Saints placed K Martin Gramatica (groin) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The man formerly known as "Automatica" was anything but in five games this year, going only 6-for-10 on field goal attempts and losing his kickoff job to P Steve Weatherford. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in 2009. Wed, Oct 8, 2008 02:06:00 PM

Asked about kicker Martin Gramatica, Saints coach Sean Payton didn't exactly offer a vote of confidence.

Gramatica has missed four of his past seven attempts. Said Payton, "I'm not sure if Martin is 100-percent healthy right now (with a nagging groin injury), let alone whether he's my guy." Gramatica may get one more game to try to prove himself reliable.

Saints coach Sean Payton gave K Martin Gramatica a vote of confidence this week.

Gramatica missed two kicks, including the potential game winner, against the Broncos Sunday. He's at the stage of his career where job security is an issue if he has another game like the last.

Martin Gramatica has reportedly outkicked rookie Taylor Mehlhaff in Saints training camp.

Draft picks usually have the inside track on kicking jobs, but Gramatica is reliable and has been more consistent. Mehlhaff has three preseason games left to show he's worth a roster spot. The first kicker drafted in April, it's unlikely he'd clear waivers if they tried to get him on the practice squad.

Saints re-signed K Martin Gramatica to a one-year contract.

He'll get a base salary of $730,000 in 2008. Gramatica was with the Saints for the final three games of last season and made all five of his field goal attempts, including two kicks of over 40 yards and one of over 50. He should have a leg up on beating out Olindo Mare for the starting job.

Saints signed K Martin Gramatica, formerly of the Cowboys.

Gramatica connected on 7-of-9 field goal attempts last year with Dallas, but couldn't beat out rookie Nick Folk in training camp. The Saints play their next two games at home in the Superdome against Arizona and Philadelphia, so you could do worse if you're desperate for a fantasy placekicker.

Cowboys cut K Martin Gramatica off the injured reserve.

Gramatica was cut without reaching an injury settlement, which will likely result in a grievance. He is free to sign with a new team, but doing would forfeit his shot at a settlement.

Cowboys placed K Martin Gramatica on injured reserve, ending his season.

He could potentially reach an injury settlement later and join another team. Nick Folk is the Dallas kicker.

Martin Gramatica is expected to miss Thursday's preseason finale at Minnesota with a strained right hamstring.

If Gramatica is out for long, Nick Folk could replace him as a starter.

Martin Gramatica suffered a strained hamstring on Saturday.

Gramatica was injured while kicking off. He may undergo an MRI exam Sunday. If Gramatica is out for long, Nick Folk could replace him as a starter.

In the battle to be the Cowboys kicker, Martin Gramatica converted from 24 and 47 yards and blasted a kickoff into the end zone on Thursday. Rookie Nick Folk made a 25-yard field goal in the game.

Dallas is giving Folk every opportunity to win the job, but Gramatica remains the favorite. If the veteran wins the job, he’s worth using in fantasy leagues.

Cowboys re-signed K Martin Gramatica to a two-year contract.

Gramatica made a respectable comeback in 2006 under Bill Parcells, good enough that he may only face minimal competition in training camp under the new regime. He'll be worth considering late in fantasy leagues.

Dallas is expected to re-sign K Martin Gramatica as soon as Monday.

The team remains in discussions with right tackle Marc Colombo. Gramatica connected on seven-of-nine field-goal tries last season.

With C Andre Gurode under contract long term, the Cowboys are expected to make re-signing placekicker Martin Gramatica, right tackle Marc Colombo, and punter Mat McBriar their top priorities.

McBriar is a restricted free agent, the others are unrestricted. McBriar could get the second-round tender. Even if he's re-signed, it would be a surprise to see Gramatica not presented with competition in 2007.

Cowboys signed K Martin Gramatica.

Gramatica's had his share of mental relapses, but he is excellent on kickoffs and kicked well for New England and Indianapolis earlier this year. With Dallas scoring so many points lately, Gramatica is a fine fantasy pickup if you need help.
