Chargers DL Ryon Bingham is now healthy after missing last season with a torn triceps.

Bingham will return to his rotational lineman role. His return could allow the Chargers to focus on rebuilding the offensive backfield early in the draft as opposed to addressing the run defense.

Bingham, a key rotational lineman, might make it back at some point in the first half of the season, although San Diego will have to decide if he's worth keeping on the roster that long. Rookie Vaughn Martin will pick up snaps.

Chargers signed DL Ryon Bingham to a three-year contract extension.

He was to be a restricted free agent after the season. The former seventh- round pick from Nebraska can play both end and nose in San Diego's 3-4. A reserve, Bingham 3.5 sacks and 48 tackles over the last two seasons.

Bingham isn't considered All-Pro Jamal Williams' eventual successor on the nose but contributed last year, finishing with 15 stops and 1.5 sacks.
