Former Bengals and Patriots RB Corey Dillon will not face charges stemming from his arrest for suspicion of spousal abuse in California earlier this month.
Dillon was arrested on May 1 after his wife claimed she was assaulted, but the Los Angeles County D.A.'s office found insufficient evidence for a conviction. His wife has since filed for divorce. Dillon was also arrested in April for DUI. Fri, May 14, 2010 10:28:00 AM

Former Bengals and Patriots RB Corey Dillon was arrested for DUI early Wednesday morning, according to TMZ.

Former Patriots RB Corey Dillon says he never contemplated a comeback in 2007.

"During the season, I had no itch," he said. "I am comfortable, I am at peace. I am content with how my career started and ended. I have no regrets." Dillon would be 34 if he returned to play in 2008. If not, the 4-time Pro Bowler ends his career with 11,241 rushing yards (4.3 YPC) and 89 total touchdowns.

When asked Monday if he's interested in free agent Corey Dillon, Coach Bill Belichick said he's happy with the four RB currently on the Patriots' roster.

Dillon's agent said over the weekend that his client would go back to New England if the Pats will have him. However, Belichick says the team doesn't plan to add a fifth running back, even after the season-ending loss of Sammy Morris. Kyle Eckel and Heath Evans are both contributing on special teams.

The player representative for free agent Corey Dillon says his client "would absolutely, positively be interested in coming back to play for the Patriots."

"When Sammy Morris got injured, he kind of got an inkling, he got the idea something may happen down the road," the agent said. "So he started working out a couple weeks ago to get in shape." The Patriots weren't interested in Dillon in the off-season, and it's uncertain if Morris' injury will change that. Odds are they won't sign him.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports free agent Corey Dillon "is receptive" to the idea of returning to the Patriots.

Schefter says Dillon would be open to playing for a playoff bound franchise, and also lists Green Bay as a possible destination. The Pats have a need at backup running back with Sammy Morris having landed on season ending injured reserve. Frankly, the Patriots would have probably shown interest before now if they had interest in using Dillon this season.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Bucs contacted free agent Corey Dillon after learning that Cadillac Williams would miss the season.

Dillon has reportedly been staying in shape on his own, but turned down the Bucs' offer. There also are rumors making the rounds that the Bucs might inquire about Tiki Barber, whose brother Ronde is a cornerback for Tampa.

The player rep for free agent Corey Dillon says his client would be interested in playing football again "if the right team called."

"Chicago is definitely a right team," agent Steve Feldman told the Chicago Sun Times. The paper believes the Bears will begin scouring the waiver wire and other teams' rosters if Cedric Benson doesn't begin producing. Benson should at least get a few more weeks before his job is in serious jeopardy.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis says his team has not considered bringing in ex-Bengal and free agent Corey Dillon in for a visit.

"Corey had a fine career here," Lewis said. "He finished it up with a fine career in New England." The Bengals may look for a veteran back in the wake of Kenny Irons' torn ACL, but Dillon is probably out of the question.

Corey Dillon says "the window is closed" and there "is no doubt in (his) mind" that his playing days are through.

"I haven't announced it publicly," Dillon told the Boston Globe. "But I will not play football again. If I really wanted to, I think I could run for 800, 900 yards. I'd share carries, or take the load if needed. But for me, the risk is way greater than the reward. (The AFC Championship) was the last game I played."

Corey Dillon reportedly "likes the Dolphins" but Miami hasn't called about offering him a job.

Miami will only look for a veteran running back if Ronnie Brown gets hurt or Lorenzo Booker flops in camp. If Dillon is keeping himself in shape, he could still wind up getting signed somewhere during camp after an injury hits.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Corey Dillon is again leaning towards calling it career.

Dillon, 32, is reportedly living in Malibu and spending time with his daughters. The Bills and Titans had been interested, but Dillon stuck to his guns and wouldn't take a job as a backup. Something could change closer to the season, but we're not counting on Dillon playing in 2007.

The Rams have reportedly entered the mix for free agent Corey Dillon.

Dillon's agent says a visit with Tennessee is still in the "planning stages" and that Philadelphia and Buffalo remain interested in his client.

Jeff Fisher has spoken to Corey Dillon "several times" about playing for the Titans next season.

Dillon will meet with the team shortly and then the Titans will decide whether to pursue Dillon or Michael Turner. "Both of them can help us out, but they are different situations. One is just getting started, and the other is kind of winding down. But Corey has something left," Fisher said.

The Titans still plan to visit with free agent Corey Dillon, but not until later this week or early next week.

"I think it is more a matter of logistics," GM Mike Reinfeldt said of why Dillon's meeting with the team was postponed from Wednesday. "I don't think it has anything to do with (Tuesday visitor Michael) Turner at all."
