A UFL press release Wednesday stated that ex-Broncos RB Tatum Bell has been cut by the Florida Tuskers.
If selling cellphones in a mall before stealing Rudi Johnson's bags and athletic gear weren't rock bottom for Bell, this is it. He did receive a tryout from the Titans at the start of camp, but the team opted against signing him. Wed, Aug 25, 2010 02:11:00 PM

The Titans worked out free agent running backs Tatum Bell, Adrian Peterson, and Keon Lattimore on Monday.

The Titans have depth issues behind Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer. Undrafted free agents LeGarrette Blount and Stafon Johnson are borderline talents, so they could use veteran competition for the No. 3 spot. Bell was out of the league last season.

Free agent Tatum Bell is hoping for another shot in the NFL.

"I know I could come in there and compete for the starting job," Bell said, speaking of his former team, the Broncos. "If not, I know I could at least be a good backup." Bell is only 28 and racked up 117 total yards on 12 touches in his last appearance, but has only drawn interest from the upstart UFL.

Tatum Bell rushed eight times for 86 yards and two touchdowns but the Broncos fell to the Chargers in Week 17. He caught four passes for 31 yards.

What a nice surprise. As expected, he wasn't featured heavily as the Broncos took to the air, but he made the most of his touches and received excellent blocking up front. The 27-year-old may have done just enough Sunday night to earn a spot in an NFL backfield next season, but obviously not as a starter.

Tatum Bell is expected to be the Broncos' starting tailback in Week 17 against the Chargers.

He'll be backed up by Alex Haynes and Cory Boyd. Bell hasn't gotten the ball more than 13 times in a game since being signed away from the in-mall cell phone store he was working at in October. The Broncos don't have much confidence in any of their running backs and will likely go pass-heavy Sunday.

Tatum Bell rushed five times for 20 yards and caught a three-yard pass in the Broncos' Week 16 loss to Buffalo.

Bell played behind P.J. Pope initially, but got a little work when Pope's hamstring flared up. The Broncos eventually emptied their backfield and used a pass-only attack for almost the entire second half. Bell's upside is about eight touches a game, and even that projection might be generous.

Tatum Bell rushed seven times for 43 yards and added two receptions for seven yards against the Panthers in Week 15.

Bell was lucky to get the 50 total yards. He was outplayed by P.J. Pope throughout, but he took advantage of garbage time defense to post 30 yards on back-to-back runs on the game's final drive. He's likely to remain in a backfield rotation next week against the Bills.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan has yet to name a starting tailback for Sunday's game at Carolina.

Rookie Cory Boyd got the longest look Wednesday, but P.J. Pope joined Tatum Bell and Selvin Young in the mix Thursday. Beat writer Jim Armstrong believes that Bell will start, but the Broncos may use a three-man rotation. With so many question marks, it's a situation for fantasy leaguers to avoid.

Tatum Bell is expected to take over as Denver's starting running back following Peyton Hillis' season-ending injury.

The remaining schedule (@ CAR, vs. BUF, @ SD) is pretty favorable, but Bell will likely rotate with P.J. Pope, Selvin Young, and/or Cory Boyd and won't be more than a mediocre flex play in fantasy leagues going forward. The Broncos will likely run a pass-first offense for the rest of their season.

Tatum Bell ran 11 times for 52 yards and caught two balls for 16 yards in the Broncos' Week 14 win over Kansas City.

Activate as Denver's No. 2 RB over Selvin Young and P.J. Pope, Bell was used as a change of pace behind Peyton Hillis early and took over as primary runner when Hillis strained a hamstring. The Broncos didn't show much faith in Bell, but he could be in a committee with Young and Pope next week if Hillis is out. The early guess is that Hillis will not play in Week 15 at Carolina.

Tatum Bell was on the field at tailback for the Broncos' first offensive snap in Week 12 against the Raiders.

Perhaps this was done to throw off Oakland because Bell wound up with only seven touches and averaged 2.0 yards a play. Peyton Hillis was at fullback on the first snap, but still saw 19 touches. Bell will resume third-string duty in Week 13 if he isn't cut. Hillis will probably continue to get touches.

Tatum Bell ran for 14 yards on six carries and caught a pass for no gain in Denver's Week 12 loss.

Bell played ahead of P.J. Pope and was used as a change of pace behind Peyton Hillis. Tatum will likely return to a third-string role once Selvin Young (groin) gets back. Young probably will play in Week 13 against the Jets.

Tatum Bell rushed seven times for 34 yards in his Broncos season debut Sunday.

The Broncos predictably used a committee attack with Peyton Hillis and even P.J. Pope. Since Bell won't be used in the red zone and is no lock to top 10 carries in a given week, he makes for a poor fantasy option going forward.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan has apparently changed his mind after early week speculation that Tatum Bell wasn't "in great football shape."

"I was really surprised he was in better football shape than I had anticipated," Shanahan said. Bell has been impressive in his first two practices, and it remains likely that he will play Sunday at Atlanta. Any speculation about a possible workload is just guesswork at this point.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday that he doesn't think Tatum Bell "is in great football shape yet, but hopefully in a short time he will be."

Bell was selling cell phones at a mall before signing Tuesday. "He was the only one left," Shanahan joked when asked why be brought Bell back. "We needed someone who is familiar with our system and terminology." It's hard to imagine using Bell in a fantasy league before we see something from him.
