According to a press release Monday from the UFL, the Hartford Colonials have signed former Lions and Bears RB Kevin Jones.
Jones worked out for the Rams last Tuesday, and might've been an option again in St. Louis with Steven Jackson battling a groin strain. Some UFL contracts fail to include out clauses with regard to switching back to the big leagues, but it's unclear if his does. Jones was the 30th overall pick in 2004. Mon, Sep 27, 2010 02:55:00 PM

The Rams are working out free agent RB Kevin Jones on Tuesday.

Interesting. Jones has missed much of the past four seasons with thigh, hip, elbow, shoulder, Lisfranc and ACL injuries. There's certainly no reason to believe he could hold up to a committee back's workload, but he has a talent advantage on Kenneth Darby as a pure backup to Steven Jackson.

Bears released RB Kevin Jones.

Jones, who missed all of last season with torn ligaments in his left ankle, received full medical clearance earlier in the day Tuesday. He wasn't going to play behind Matt Forte and Chester Taylor, though, so he has a chance to land a backup job on the open market. Considering his stark injury history, the 27-year-old will assuredly have to fight for a roster spot.

Bears placed RB Kevin Jones on injured reserve with ligament damage in his ankle, ending his season.

The Bears are desperate for running back help behind Matt Forte. Jones is still just 27 and should be given a chance to regain his backup job next summer with only a $1.15 million salary, depending on who Chicago brings in. Neither Garrett Wolfe not Adrian Peterson is an option to carry the load.

Bears RB Kevin Jones is out for the season after suffering torn ligaments in his left ankle Thursday night.

The guy can't catch a break. As Dynasty leaguers surely know, Jones has missed much of the past four seasons with thigh, hip, elbow, shoulder, Lisfranc and ACL injuries. He'll be sidelined for at least 8-10 weeks after undergoing surgery. The Bears, who handed Jones a two-year, $3.5M deal this offseason, will be in the market for a backup tailback. In the meantime, Matt Forte will shoulder the load as he did last season.

Bears backup RB Kevin Jones left Thursday's game with an ankle injury on the team's second series.

Jones, starting in place of Matt Forte, landed awkwardly after leaving his feet to pick up extra yardage. After trying to apply pressure to the ankle, he had to be carted off the field. It sounds like it could be a serious sprain, which could sideline for the first couple of weeks of the season.

According to beat writer Brad Biggs, RB Kevin Jones has been one of the gems of camp so far.

Jones is fully clear from his ACL surgery and is ready to take a few extra carries away from Matt Forte. He's a must-have if you draft Forte.

According to Bears beat writer Vaughn McClure, backup RB Kevin Jones' "burst is back."

Only positive reports have come out of Bears camp on Jones, who figures to spell Matt Forte a little more often this year. Jones has also lost some weight and will be a must-have handcuff to Forte.

Kevin Jones reportedly looked "very quick, fast and explosive" during Bears' OTAs.

Jones is now 19 months removed from ACL surgery, and running backs coach Tim Spencer says he's back to where he was before the injury. It will be hard to take Matt Forte off the field, but the Bears are adamant that Jones will play a bigger role this year in a "1-2 punch."

With Matt Forte continuing to sit out OTAs with a hamstring injury, Kevin Jones is taking the Bears' first-team reps at tailback.

All reports indicate that Jones, now over a year removed from ACL surgery, looks a lot better this spring than last. Forte is such a complete back that we still find it hard to believe Jones poses a serious threat, but he'll be a great handcuff pick with Forte coming off an extensive rookie-year workload.

Bears agreed to terms with RB Kevin Jones on a two-year contract worth approximately $3.5 million.

The Bears had talked about finding a back to pair with Matt Forte, but in the end they're settling for Jones. They matched two offers from the Bills, so it looks like they believe another year removed from ACL surgery will allow him to contribute more offensively than he did last year with just 34 carries.

Free agent Kevin Jones will visit with the Bills on Wednesday.

The Bills are clearly concerned that Marshawn Lynch will begin the season on suspension. Jones had 34 carries and two catches last year in Chicago.
Tue, Mar 3, 2009 05:19:00 PM

The Bears have formally submitted a contract offer to free agent Kevin Jones.

It seems unlikely that the Bears would offer more than the minimum they paid Jones last year after he fell to the bottom of the depth chart by season's end. Jones has also been linked to Buffalo, St. Louis, and Tampa Bay.

Kevin Jones is reportedly "on the radar" of several teams, including the Bills, Rams, Jets, and Bucs.

On the radar and close to signing aren't the same thing. It would be surprising if Jones started taking visits before backs like Derrick Ward, Cedric Benson, and Maurice Morris after he struggled with injuries and holding his job in Chicago.

Bears RB Kevin Jones is doubtful for Sunday's game with a hamstring injury.

Jones rushed for just 109 yards and a 3.2 average this season while playing on a one-year deal. He had a hard time getting on the field and eventually lost primary backup duties to Adrian Peterson. Dynasty leaguers shouldn't expect Jones to land a secure spot in a running back-by-committee this offseason, let alone a starting job.
