caught three passes for 21 yards in the Saints' Week 12 win over the Cowboys.

Reggie Bush started at tailback, but Jones led the backfield in carries, touches, and rushing yards. Broadcasters Joe Buck and Troy Aikman mentioned Jones' superior blitz-pickup skills when discussing his role in comparison to those of Bush and Chris Ivory. Ivory was the goal-line vulture on Thursday, scoring from three and six yards out in the first quarter.

Jones started, but he wasn't the feature back. Chris Ivory got most of the early-down work with Ladell Betts working in plenty. Jones is waiver-wire fodder with Reggie Bush expected back after the bye.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune’s Jeff Duncan notes that Julius Jones’ role has been expanding as he gets more comfortable with the offense.

Jones actually looked pretty good Sunday night, showing some nimbleness both on a swing pass as well as on an 11-yard run. Don’t get excited, though. His role may be growing, but he’s still not getting many touches and will get even fewer once Pierre Thomas is ready.

Saints RB Julius Jones was limited in Wednesday's practice with a shoulder injury.

Jones, making his Saints debut in Week 6, saw a surprising 10 touches off the bench, though a 32:32 run-to-pass ratio for a typically pass-heavy Saints team had a lot to do with it. New Orleans was blowing out Tampa Bay, owning a 24-0 lead in the third quarter. Jones seems likely to be active against the Browns Sunday, but he'll play second fiddle to probable starter Chris Ivory.

Interestingly, Jones received more carries than Ladell Betts. The two veterans will be in an uninspiring battle to be active once Pierre Thomas (ankle) gets healthy. In the meantime, neither one will be a real fantasy option. Chris Ivory is making them look bad.

Coach Sean Payton clarified that Julius Jones would serve only as the Saints' No. 3 back in Week 6 should Pierre Thomas (ankle) not play.

Look elsewhere for your desperation fantasy start of the week. "It's really just an additional back," Payton said. "I've seen it perceived as that we're disappointed with the other two, and that wouldn't be the case. It's really to have depth." Jones is currently No. 4 on the depth chart, and would likely be released if Reggie Bush returned from his fractured fibula by Week 7 or 8.

Saints signed RB Julius Jones, formerly of the Seahawks.

Coach Sean Payton was hopeful that Pierre Thomas (ankle) would return this week, so Jones' signing says more about Ladell Betts. The fill-in had two horrible mistakes in Sunday's upset loss, including a key fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Jones, owner of just six rushing TDs over the past four years, is a weak candidate for short-yardage work. He's nothing more than depth at this point in his career.

Seahawks released RB Julius Jones.

The other shoe drops, as expected. Jones had already been phased out of the running back rotation, not even suiting up at St. Louis. The 29-year-old was averaging 2.5 yards on just 12 carries after slowing to 3.7 yards per carry last year. No longer offering any playmaking ability, he shouldn't expect a waiting line for his services.

It looks like Jones is a healthy scratch. He received zero carries in Week 3 as coach Pete Carroll leans toward Justin Forsett as his feature back. Forsett is a solid RB2 with all the injuries and byes this week. Other Seahawks inactives: TE Anthony McCoy, T Breno Giacomini, G Evan Dietrich-Smith, G Allen Barbre, DT Craig Terrill, DE E.J. Wilson and S Nate Ness.
