Chargers released OLB Travis LaBoy.
The writing was on the wall for LaBoy after San Diego used its first-round pick on Melvin Ingram. With Shaun Phillips, Jarret Johnson, Antwan Barnes, and Larry English occupying the other four OLB spots, LaBoy became expendable. The move clears $1.5 million in base salary off the books. LaBoy, 31 in August, finished last season with 38 tackles and one sack in 14 appearances. Mon, May 7, 2012 06:10:00 PM

The Union-Tribune San Diego's Kevin Acee suggests OLB Travis LaBoy could lose his roster spot after the Chargers drafted Melvin Ingram in the first round.

LaBoy will be the odd man out of an outside 'backer rotation that will include Ingram, Shaun Phillips, Jarret Johnson, Antwan Barnes, and Larry English. The Chargers might try shopping LaBoy for a seventh-round pick, but they'll likely just wind up cutting him after the draft. He's 31 and owed $1.5 million.

Chargers OLB Travis LaBoy was forced from Sunday's game against the Ravens with a left knee injury, and is questionable to return.

LaBoy has spent a majority of the first half in the locker room, and is likely done for the night. Antwan Barnes is now in at right outside linebacker for the Chargers.

Chargers agreed to terms with OLB Travis LaBoy on a two-year contract.

It was a two-horse race between the Bolts and Seahawks. Coordinator Greg Manusky, who was in San Fran with LaBoy, may have been the deciding factor. LaBoy racked up five sacks as a backup in Manusky's defense last year, and he should make a similar impact as a situational pass rusher in San Diego.

The Seahawks are now pursuing free agent OLB Travis LaBoy.

The Sacramento Bee reports that the Chargers are still in the lead. Seattle has apparently passed the 49ers in terms of interest, but they're still running second to San Diego. LaBoy's best fit would be with old pal Greg Manusky.

The Chargers have made contact with the player rep for free agent OLB Travis LaBoy.

Though LaBoy's injuries are an obvious concern, new Chargers DC Greg Manusky is well aware that the 30-year-old can get to the passer when kept on a limited snap count. He could be a value signing for a San Diego team that needs to generate increased pressure. Manusky coached Laboy last year in San Francisco.

The North County Times suggests that free agent OLB Travis LaBoy could be a fit with the Chargers.

LaBoy racked up five sacks as a backup last year in Greg Manusky's 49ers defense, and Manusky is now San Diego's defensive coordinator. On paper, the match makes sense. But LaBoy is incredibly injury prone, and ended last year on I.R. with ligament damage in his left knee. He's no more than a stopgap option.

49ers placed OLB Travis LaBoy on injured reserve with ligament damage in his left knee, ending his season.

He won't need surgery, and was given a 6-8 week recovery timetable. LaBoy was productive as a situational rusher during his first year with San Francisco. He finishes 2010 with 28 tackles (21 solo), five sacks, and a fumble recovery. The seven-year veteran was on an affordable one-year deal, but has played well enough to warrant the 49ers to re-sign him.

49ers OLB Travis LaBoy (concussion) is expected to return to practice Tuesday.

LaBoy missed nearly two weeks while dealing with a concussion. He has been chronically injured in recent seasons but could carve out a role as a situational pass rusher if he can manage to stay on the field.

49ers agreed to terms with OLB Travis LaBoy on a one-year, $1.6 million contract.

The injury-plagued LaBoy tore his biceps in 2008 and missed all of last season when the Cardinals cut him after a serious ankle surgery. A skilled pass rusher, LaBoy will help the Niners in situational packages if he can manage to stay off the shelf this year. Manny Lawson's long-term future with the team remains up in the air.

In addition to the 49ers, free agent OLB Travis LaBoy has visits set up with the Dolphins and Patriots.

LaBoy, in San Francisco on Wednesday, is scheduled to visit Miami on Friday and New England sometime next week. The 28-year-old also drew interest from the Jets in February, although they let him leave without a contract.

Free agent OLB Travis LaBoy is visiting the 49ers on Wednesday.

LaBoy, a former second-round pick, would be a situational pass rusher in San Francisco. After sitting out all of 2009, he'd be a low-risk addition.

In addition to the Jets, free agent OLB Travis LaBoy has reportedly drawn interest from the 49ers this offseason.

According to the Nashville Tennessean, LaBoy visited San Francisco prior to Monday's meeting with Jets officials. LaBoy could be of situational pass-rush help in either place, but isn't someone who'd be guaranteed a roster spot.

The Jets are hosting former Cardinals OLB Travis LaBoy for a free agent visit on Monday night.

LaBoy was out of football last year after having biceps and ankle surgeries, then being suspended four games for undisclosed reasons. Though highly injury prone throughout his career, the 28-year-old would be worth a flier.
