Patriots signed CB Nathan Jones, formerly of the Dolphins.
He replaces Phillip Adams, who was waived Monday despite playing 51 snaps in Sunday's win over the Eagles. Jones will be fourth on the depth chart behind Devin McCourty, Kyle Arrington and Antwaun Molden. Although Jones has experience in the slot, his signing isn't likely to eliminate the Pats' need to occasionally use WR Julian Edelman at nickel back. Wed, Nov 30, 2011 01:12:00 PM

Broncos released CB Nathan Jones.

Jones signed a four-year contract with the Broncos prior to last season and served a nickel back role. It's a sign that Perrish Cox is going to avoid the doghouse and make the team as a No. 4 corner. The Broncos also waived OL Shawn Murphy, OL Curt Porter, LB Braxton Kelley and LB Deron Mayo.

Updating a previous item, CB Nathan Jones' new deal with the Broncos is worth $4.33 million over four years.

The deal was originally announced at $13.6 million, but that number includes "unlikely, if not impossible-to-reach incentives." Jones receives a much more reasonable $1 million signing bonus and a guaranteed $630,000 salary for 2010.

Broncos agreed to terms with CB Nathan Jones on a four-year contract worth up to $13.6 million.

Denver was the only team bidding for him. Jones, 28 in June, was Miami's nickel back last season, picking off two passes and breaking up 10 to go along with 54 tackles. He'll compete in camp for a similar role with 2009 second-round pick Alphonso Smith, who was a big disappointment last year.

Free agent CB Nate Jones has set up a visit with the Broncos, according to Dolphins beat writer Omar Kelly.

Jones would be an upgrade over Ty Law at the nickel back spot and is a solid special teamer. Alphonso Smith is also in the mix for the job.

Free agent CB Nate Jones won't be back with the Dolphins, a league source tells beat writer Mike Berardino.

Jones is a solid special teamer and decent nickel back, but the Dolphins are suddenly deep at corner with Will Allen, Sean Smith and Vontae Davis. Jones will attract interest on the open market thanks to his versatility.

Cowboys free agent DB Nathan Jones will meet with the Dolphins on Wednesday.

Like half the other guys the Dolphins have met with this offseason, Jones was a Bill Parcells guy in Dallas. He can play both corner and safety, and is a solid contributor on special teams. The Dolphins could look to have him lineup alongside Ted Ginn Jr. on kickoffs.
