Former Jaguars and Seahawks WR Reggie Williams has signed with the UFL's Sacramento Lions.
Williams lasted just two months on Seattle's offseason roster last year after being outperformed in practice by Big Mike Williams, Ben Obomanu, Marcus Maxwell, and Ruvell Martin. The No. 9 overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft, Williams posted 2,322 yards and 18 touchdowns in five seasons with Jacksonville. Thu, Jul 7, 2011 12:21:00 PM

Seahawks released WR Reggie Williams.

He lasted just two months on the roster. Out-practiced by fellow former top-ten bust Mike Williams and unimpressive talents such as Ben Obomanu, Marcus Maxwell, and Ruvell Martin, Williams' NFL career might be finished.

Seahawks signed WR Reggie Williams to a one-year contract.

Former first-rounder Mike Williams was also signed Thursday. Out of the league in 2009, the former No. 9 overall pick is still on probation from a cocaine charge. While he doesn't have a history of weight problems, he does share Mike Williams' lack of speed. Coach Pete Carroll utilized big receivers to his advantage at USC, but the Williams busts haven't been able to beat NFL corners. Neither receiver is guaranteed to make the team, much less accrue fantasy value.

Free agent WR Reggie Williams will try out for the Seahawks during the team's upcoming minicamp.

Williams is a local product from the University of Washington, and the Seahawks have depth issues at receiver. While they have nothing to lose by trying Williams out, his lack of speed and poor work ethic will keep him from having a fantasy impact even if he squeezes his way onto the roster.

Free agent WR Reggie Williams has been reinstated to the NFL after serving a two-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Teams won't be rushing to sign the former first-round pick. Williams was a mental mistake waiting to happen during his five years with Jacksonville, lacks ideal speed, and received no interest during offseason free agency.

NFL suspended free agent WR Reggie Williams two games as a result of his cocaine charge earlier this year.

Williams, the No. 9 overall pick in 2004, just got probation for getting busted with a half gram of the drug. He hasn't gotten any interest from teams on the open market and this is a big reason why.

Free agent Reggie Williams received two years of probation from a Houston court Monday after pleading guilty to possession of a half gram of cocaine.

A league suspension could come next. Williams, 26, has unsurprisingly generated no interest on the open market since his April arrest. He can avoid felony charges if he completes the probation without another arrest.

Free agent Reggie Williams was in court Tuesday for a hearing on charges that he was in possession of a half-gram of cocaine in Texas on Sunday.

FOX reported Monday that Williams was arrested on a felony gun charge, but the Houston Chronicle only mentions the drug issue. Williams is a first-time offender and only faces probation. His next court date will be May 12.

Free agent Reggie Williams was arrested on a felony gun charge Sunday night in Houston, according to FOXSports.com.

This is Williams' second offseason arrest; he was booked for DWI and marijuana possession on Feb. 27, though charges were later dismissed. Williams reportedly had to be tasered by two off-duty officers Sunday and was found with a "little baggy" of what's believed to be cocaine after a search. Williams can probably kiss his chances of playing in 2009 goodbye.

A judge in Harris County Texas dismissed charges of driving while intoxicated against Reggie Williams.

With Williams' blood alcohol content under the legal limit and with no reason for stopping his vehicle, the judge determined that there were no charges to be made. The ex-Jaguar has yet to receive interest on the free agent market.

Free agent Reggie Williams was arrested early Friday for a DWI and possession of .97 grams of marijuana, both class B misdemeanors.

The amount of weed may be small, but the stupidity is enormous. Williams got arrested two hours after free agency started, immediately killing his already weak market value. He failed three sobriety tests. Williams may have to wait for his legal problems to shake out before he even gets invited to a training camp now.

The Jaguars will not bring back free agent WR Reggie Williams.

Smart to cut the chord now. Unlike most draft busts, Williams' maturity and work ethic don't seem to be a problem. He's just not an explosive player. He will probably be battling just to be a third receiver on another roster.

Impending free agent Reggie Williams says "of course" he'd like to play for his hometown Seahawks if he leaves Jacksonville.

Williams, who played college ball at the University of Washington, says he needs "opportunity" to show his skills. At 6'4/214 he'd seem to be a good fit for Seattle's West Coast attack, but his poor hands might be a deal breaker.

The Florida Times Union considers Reggie Williams "likely" to leave the Jaguars in free agency.

No team will rush to sign a big, slow receiver with little explosiveness and inconsistent hands, so Williams may struggle to find a deal for more than the minimum. Ernest Wilford's flop in Miami certainly won't help Williams' case.

Reggie Williams took the nameplate off his locker in Jacksonville and doesn't expect to be back with the team.

A tough blocker, Williams just never developed an ability to separate or produce after the catch in five seasons with Jacksonville. His ten scores in 2007 stand out as a fluke. We doubt he'll ever start in the league again, but he should get a small second contract.
