The knee injury that ended free agent RT Sean Locklear's 2012 was a torn ACL.
Locklear went down in Week 13. According to the Newark Star-Ledger, the Giants will "wait and see" how Locklear's rehab goes before deciding future with the team. Locklear could be near 100 percent by the time camp rolls around, but won't draw much interest in free agency before then. Locklear's health could be a reason the Giants have yet to cut David Diehl. Giants placed RT Sean Locklear on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

OT Selvish Capers has been promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. The Giants have yet to announce the extent of Locklear's injury, but it was obvious to anyone watching on Monday that his season was through. He's likely suffered at least one torn ligament, and will be dicey for training camp next summer. The 31-year-old nine-year veteran will be a free agent in the offseason. He's unlikely to find a new home before the summer. David Diehl will fill-in at right tackle for the Giants.

Coach Tom Coughlin indicated that RT Sean Locklear's knee injury is "serious" and will require surgery.

It's no surprise after Locklear's leg was bent the wrong way Monday night. He will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season. Veteran David Diehl will return to the starting lineup going forward. Locklear is a free agent in 2013.

According to the Giants, RT Sean Locklear sustained a "significant knee sprain" during Monday's loss to the Redskins.

If Locklear truly avoided a ligament tear, he's lucky. The gruesome replays showed his right knee getting bent the wrong way in horrific fashion. The Giants are going to have to roll with declining veteran David Diehl at right tackle going forward.

Giants RT Sean Locklear exited Monday night's game versus the Redskins with a right knee injury.

Locklear was injured on a fourth quarter run play and had his leg roll up awkwardly underneath him. It appeared to be a blown out knee. Locklear was later carted off the field. David Diehl replaced him at right tackle.

The Giants will start Sean Locklear at right tackle on Monday night against the Redskins.

David Diehl was listed as questionable on the injury report with a shoulder injury, but he's still active. Diehl started on the right side the past two weeks, but he's taking a back seat to Locklear, who started at the position from Weeks 2-9. Locklear will see a lot of Ryan Kerrigan.

The Giants will start journeyman Sean Locklear at left tackle in Wednesday night's season opener against the Cowboys.

William Beatty's back has continued to give him trouble and he'll be available only to play tight end in jumbo packages. We'd call it a concern for the New York passing game -- particularly facing DeMarcus Ware -- but the Giants did just fine with a below-average left tackle (David Diehl) for most of last season. Locklear outplayed Diehl in camp, and Diehl will start at right tackle.

Giants signed OT Sean Locklear, formerly of the Redskins.

Locklear, 31 in May, made four starts in Washington last season, three at left tackle and one on the right side. Pro Football Focus graded him negatively both as a pass and run blocker. He'll have to battle for a roster spot in camp.

Veteran Sean Locklear is expected to fill in for Trent Williams (ankle) at left tackle this week.

The Redskins gave thought to sliding Jammal Brown over, but Locklear is practicing exclusively on the blindside this week. Locklear struggled as a run blocker in Seattle last season, but excelled in pass protection.

Redskins agreed to terms with OT Sean Locklear, formerly of the Seahawks.

Locklear's market may have been so slow to develop because he's been almost strictly a right tackle, and NFL teams look for versatility first and foremost in backup linemen. He's a nice value pickup for Washington, though. Still only 30 years old, Locklear graded out as the league's best pass-blocking right tackle last season according to Pro Football Focus. He struggled as a run blocker, however, and hasn't played a full 16 games since the 2007 campaign.

Free agent OT Sean Locklear is not expected back with the Seahawks.

The Seahawks signaled their intention to move on by selecting RT James Carpenter with the No. 26 overall pick in the draft. A former member of Seattle's coaching staff tells the Tacoma News Tribune that Locklear can be a "top 15 linemen in the league." The eight-year veteran did grade out as one of the premier pass-blockers in the NFL last season, according to Pro Football Focus. Locklear has connections in the front offices of Tennessee and Chicago.

GM John Schneider now says offensive line and defensive line are the Seahawks' top priorities this offseason.

Coach Pete Carroll had said previously that re-signing Matt Hasselbeck was the top priority. The emphasis has apparently shifted in the Seahawks' front office. RT Sean Locklear, C Chris Spencer, and OG Ben Hamilton are all free agents, leaving just LT Russell Okung and C/G Max Unger as mainstays up front.

Seahawks RT Sean Locklear took a $2.2 million pay cut to stay in Seattle.

In addition to reducing his salary from $5.4 million to $3.25 million, Locklear shaved the last two years off his contract and is now scheduled for free agency in 2011. He wouldn't have made more than $3.25 million with the ability to earn more back through incentives on the open market, so it was a smart move. Locklear could also get a multi-year deal elsewhere next spring.

Coach Pete Carroll announced Friday that the Seahawks have opted to keep RT Sean Locklear.

Locklear was on the trade block last week, but Seattle is so thin at tackle that it'd make little sense to deal or release him. Somewhat surprisingly, the team has not considered moving Locklear to left tackle until Russell Okung (ankle) returns. Locklear will start on the strong side on Sunday.

ESPN's John Clayton reports that the Seahawks have placed RT Sean Locklear on the trade block.

Clayton says Locklear "isn't expected to be around by opening day," so it sounds like he'll be released if Seattle can't find a taker. Due $5.45 million in 2010, that's what's going to happen if Clayton's story is correct. He struggled in the preseason and Seattle is completely making over its roster, so the only outcome here that would surprise us would be Locklear starting Week 1.
