The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the Browns are not interested in free agent Kellen Winslow, despite his claim to the contrary.
New coach Rob Chudzinski coached Winslow at the University of Miami and during his 2007-08 stint as the Browns' offensive coordinator, but apparently isn't keen on a reunion. Winslow's creaky knees likely have something to do with it. Winslow is doing his best to create the appearance of a market for his services, but there shouldn't be any rush to get him under contract. Free agent TE Kellen Winslow says he's drawing interest from the Browns and Panthers in addition to the Raiders.

"I think I could fit in anywhere," Winslow said Monday on NFL AM. "I’m a mismatch. I’m basically a basketball player playing tight end." It's good to see Winslow hasn't lost his confidence after appearing in just one game last season. Although he says he's healthy, any potential interest in Winslow will depend almost exclusively on the state of his troublesome knees.

The Raiders have shown interest in free agent TE Kellen Winslow.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Winslow's knees are "finally healthy" and he wants to "keep going." We'll believe it when we see it. The Raiders are in the market for a tight end and could offer Winslow a minimum salary contract.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer says free agent Kellen Winslow is still "suffering from tremendous pain in his knee" from his 2005 motorcycle accident.

The topic was brought up in a chat when a reader asked if the Browns and Winslow could reunite. Beat writer Mary Kay Cabot points out that new coach Rob Chudzinski and Winslow have a "great relationship" dating back to their days at the University of Miami, but she doesn't see the fit. Winslow appeared in one game with the Patriots in 2012 before requesting his release.

According to SI.com's Peter King, "smart people" knew Kellen Winslow and Patriots coach Bill Belichick "would never be a fit."

King hears from a source that Belichick inquired about Winslow during the offseason only to be told by good friend Greg Schiano, in effect, "You do not want this guy." Winslow had previously said he "had to roll" out of Tampa because he didn't like Schiano's "toes on the line!" approach. It's no surprise that he lasted just a week with Belichick.

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie "looked into" free agent TE Kellen Winslow, but opted to pass on signing the veteran.

The Raiders decided they were fine at tight end with Brandon Myers leading the NFL in catch percentage. While McKenzie respects Winslow's talent, he acknowledges the tight end's knee issues "weigh heavily on any decision."

Patriots released TE Kellen Winslow.

Winslow reportedly asked for the release. Less than a week after signing, the 29-year-old played (four snaps) behind Michael Hoomanawanui and Daniel Fells as the fourth tight end at Baltimore. The Boston Globe's "educated guess" is that Winslow's troublesome knee was in "a lot of pain" this week. That would come as no surprise after early-September reports that he failed a physical. Winslow could opt to take the rest of the season off and try for a comeback in 2013.

Kellen Winslow made one catch for 12 yards in New England's Week 3 loss to the Ravens.

Making his Patriots debut, Winslow ran as the No. 4 tight end behind Rob Gronkowski, Daniel Fells and Michael Hoomanawanui, drawing only two targets. Hoomanawanui also made a catch, his first of the season. None of Winslow, Fells or Hoomanawanui are threats to come into fantasy value during Aaron Hernandez's absence.

Kellen Winslow will be active for Week 3 against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football.

Winslow was just signed on Tuesday. He'll look to replace some of Aaron Hernandez's production, but he's not a recommended fantasy play after only a couple of days in Josh McDaniels' offense. Winslow has been battling soreness in his surgically-repaired right knee for the past two seasons. Fantasy owners looking to replace Hernandez should look toward Brent Celek or Dennis Pitta.

Profootballtalk confirms Kellen Winslow has passed his physical with the Patriots.

With Aaron Hernandez (ankle) and Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring) sidelined and Michael Hoomanawanui struggling badly in Week 2, the Pats needed depth for two-tight end sets. NFL Network's Michael Lombardi suggested Tuesday that Winslow's surgically-repaired knee is in particularly bad shape this year. With no experience in Josh McDaniels offense, Winslow can't be counted on for an impact in fantasy leagues. Hernandez owners should target Brent Celek, Dennis Pitta or Martellus Bennett instead.

Patriots agreed to terms with TE Kellen Winslow, sources tell ESPN Boston.

The deal is pending a physical, which is no small caveat when it comes to Winslow. Although the 29-year-old hasn't missed a game due to injury since 2008, he's dealt with chronic soreness in his right knee for the last couple years. But if healthy, Winslow will provide an athletic pass-catching option for the Patriots while Aaron Hernandez (ankle) rehabs. Just one year ago, he caught 75 passes for 763 yards as a Buc. Winslow projects to quickly find his way onto the field for some reps in two-tight end sets, which the Patriots had been using as a base.

Updating a previous item, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that free agent TE Kellen Winslow did pass his physical with the Patriots.

It's likely just a case of semantics. Winslow's knee may be good enough to play on, but it's certainly nowhere near tip-top shape. Teams wanting a clean physical on Winslow before signing him should just move along.

Free agent TE Kellen Winslow failed his Patriots physical.

Winslow worked out for the Pats on Tuesday, but was done in by his troublesome right knee. If the Pats had truly wanted to sign Winslow, they more than likely could have given him a passing physical. Winslow should find work at some point in 2012.

The Seattle Times calls TE Kellen Winslow's release an "out-of-the-blue shock."

Winslow had been "very involved with what Seattle was doing on offense," functioning as the "receiving specialist" in two-tight end sets. Beat writer Danny O'Neil even writes that Winslow was giving the defense "fits" in practice, leaving his release in favor of Evan Moore as something that "will make you scratch your head until it bleeds." The Seahawks decided that Winslow's practice work wasn't worthy of a $3.3 million salary.

The Patriots will reportedly work out free agent TE Kellen Winslow.

The Pats love to bring in veterans -- especially tight ends -- to update their emergency list. We suspect that no signing is imminent, and that the club just wants to get a look at the current state of Winslow's surgically-repaired knee.
