Chiefs signed DT Shaun Smith.
It's an indication Glenn Dorsey (calf) could miss multiple games. Smith failed to make it to final cuts with the Titans despite signing a three-year, $7.25 million deal in 2011. Out of shape, he badly under-performed last season. Smith could immediately join the Chiefs' defensive line rotation. Mon, Nov 5, 2012 12:45:00 PM

Titans released DT Shaun Smith.

In July of 2011, the Titans signed Smith to a three-year, $7.25 million contract. He proceeded to show up out of shape and underperformed badly. The Titans save roughly $1.25 million in 2012 base salary by moving on from Smith, now 31. They are plenty deep at defensive tackle after using four draft picks at the position in the last two years.

Titans DT Shaun Smith currently weighs 340 pounds after playing at 362 last season.

"I wasn’t happy with my play last season," Smith said. Due roughly $2 million, Smith also admits to uncertainty over his roster spot. "Am I worried? I’d be lying if I said I’m not worried." Smith notched just 25 tackles and one sack in the first year of a three-year deal last season.

Titans DT Shaun Smith admits to playing out of shape in 2011 after signing a three-year, $7.25 million contract in late July.

"I didn't feel like I played to the ability that I should have," said Smith. "I didn't play at a high level." DC Jerry Gray believes Smith also had trouble adjusting to the Titans 4-3 defense after a history in the 3-4. Smith vows to work harder this offseason to improve his gap penetration.

Titans agreed to terms with DT Shaun Smith on a three-year, $7.25 million contract.

The Chiefs have now lost both their nose tackles this week as Ron Edwards bolted for Carolina a couple days ago. Smith can play some end in a 3-4, but he'll stick to the defensive tackle spot in the Titans' 4-3. If the Titans can keep Smith's attitude in check and his motor running, he'll be a nice rotational piece against the run.

The Chiefs are in the process of negotiating a new contract with free agent DL Shaun Smith.

Smith suddenly became a priority after the Chiefs lost starting nose tackle Ron Edwards to the Panthers. Sixth-round pick Jerrell Powe is the only nose tackle left on the roster, although Smith played left defensive end last season.

Chiefs DL Shaun Smith has been accused of grabbing an opponents' genitals for the second week in a row.

Last week it was Browns C Alex Mack who accused Smith of the inappropriate action, and this week it was 49ers RT Anthony Davis. "He tried to feel me," Davis said. "That's weird, right?" Smith might have gotten into Davis' head, because the Niner had a terrible game, surrendering two sacks and getting called for a false start.

Chiefs signed DL Shaun Smith to a one-year contract.

Smith, 29 before the season, will compete for a roster spot in camp. He looks the part of a nose tackle at 6'2/325 for Kansas City's 3-4 system, but has never been considered a high-motor player and won't be counted on to start.

Free agent DT Shaun Smith will meet with the Chiefs Wednesday.

Smith, notorious for his bad attitude, wasn't tendered by the Bengals as a restricted free agent. He's a big, run-stuffing body.

The Bengals opted not to extend an offer to restricted free agent DT Shaun Smith.

Smith was signed for depth late in the season when Domata Peko was out. Armed with a bad attitude, he may have a tough time landing a job this offseason.

Bengals re-signed DT Shaun Smith.

The Bengals weren't lying when they said Smith was released just because of a "numbers game" in the secondary last week. Smith will help fill the void left by Domata Peko (knee).

Bengals beat writer says that Shaun Smith's release was simply due to a "numbers game."

Reedy says to expect Smith back on the roster next week. The Bengals used Smith's roster spot for DB Rico Murray and they could be planning to be without safeties Kyries Hebert (questionable, knee) and Chris Crocker (questionable, ankle) Sunday.
Sat, Dec 12, 2009 03:28:00 PM

Bengals waived DT Shaun Smith and signed CB Rico Murray off their practice squad.

We're not exactly sure what happened here as Smith was just signed on Wednesday. We don't want to speculate, but character issues have followed Smith virtually everywhere he has gone.

Bengals signed DT Shaun Smith.

Smith is a big body that can plug up the interior of the line, but character concerns have always been the issue. That doesn't matter to the Bengals, who are looking for help with Domata Peko (knee) out two weeks.
Wed, Dec 9, 2009 11:33:00 AM

The Bengals are expected to sign DT Shaun Smith on Tuesday.

Never underestimate the Bengals' utter disregard for character. With Domata Peko (knee) out two weeks, Cincy saw a hole that needed filling. They filled it with a player who has had confrontations with his quarterback, position coach, and GM over the past 12 months while also serving a four-game suspension for steroids. Can we get a "Who Dey!"?
