Steelers FB/TE Sean McHugh, out with a knee scope, is in danger of losing his roster spot to rookie FB/TE David Johnson.

There is some concern that McHugh's cleanup could go the way of Darnell Stapleton's, where further surgery is required. Meanwhile, Johnson is taking advantage of the extra snaps and has the coaches' attention.

Coach Mike Tomlin offered no details -- not even a body part -- simply calling it a "clean-up." He's expected to be out a month, which means more playing time for fullback Carey Davis.

Steelers agreed to terms with FB/TE Sean McHugh on a three-year, $2.57 million contract.

McHugh, a converted tight end, impressed the Steelers with his work at fullback down the stretch last season. He'll split time with Carey Davis again in 2009.

The Steelers extended low restricted free agent offers ($1.01 million) to FB/TE Sean McHugh and CB Anthony Madison.

Madison is only a special teamer. McHugh started at fullback down the stretch and into the playoffs last year, but isn't a long-term solution there.

The Lions other TE, Casey FitzSimmons, left with a leg injury, and McHugh saw a fair number of targets. He was mauled in the end zone on what should have been called pass interference, but wasn't. It was a big game, but McHugh isn't someone playoff teams should be counting on.

Lions declared H-back Sean McHugh, QB Dan Orlovsky, G Frank Davis, WR Mike Williams, CB Jamar Fletcher, G/T Blaine Saipaia, DT Shaun Cody, and LB Anthony Cannon inactive for Week 10.

McHugh started last week but Cory Schlesinger is now healthy. Williams was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. Cody is still hurt.
