Steelers wavied TE Sean McHugh, TE Eugene Bright, WR Brandon London, OG Dorian Brooks, and OT Kyle Jolly.
McHugh, an H-back type, spent last season on injured reserve with a knee injury. The Steelers have moved on to David Johnson in the FB/TE role. London made some noise as a special teamer during camp, but the Steelers have much better options at receiver. Fri, Sep 3, 2010 04:46:00 PM

Steelers placed FB/TE Sean McHugh (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

McHugh was battling with David Johnson for a job. He can block and impressed the coaches when he switched to fullback last season.

Steelers FB/TE Sean McHugh, out with a knee scope, is in danger of losing his roster spot to rookie FB/TE David Johnson.

There is some concern that McHugh's cleanup could go the way of Darnell Stapleton's, where further surgery is required. Meanwhile, Johnson is taking advantage of the extra snaps and has the coaches' attention.

Steelers FB/TE Sean McHugh is undergoing arthroscopic surgery Wednesday.

Coach Mike Tomlin offered no details -- not even a body part -- simply calling it a "clean-up." He's expected to be out a month, which means more playing time for fullback Carey Davis.

Steelers agreed to terms with FB/TE Sean McHugh on a three-year, $2.57 million contract.

McHugh, a converted tight end, impressed the Steelers with his work at fullback down the stretch last season. He'll split time with Carey Davis again in 2009.

The Steelers extended low restricted free agent offers ($1.01 million) to FB/TE Sean McHugh and CB Anthony Madison.

Madison is only a special teamer. McHugh started at fullback down the stretch and into the playoffs last year, but isn't a long-term solution there.

Steelers TE Sean McHugh will start at fullback with Carey Davis expected to miss Sunday's game.

The Lions preferred McHugh at fullback, but he'll probably step in as Pittsburgh's third tight end behind Heath Miller and Matt Spaeth.
Wed, Sep 3, 2008 12:04:00 PM

Lions TE Sean McHugh caught three passes for 60 yards in Week 14.

The Lions other TE, Casey FitzSimmons, left with a leg injury, and McHugh saw a fair number of targets. He was mauled in the end zone on what should have been called pass interference, but wasn't. It was a big game, but McHugh isn't someone playoff teams should be counting on.

McHugh started last week but Cory Schlesinger is now healthy. Williams was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. Cody is still hurt.
