Former Cowboys and Jets QB Quincy Carter was cut by the Abilene Ruff Riders Saturday after he failed to show up for a game.
If Carter hadn't hit rock bottom yet, he has now. He reportedly called the Ruff Riders four hours before Saturday's game to tell them he wouldn't be playing. Drug-related arrests and poor play aside, getting dropped by an Indoor Football League team is a new low. Mon, Jul 6, 2009 01:27:00 PM

According to the Dallas Morning News, former NFL quarterback Quincy Carter was arrested Sunday night for violating his probation.

It's his second arrest of 2009. Carter was also detained and charged in February for possession of marijuana and a DWI. He is currently playing for the Abilene Ruff Riders of the Intense Football League. It's all very ironic.

Former Cowboys and Jets QB Quincy Carter was arrested early Friday for drunken driving and marijuana possession.

Miami's flirtation with Carter last July seemed laughable at the time. It's well in the rear view now. Carter, 31, blew a 0.14 in Texas, where the legal limit is 0.08. He's been arrested three times for marijuana since 2006.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano hinted that the team will not be adding free agent Quincy Carter to its roster at this time.

Sparano would only say that Carter "threw the ball well" during his Thursday tryout. Carter tried to compare his situation of getting few chances in the NFL to Ricky Williams', but the reality is that Williams was/is a good player and Carter never was. He could barely even make it in the Arena ranks.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano confirmed that free agent Quincy Carter is visiting the team in Davie on Thursday.

It was almost too hard to believe at first. It's real. Carter has been cut by a number of Arena League teams (even some minor league AFL clubs) over the last two years, so we can't imagine there's any chance he'd help the Fins. "This is just a workout," Sparano assured. "That’s all it is. It’s a look-see."

Michael Irvin's radio show reported Wednesday that former Cowboys and Jets quarterback Quincy Carter will work out for the Dolphins Friday.

Carter, a Parcells acolyte, hasn't played in the NFL since he left the Jets in the 2005 playoffs to enter rehab for bipolar disorder and substance rehab. If Irvin is correct, it could be a sign of how unhappy the team is with its current crop of quarterbacks. John Beck, in particular, has looked overwhelmed and indecisive, forcing passes into coverage and holding onto the ball.

Former Cowboys and Jets quarterback Quincy Carter is currently a member of the Arena Football League's Kansas City Brigade.

But not a member of the active roster; Carter's on the Brigade practice squad. The Cowboys' former quarterback of the future has been out of the NFL since 2005. Carter's multiple arrests since ensure that he won't be back in.

Former Cowboys and Jets quarterback Quincy Carter pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Carter, 30, who was most recently with Bossier-Shreveport of the AFL2, was given a suspended jail term and six months of probation. His fans should probably give up hope on Carter ever returning to the big leagues.

Former Cowboys and Jets quarterback Quincy Carter was arrested early Friday morning for possession of under two ounces of marijuana.

Carter, who was cut by the CFL's Montreal Allouettes in May, has a history of drug problems that expedited his fall from the NFL in 2004. We will not see Carter back in the big leagues.

Former Cowboys QB Quincy Carter was cut by the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL.

We'd call that hitting bottom, but there's always the AFL.

Quincy Carter signed a one-year contract with the Montreal Aloutettes of the CFL.

It was only a matter of time. It's hard to believe Carter was starting a playoff game under Bill Parcells just over two year ago.

The Bucs do not appear to be interested in Quincy Carter any more.

They met with him last week, but say they will continue to look at QBs to fill their No. 3 role.

Quincy Carter is scheduled to visit with the Bucs today.

Just what Tampa Bay needs, another marginal player with off-the-field problems. Q would likely be the No. 3 quarterback in Tampa Bay, but it makes you wonder if they are considering dealing Chris Simms.

Jets coach Herm Edwards told Quincy Carter Wednesday he could come back to the Jets if he wanted.

Really? Did Edwards ask his GM about this? The Jets have the most important backup slot to fill this offseason with a new coordinator and a QB who will miss at least every minicamp. Promising a job to Carter, who is currently in rehab, is bizarre.

Quincy Carter has entered a treatment facility for bipolar disorder and substance rehabilitation.

When he left the team during the playoffs, it was to enter rehab, not be with his sick mom. He's a free agent this offseason and will have trouble finding a job.
