Vikings released RG Anthony Herrera.

Three months shy of his 32nd birthday, Herrera was due $2.75 million between salary and bonuses next season. It's a reasonable rate for a solid interior lineman, but Herrera graded out as the league's ninth worst right guard in Pro Football Focus' 2011 rankings. Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2004, Herrera had started 64 games since 2007. The Vikings currently have only Joe Berger and Brandon Fusco under contract at guard.

Vikings RG Anthony Herrera is a candidate to be released this offseason.

Herrera continues to be plagued by injuries, missing four games and getting dominated up front in several more. Turning 32 in June, Herrera is due $2.75 million in salary and bonuses. The Vikes could turn to Brandon Fusco or move Charlie Johnson from tackle.

Vikings OL Anthony Herrera was forced from Saturday's game with a low back injury.

His return is questionable. Rookie Brandon Fusco replaced him in the lineup at right guard.

Vikings RG Anthony Herrera (knee) won't play in Monday's game against the Packers.

Joe Berger will get the start once again. The Vikings didn't miss Herrera in Week 8, racking up 361 yards of offense in a win over the Panthers.

Vikings RG Anthony Herrera will miss up to two weeks with a torn PCL in his left knee.

It's an injury that shouldn't require surgery, but may cause temporary chemistry issues along Minnesota's offensive line. Herrera has been playing poorly, however, grading out as Pro Football Focus' 51st-ranked guard as he entered Week 7. The Vikings may turn to rookie Brandon Fusco in the meantime.

Vikings RG Anthony Herrera left Sunday's game in the second quarter with a left knee injury.

It's the same knee that Herrera had surgically repaired late last year. It looked like his knee was hyperextended on contact, though he walked off under his own power. Backup Brandon Fusco has come on his replacement. Herrera returned to the game in the third quarter but was in and out the rest of the way while limping badly.

Anthony Herrera will be the Vikings' starting right guard in the team's third preseason game Saturday.

Herrera is coming off surgeries to both his ACL and triceps, but the Vikings are desperate. Chris DeGeare and Ryan Cook have done nothing to establish themselves as starters. This Vikings' offensive line remains a major area of concern.

Vikings activated RG Anthony Herrera (ACL, triceps surgeries) from active/PUP.

He's reportedly ahead of schedule in his rehab, and Herrera will now be able to avoid spending the first six games on PUP. It would seem the Vikings finally got some good news for their offensive line, although Herrera isn't a very good offensive lineman. He may lose his starting job to Chris DeGeare.

Vikings RG Anthony Herrera (ACL surgery) is unlikely to be cleared for Week 1 if he doesn't make a preseason appearance.

That would mean either Chris DeGeare or Ryan Cook would break training camp as the Vikings' starting right guard. Still just nine months removed from tearing his ACL, Herrera is far from guaranteed to be ready for the opener.

Vikings RG Anthony Herrera (ACL surgery) says he's 90 percent healed.

Herrera, who tore his left ACL in November and also underwent triceps surgery this offseason, will need to get to 100 percent quickly. At age 30 and showing signs of decline, Herrera's roster spot isn't guaranteed.

Vikings RG Anthony Herrera (ACL surgery) is still not making hard cuts on his knee.

It's only been about five months since Herrera went under the knife, so it's not like he's behind schedule. Still, Herrera is coming off a couple of down years and is owed $2.65 million in 2011. He's no lock to make the final roster.

Vikings RG Anthony Herrera (ACL surgery) has graduated to running in a straight line.

Herrera had the knee surgery in November before undergoing a procedure on his triceps in January. He'll be touch-and-go for the start of training camp if the Vikes don't release him before then.

Vikings RG Anthony Herrera, who underwent ACL surgery two months ago, revealed that he will also undergo triceps surgery next week.

Herrera's body seems to be breaking down at age 30. A prime culprit in the Vikings' subpar run blocking the past two years, he's a candidate for release this offseason with a $2.65 million base salary.

Vikings placed RG Anthony Herrera on injured reserve with a torn left ACL, ending his season.

Herrera, 30, has been a starter in Minnesota for the last four seasons, but the team may explore a change at right guard this offseason. Herrera has been one of the main culprits with regard to Adrian Peterson's shaky run blocking. His $2.65 million 2011 salary is manageable, though, so Herrera may be worth keeping as a backup even if he loses his starting job.
