Free agent FB Mike Karney will visit with the Seahawks Tuesday.
Any help blocking the point of attack will be a welcome sight for Seattle's running backs. Karney would bring starting experience as a traditional lead-blocker. Tue, Aug 30, 2011 12:00:00 PM

The Denver Post's Jeff Legwold thinks free agent FB Mike Karney remains a likely target for the Broncos.

There was talk in February after Karney was cut by the Rams that he could end up in Denver, and that seems to remain the case. He'd make sense for a team that figures to run a lot more in the post-Josh McDaniels era.

ESPN's Bill Williamson believes that free agent FB Mike Karney will target the Broncos as a potential landing spot.

Karney was cut by the Rams last week. With John Fox taking over in Denver, adding a blocking fullback with experience in power running makes sense.

Rams released FB Mike Karney.

Karney's role was scaled back last season to point where he was inactive for several games. With Josh McDaniels taking over as offensive coordinator, the fullback position will be minimized further.

Rams agreed to terms with FB Mike Karney on a three-year, $3.6 million contract. The deal includes $1.2 million guaranteed.

St. Louis has searched for a punishing lead blocker since Scott Linehan inexplicably waived Madison Hedgecock in-season two years ago. Karney, 28, should have something left in the tank. He's not much of a threat with the ball in his hands, but only turns 28 this July and was an All Pro in 2006. Karney is used to playing in a dome and figures to help Steven Jackson.

Free agent FB Mike Karney will visit the Rams on Tuesday.

Karney has expressed interest in playing for the division rival Cardinals, but St. Louis needs a lead blocker too. Karney (5'11/258) turns 28 in July.

Free agent FB Mike Karney says his "dream scenario" would be to play for the Cardinals.

Karney went to Arizona State. The Cardinals have a need at lead blocker with Terrelle Smith currently a free agent, so perhaps they'll set up a visit.

Saints released FB Mike Karney.

This shouldn't be surprising as the team has been kicking the tires on fullbacks who can double as short-yardage backs such as Heath Evans and Leonard Weaver. Karney will likely catch on a team needing a more traditional lead-blocker.

Saints FB Mike Karney (knee) has resumed practicing fully and is in line to rejoin the starting lineup this week.

New Orleans had been using journeyman Darian Barnes at lead blocker with Karney out. Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush should benefit from his return.

Saints declared FB Mike Karney, WR David Patten, QB Joey Harrington, DB David Pittman, RB Mike Bell, LB Marvin Mitchell, G Jamar Nesbit and T Jermon Bushrod inactive for Week 13 against the Bucs.

The Saints have all their runners healthy for the first time in a long time, but will be without their lead blocker in Karney.

Saints FB Mike Karney (sprained MCL) plans to test his knee Wednesday, but a Week 13 return is questionable at best.

Next week is looking like a better possibility for the Saints lead blocker. They certainly didn't miss him in the Monday night game against the Packers.

Saints FB Mike Karney will miss 2-4 weeks with a sprained MCL.

Karney is one of the game's better lead blockers. Reggie Bush doesn't need him, but Karney comes in handy on short-yardage runs by Deuce McAllister.

Saints FB Mike Karney suffered a strained MCL in his right knee during the Saints Week 10 loss.

There is no word on the severity, but the injury figures to keep him out of next week's game against the Chiefs.

Saints FB Mike Karney (thumb) has been ruled out for Week 4.

New Orleans won't use a lead blocker Sunday against the 49ers.
Fri, Sep 26, 2008 03:24:00 PM

Saints FB Mike Karney (3-14-1, 5-39-2) scored the first three touchdowns of his career on Sunday night.

World, meet Mike Karney. The third-year fullback, who is known much more for his blocking abilities than anything else, offered further proof that this year's Saints team can make a fantasy anomaly out of just about anyone. Karney offers no actual value, and owners of Deuce McAllister must be fuming after a night like tonight.
