Free agent OGs Rex Hadnot and Antoine Caldwell visited the Patriots on Thursday.
It's Hadnot's first visit of free agency, and Caldwell's fourth. Hadnot, 31, started three games for the Chargers in 2012, but he has started 96 career games in his nine-year career. Both players can play all along the interior. Thu, May 9, 2013 05:17:00 PM

Chargers GM A.J. Smith confirms new G/C Rex Hadnot will push Tyronne Green for the starting left guard job.

"He will be in the mix for the open left guard spot," said Smith. "That's heavy competition right there." Hadnot graded out as one of the league's poorer guards by Pro Football Focus in Arizona last season, but did rate better than Green, who made only eight starts. It will be a battle to watch in Bolts camp.

Chargers signed G/C Rex Hadnot to a one-year contract.

The Cardinals released Hadnot in March due to his hefty salary and underwhelming play. A 16-game starter in 2011, the versatile Hadnot will provide the Chargers with depth at all three positions on the interior line and will push Tyronne Green for the starting left guard job.

The Titans are "monitoring" free agent centers Rex Hadnot and Jamaal Jackson.

The Titans will host Dan Koppen for a free agent visit Thursday, and he appears to be the club's first choice. Jackson is going on age 32 and couldn't beat out undersized rookie Jason Kelce for the Eagles' starting job last season. Hadnot, 30, would be a more versatile option with the ability to play guard.

Cardinals released G/C Rex Hadnot.

Hadnot was set to make just $1.5 million, but was one of the league's poorer guards during his age-29 campaign in 2011. Last season was the first time since 2008 Hadnot had started more than six games. Although most of the top guards are already off the market in free agency, Hadnot will likely have trouble landing a starting gig.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt indicated that journeymen Rex Hadnot and Jeremy Bridges will duke it out for the right guard job.

The Cardinals won't be chasing a veteran free agent to take Deuce Lutui's spot. Hadnot is more than capable of holding down the fort, but the Cardinals have still done little to improve their leaky pass protection.

Veteran Rex Hadnot is expected to slide into the starting lineup at left guard following Alen Faneca's retirement.

Pro Football Focus' player ratings over the past three years suggest Hadnot will actually be an upgrade in both pass protection and run blocking. The Cardinals still have to re-sign C Lyle Sendlein and RG Deuce Lutui. It's a good idea to upgrade at tackle, as well, considering reported trade target Kevin Kolb didn't trust his pocket in Philly.

According to head coach Ken Whisenhunt, Deuce Lutui is not the "automatic starter" at right guard.

Rex Hadnot would start if the team decided to use Lutui off the bench. While we don't see that happening, Whisenhunt's statement speaks volumes about how disappointing Lutui has been thus far.

Cardinals OL Rex Hadnot had to be carted off the practice field Wednesday after "tweaking" his left knee.

Hadnot tore the MCL in the same knee last summer, causing him to miss time early in the season. He was expected to compete for a starting guard spot before the team added Alan Faneca.

Cardinals agreed to terms with OL Rex Hadnot on a three-year, $9 million contract.

Along with Jeremy Bridges, the Cardinals have locked up two versatile veterans in the past eight hours. Unfortunately, neither one is a prototypical right tackle, which is what the team needs. Hadnot's experience is at guard and center, so he could push inconsistent Deuce Lutui and Reggie Wells while adding depth.

FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports that the Cardinals have scheduled a Tuesday visit for free agent OL Rex Hadnot.

A power blocker at 6'2/320, Hadnot would fit into Cards OL coach Russ Grimm's system nicely. The 28-year-old can play both center and guard.

Negotiations between the Broncos and free agent G/C Rex Hadnot have reached an impasse, according to the Denver Post.

Hadnot visited Denver on Friday and it looked like he'd be a nice fit for the Broncos' new power scheme. Hadnot likely wants to see if he can garner more interest and guaranteed money elsewhere.

Free agent G/C Rex Hadnot has set up a visit with the Broncos on Friday.

At 6'2/320, Hadnot fits Josh McDaniels' new power scheme. While he's not a special talent, Hadnot would make for a serviceable fill-in at center with the Broncos likely trying Seth Olsen at left guard.

A league source tells beat writer Mary Kay Cabot that unrestricted free agent G/C Rex Hadnot will most likely be moving on.

The source (which sounds like Hadnot's agent) says that at least five teams will be interested in Hadnot when Friday rolls around. He's a serviceable interior lineman.

Browns declared C Rex Handot, DL Kenyon Coleman, DB Gerard Lawson, DB Ramzee Robinson, OLB Marcus Benard, TE Greg Estandia, WR Jake Allen and third QB Brett Ratliff inactive for Sunday's game against the Chargers.

No surprises for the Browns, who placed Jamal Lewis (concussion) on injured reserve earlier this week. Chris Jennings (shoulder) is good to go and will share work with Jerome Harrison.
