The Giants will give free agent TE Ben Troupe a tryout Wednesday.
We're positive Troupe will work out well because he's huge, fast, and can jump out of the gym, but he's proven over and over that he isn't a player. Tue, Mar 3, 2009 07:52:00 PM

Raiders released TE Ben Troupe with an injury settlement.

Troupe injured his foot during his first practice with Oakland in September, then re-injured it. He's unlikely to help any other teams this season.

Raiders placed TE Ben Troupe on injured reserve, ending his season.

Troupe practiced just once for Oakland before sustaining a foot injury. The former second-rounder had plenty of promise once upon a time, but he's a long way from getting back on the fantasy radar.

Newly signed Raiders TE Ben Troupe injured his foot on his first day of practice Thursday.

Troupe watched practice from the sidelines in a boot. Not a good start for a player fast running out of chances.

Raiders signed TE Ben Troupe, formerly of the Bucs.

Troupe fits the Raiders' profile for measurables, but hasn't made an impact in the league for some time now. He'll be low on the depth chart to start.

Bucs released TE Ben Troupe.

Troupe's release clears a roster spot for Jerramy Stevens. The once-promising second rounder has plenty of talent, but his commitment has always been in question. It's past time for the deepest of dynasty leaguers to cut the fish loose.

The Tampa Tribune speculates that Ben Troupe could be released by the Bucs when Jerramy Stevens is activated off the suspended list.

He's buried on the depth chart, and is even behind blocking specialist John Gilmore for targets. Troupe hasn't been an effective NFL player since 2005.

Bucs TE Ben Troupe is nursing a sore foot after missing time earlier in camp with a concussion.

Troupe has the talent to make an impact if he can pull it all together for a season, but he's having a hard time impressing the Bucs from the sideline. He's facing an uphill battle for any kind of reliable fantasy production in Tampa this season.

Bucs agreed to terms with Ben Troupe on a two-year contract, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

A nice fit for the athletic pass-catching tight end. Troupe will have to learn the offense, but he'll get a chance to compete to start with incumbent Alex Smith. While he's worth keeping an eye on, the Bucs tight ends will probably cancel each other out.

Free agent Ben Troupe has set up a meeting with the Saints.

"Ben is hot right now," agent Joel Segal said. It's the first time Troupe's been hot in three years. He'll meet with the Bills before the Saints.

After his visit with the Buccaneers, free agent TE Ben Troupe will meet with the Bills.

Troupe could add a much desired downfield threat to Buffalo's new look attack under first-year coordinator Turk Schonert. He'll be in Tampa Saturday.

The Bucs have scheduled a visit for free agent TE Ben Troupe.

Troupe caught 55 passes in 2005, but has regressed as a pro ever since. It could be a motivational issue. He definitely doesn't lack the talent.

Ben Troupe is expected to visit Buffalo this weekend.

The Bills need some pass-catchers, and Troupe needs a fresh start. He has physical skills, but could never put it together in Tennesseee.

Impending free agent TE Ben Troupe isn't expected back with the Titans in 2008.

Troupe never got better after his 55-catch, four-touchdown 2005 season and ultimately became a backup to Bo Scaife in Tennessee. He remains a highly impressive athlete who could draw interest from teams like Philadelphia, Minnesota, and Seattle to compete for a starting job.

Ben Troupe caught three passes for 44 yards in Sunday's wild card loss to the Chargers.

Troupe, filling in for injured starter Bo Scaife, made a couple of nice catches including a 26-yard over the shoulder grab down the sidelines. Troupe has been an enigma in Tennessee, but he remains a talented pass catcher. As an unrestricted free agent, he could find himself with a nice value bump next season if the light flips on for him in the right situation.
