49ers waived K Billy Cundiff.
The 49ers signed Cundiff prior to the Divisional Round to challenge David Akers, but Cundiff was inactive. Akers, who missed 13 FGs this season, connected on his lone attempt against the Packers, a 36-yarder at the end of the first half. Cundiff was also released by Washington earlier in the season. 49ers signed K Billy Cundiff.

LB Eric Bakhtiari was waived in a corresponding move. While a struggling David Akers remains on the roster, Cundiff now becomes the favorite to kick for the 49ers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Akers has missed 13 field goals while kicking through a pelvis injury. Cundiff was released by the Redskins after missing five of 12 kicks early in the season.

49ers will work out free agent kickers Billy Cundiff and Justin Medlock this week.

David Akers has struggled badly this season, making just 29-of-42 kicks. He ended the regular season in Week 17 by missing from 44 and 40 yards out. Cundiff saw time with the Redskins earlier in the season when he hit just 7-of-12 kicks, while Medlock nailed 7-of-10 with the Panthers in 2012.

Free agent kicker Billy Cundiff worked out for the Dolphins this week.

Cundiff lost the workout battle to Nate Kaeding, who was signed on Friday to replace injured Dan Carpenter. Cundiff has seen plenty of interest since being released by the Redskins in early October.

The Texans worked out free agent kickers Billy Cundiff, Olindo Mare and John Potter on Tuesday.

It always creates a stir when teams try out big-name kickers, but the Houston Chronicle's John McClain reports the Texans are "happy with Shayne Graham." The Texans are just updating their emergency list. Graham has converted 15-of-17 field-goal attempts this season, and owns a stellar 86.1 career percentage.

The Redskins will reportedly release K Billy Cundiff after signing Kai Forbath on Tuesday.

Credit the Ravens for breaking camp with the untested Justin Tucker over Cundiff, who has struggled with consistency for the majority of his nine-year career. Cundiff's booming leg may get him another shot, but it's fair to wonder if his current problems stem from blowing the potential game-winning kick in last year's AFC Championship game. Kai Forbath will take over as the Redskins' kicker.

CBS' Jason La Canfora reports the Redskins will work out "at least" three free agent kickers on Tuesday.

Per LaCanfora, Olindo Mare, Josh Brown and Kai Forbath will all be visiting Redskins Park. The jig is up for Billy Cundiff, who's missed 5-of-12 field-goal attempts this season.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan expressed disappointment in K Billy Cundiff following Sunday's Week 5 loss to the Falcons.

Cundiff missed a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter. "I'm disappointed, especially when it's a chip shot in there," Shanahan said. Cundiff is now 6-of-11 on the season and will likely be replaced this week.

The Redskins will not bring in any kickers for workouts this week.

Billy Cundiff nearly cost the Redskins a win in Week 4 by missing from 41, 57 and 31 yards out. But he saved his job by sneaking a game-winning 41-yarder inside the uprights. Cundiff, of course, shanked a 32-yarder in last year's AFC Championship Game, costing his Ravens a chance at overtime. He's should be on a short leash going forward.

Redskins signed K Billy Cundiff, formerly of the Ravens.

Graham Gano's "victory" over Neil Rackers in the Redskins' kicking competition was short lived. The players will not be competing, as Gano was released Tuesday morning. Neither kicker is a bastion of accuracy, but Cundiff has proven steadier over a much longer career. Like Gano, Cundiff is one of the league's top kickoff specialists. He'll be an excellent streaming option in fantasy leagues in the Redskins' on-the-rise offense.

Ravens released K Billy Cundiff.

Coach John Harbaugh told Cundiff that the kicker job was his to lose, and he lost it. The move saves takes Cundiff's $2.2 million salary off the books. The Ravens will go forward with impressive -- and much cheaper -- undrafted free agent Justin Tucker, who kicked last year at the University of Texas. Cundiff figures to receive some attention from teams unhappy with their kicker situations.

Ravens K Billy Cundiff has been told by head coach John Harbaugh that the job is his to lose.

Rookie Justin Tucker has out-kicked Cundiff in practice, but both have been perfect through two exhibition games. The Baltimore Sun confirms Cundiff can lock up the job by staying clean in the final two tuneups.

The Ravens' kicking job is still considered Billy Cundiff's "to lose."

A "lights out" Justin Tucker has out-kicked Cundiff in early camp practices, but the veteran has done nothing to lose the job. We'd recommend steering clear of Ravens kickers in fantasy drafts.

Ravens K Billy Cundiff will have to hold off undrafted rookie Justin Tucker to retain his job.

The Ravens didn't sign Tucker immediately after a minicamp tryout, but they did earlier this week. "There is always competition," coach John Harbaugh stressed. "Billy obviously has the edge, but everybody is fighting for their job."

The Ravens never signed undrafted rookie K Justin Tucker, leaving Billy Cundiff as the lone kicker on Baltimore's current roster.

The Ravens could sign a camp leg to push Cundiff before July, but for now his job security is in no danger. Tucker remains without an NFL rookie contract.
