Falcons re-signed C Brett Romberg and waived C Rob Bruggeman.
The Falcons presumably released Romberg at final cuts because they didn't want to guarantee the 32-year-old's salary. A former starter with the Rams, he offers much more experience than the untested Bruggeman as a backup center. Mon, Sep 12, 2011 06:37:00 PM

Falcons re-signed C Brett Romberg.

A 19-game starter over six seasons, Romberg last saw action as a reserve and special teamer with Atlanta back in 2009. He'll provide depth behind Joe Hawley with starter Todd McClure (knee scope) out for the season opener.

Falcons released C Brett Romberg.

Romberg is old (32), but not by center standards. He can help a team that needs depth at the position.

Falcons signed C Brett Romberg, formerly of the Rams.

Romberg's 6'2/298-pound listing is very generous, but he started 18 games in St. Louis over the past three seasons and is 29. With Todd McClure aging (32), Romberg provides experienced insurance.

The Raiders have shown interest in free agent C Brett Romberg.

Romberg is small, but athletic and has starting experience. He'd fit nicely in Oakland's zone-blocking scheme as a backup for 34-year-old John Wade.

Free agent C Brett Romberg visited with the Falcons on Wednesday.

An undersized pivot man, Romberg would add depth behind Todd McClure in Atlanta. Romberg was in and out of the Rams' starting lineup last season.

Rams re-signed C Brett Romberg to a one-year contract.

Romberg appeared to be a player in the rise when he took over as a starter in 2006, but was limited throughout last season with a high ankle sprain. He'll likely vie with Richie Incognito and Mark Setterstrom to start in camp.

The Rams have expressed interest in re-signed free agent OLs Brett Romberg and Andy McCollum.

A McCollum signing likely won't happen until closer to camp. Romberg began 2007 as the starting center, but got injured like the rest of the Rams' line.

Rams C Brett Romberg will rejoin the starting lineup in Week 16.

Romberg, the former starter who has missed five of the last six games with a high-ankle sprain, will replace Andy McCollum at center. Both men say they knew about the move before last week's game.

Rams CB Brett Romberg limped off the field Sunday with a leg injury.

Romberg came into the game with a sprained ankle, so this may be related. Andy McCollum, who has been starting at left guard, is Romberg's backup.

Brett Romberg left Sunday's game in the second quarter with an ankle injury and did not return.

X-rays were negative, but he's scheduled for an MRI Monday and was wearing a walking boot after the game. "I'm not going to stay out long, I promise you," Romberg said. "I'm coming back ASAP. I've got to. I've got no choice."

Brett Romberg is expected to be the Rams' starting center going forward.

Adam Timmerman's release confirmed Richie Incognito's switch to right guard. Romberg, who went undrafted out of Miami in 2003 but played well last year, could face a mild challenge from 37-year-old Andy McCollum.
