The Patriots worked out free agent DL Spencer Johnson on Thursday.
It's Johnson's first action of free agency. The 31-year-old nine-year veteran appeared in 14 games for the Bills last season, registering 19 tackles and two sacks as a rotational player. The Patriots have a crowded front line. Thu, May 30, 2013 05:33:00 PM

Bills reserve DL Spencer Johnson is sidelined with an ankle injury, and has been ruled out for Week 5.

Johnson appears to have a high-ankle sprain, and is week-to-week. Sent to the bench following Buffalo's acquisition of Mario Williams and Mark Anderson, Johnson has just four tackles and zero sacks through four games.

Bills DE Spencer Johnson (hamstring) is due back this weekend, but he's not expected to see his regular snaps.

The Bills want more playing time for rookie Alex Carrington. "We've got a pretty good rotation going there now," coach Chan Gailey said. Carrington, a third-round pick, saw his most extensive action of the year in Week 12 and recorded his first sack. Johnson, who is due a $3 million salary in 2011, has 32 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble this season.

Bills coach Chan Gailey expects DE Spencer Johnson to miss "one game and maybe two."

He did add that there was an "outside chance" Johnson would practice this week, but it doesn't sound like he's optimistic about the lineman's chances of suiting up this weekend. Johnson pulled his hamstring in Sunday's win over the Lions.

Bills DE Spencer Johnson left Sunday's game with hamstring injury.

Johnson has been ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Spencer Johnson and Marcus Stroud are expected to be moved to defensive end in the Bills' new 3-4 scheme.

Kyle Williams and Chris Kelsay, coming off of career seasons, are the odd men out. Williams (305 lbs) is small for a nose tackle while Kelsay (261 lbs) is big for an outside linebacker edge rusher. Expect the Bills to be active once the trading season starts.

Bills DT Spencer Johnson will start in place of Marcus Stroud (knee) on Sunday.

After injuring his knee in last week's loss, Stroud wasn't able to practice all week. The Bills may also be without other starting DT Kyle Williams (questionable, knee). John McCargo would make his first start of the season if Williams can't go. Maurice Jones-Drew is licking his chops at this matchup.

Spencer Johnson's five-year contract with the Bills is worth $17.5 million, including $6 million in guarantees.

We wonder what Marv Levy thinks about the Bills' moves so far. A former undrafted free agent, Johnson doesn't have much tape on him after playing behind the Williamses in Minnesota. To our knowledge, no other teams were pursuing him before he signed with Buffalo.

The Bills and DT Spencer Johnson have reportedly agreed to terms on a five-year contract.

Johnson is a versatile player who has been Minnesota's third tackle behind the Williams behemoths the last few years. He could have some untapped potential, and should fit in Buffalo's tackle rotation. This could mean the Bills are dropping out of the Marcus Stroud bidding.

Vikings re-signed DT Spencer Johnson to a one-year, $850,000 contract.

Johnson is a gap-shooting reserve who served as Minnesota's third tackle last season. The Vikings could use an upgrade at his position.

Vikings placed defensive tackle Spencer Johnson on injured reserve with an ankle injury, ending his season.

The team's third tackle suffered a high ankle sprain against the Jets.

Vikings DT Spencer Johnson suffered a high ankle sprain Sunday.

The team's No. 3 tackle, Johnson did get good news when he found out his knee ligaments are intact. Ross Kolodziej is next on the depth chart.

DE Spencer Johnson suffered ankle and knee injuries in Week 15 against New York.

Johnson reportedly needed X-rays and is scheduled for an MRI.
Sun, Dec 17, 2006 08:05:00 PM

DE Spencer Johnson (knee) is doubtful for Sunday's game.

Johnson played last week after missing three games, but apparently had a setback. As usual, Minnesota's defense is in rough shape.
Thu, Nov 10, 2005 10:40:00 AM

Spencer Johnson (knee) will miss Sunday's game against the Packers.

In Johnson's absence, the Vikings are expected to use more 3-4 defenses. Erasmus James and Lance Johnstone will get more playing time at defensive end.
