The Giants are not expected to re-sign free agents OL Stacy Andrews and DT Dave Tollefson before the start of free agency on March 13.
Because the contract he signed in August was a "minimum salary benefit" deal, Tollefson isn't even allowed to re-sign before the beginning of free agency. Andrews is still recovering from the pulmonary embolism that sent him to injured reserve in December. Both will be viewed as part-time players on the open market. Tue, Feb 28, 2012 08:58:00 PM

Giants coach Tom Coughlin revealed at his Monday press conference that G/T Stacy Andrews (pulmonary embolism) will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

It's a scary situation, but Andrews is expected to make a full recovery. One of the Giants' main reserve linemen, Andrews appeared in nine games this season, starting three. Set to become a free agent, Andrews will turn 31 in June. He'll compete for another backup job somewhere next summer.

Giants G/T Stacy Andrews was hospitalized Saturday night with blood clots in his lungs.

He was deactivated for Sunday's game against the Packers. Andrews, a backup for the Giants, is being treated for "pulmonary embolisms" that were thought to have originated in his legs. The Giants hope he'll be released on Monday.

Giants signed G/T Stacy Andrews, formerly of the Seahawks.

The G-Men have swapped one Andrews brother for another after cutting Shawn last week. Stacy flunked out as Seattle's right guard last season, under-performing for 12 games before losing his job in December. He's headed for a reserve role with the Giants.

Seahawks informed G/T Stacy Andrews of his release.

We've learned to not trust Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who endorsed Andrews after last season. "Stacy is a legitimate factor at right tackle," said Carroll in late March. Seattle proceeded to use its first-round pick on RT James Carpenter, and Andrews was never going to return in the first place with a $5.25 million base salary. He performed miserably last season.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll remains bullish on disappointing G/T Stacy Andrews.

"Stacy is a legitimate factor at right tackle," Carroll said. Andrews did not even play right tackle in 2010. He was Seattle's right guard, turning in 12 below average starts before getting benched late in the season. Carroll says Andrews will be given a shot to start at right tackle in 2011, but he'll likely have to renegotiate his $5.25 million salary first.

Seahawks G/T Stacy Andrews is a candidate for offseason release.

Andrews, 30 in June, started the first 12 games at right guard last season but lost the job to Mike Gibson down the stretch. Andrews was horrible in run blocking, so he won't be worth his scheduled 2011 base salary of $5.25 million.

Seahawks G Stacy Andrews was a healthy scratch Sunday.

The veteran had started every game since Week 2 at right guard, but the Seahawks chose to put Mike Gibson at Andrews' old position and dress Chris White since he has the ability to play both guard and center. Andrews' play has been in decline for a while now.

The Seahawks have promoted Stacy Andrews into the starting lineup at right guard, replacing Max Unger (injured reserve, toe).

Andrews, a former free agent flop in Philadelphia, gets the nod over Chester Pitts and Mansfield Wrotto. Clearly, Pitts (microfracture surgery) isn't anywhere near ready to play. With Tyler Polumbus starting again at left tackle, Seattle is lucky it's facing the pass-rush deficient Broncos on Sunday.

Seahawks acquired T/G Stacy Andrews from the Eagles in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2011.

Friday's acquisition of Reggie Wells signaled the end of the Andrews Brothers era in Philly. Stacy's agent was looking for a landing spot where his client could return to tackle after failing miserably at guard last season. Andrews will ostensibly fill in at left tackle until Russell Okung returns from a high ankle sprain.

Eagles OG Stacy Andrews is reportedly upset that the team traded for OG Reggie Wells.

While Wells' acquisition does make Andrews seemingly expendable, in the short term it probably just means the team isn't overly confident in Max Jean-Gilles, Nick Cole or Fenuki Tupou. There's an outside chance that Wells does take Andrews' starting job, but even if Andrews manages to win out, it's becoming clear that he's not the long-term answer in Philadelphia.

Eagles OG Stacy Andrews is finally 100 percent after fighting through a slow recovery from ACL surgery all last year.

"This year, I'm there in it and going through everything," Andrews said. "Getting a lot of reps, that's the main thing." Andrews is in the mix for the Birds' starting right guard job, and has a head start in the battle with Nick Cole currently at center and Max Jean-Gilles recovering from lap-band surgery.

Eagles G Stacy Andrews says his surgically repaired knee wasn't 100 percent until midseason last year.

With Jamaal Jackson coming off his own ACL injury and Nick Cole shifting to center at least initially, the pressure is on Andrews to perform. He couldn't even beat out Max Jean-Gilles late last season and ended up as a special teamer. The Eagles have to have doubts about Andrews' long-term outlook.

Eagles OL Stacy Andrews has agreed to rework his contract, lowering his 2010 base salary from $2.596 million to $1.15 million.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, though, the Eagles will still pay Andrews' $4.1 million roster bonus. So they're not getting off the hook much after Andrews busted badly as a free agent signing last year. Coming off a torn ACL, the 29-year-old was available for just 10 games, starting twice.

Eagles OG Stacy Andrews and his agent have both indicated that they are willing to restructure his deal to remain in Philly.

Andrews said his surgically repaired knee was not a major issue last season, but the switch from tackle to guard held him back. Though he's willing to take a "minor" paycut, Andrews "wouldn't mess" with his $4.1M roster bonus due in April. That could pose a problem.
