GM Ozzie Newsome insists there is room for both Vontae Leach and fourth-round FB Kyle Juszczyk on the roster.
Leach graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 fullback last season and was a first-team All-Pro selection for the third straight year. But he carries a $4.33 million cap number and the Ravens are shifting away from a power running game. It's quite possible they'll try to save some money and get away with Juszczyk as Ray Rice's lead blocker. Apr 30 - 10:59 AM

The Baltimore Sun cautions that FB Vonta Leach should be "a little nervous" about his roster spot.

Leach is reportedly "the next man up" if the Ravens need to clear more cap space by chopping veterans. The 31-year-old fullback is due $3 million in the final year of his contract, and he counts $4.33 million against the cap.

Ravens FB Vonta Leach will not need any offseason surgeries.

Leach didn't miss a game for the sixth straight year, but did battle some knee and ankle issues on his right side. They'll heal with simple rest. Leach's real concern is the status of his contract. Despite another first-team All-Pro campaign, it's unclear if the Ravens will be able to handle the $4.33 million cap charge and $3 million base he's due in 2013.

The Baltimore Sun mentions Ravens FB Vonta Leach as a potential offseason cap casualty.

Leach has been a first-team All Pro each of the last three seasons, but his cap charge is $4.33 million entering the final year of his deal. Baltimore will need to get creative this offseason in order to keep all of its potential free agents.

Ravens FB Vonta Leach has been a first-team All-Pro selection in each of the last two seasons.

Simply put, Leach is the best lead blocker in the NFL. In 2010, he paved the way for Arian Foster's 1,616 rushing yards. Last year, he came to Baltimore and Ray Rice broke off 1,364 yards while raising his yards-per-carry average from 4.0 to 4.7. It's another reason Rice is a strong and safe play in the top half of fantasy's first round.

Ravens signed FB Vonta Leach to a three-year, $11 million contract.

You can close the book on Le'Ron McClain's tenure in Baltimore. Not in search of more carries like McClain, Leach was reportedly interested in becoming the league's highest paid fullback. He should be pretty close to it when the dust settles. Leach could also be the key to a Ray Rice turnaround, who saw his yards per carry drop from 5.3 in 2009 to 4.0 last season. The Ravens were going to be hard-pressed to improve on McClain as a lead-blocker this summer, but that's just what they've done.

The Broncos are reportedly trying to sign free agent FB Vonta Leach.

Leach is the best lead-blocker in football, and the Broncos could use him in John Fox's conservative, run-first scheme. Denver's current starter is special teamer Spencer Larsen. Leach has also drawn interest from Baltimore and Dallas.

Five teams have reportedly expressed interest in free agent FB Vonta Leach.

Leach's agent would only confirm the Texans, but Fox 26 Houston is told the Ravens, Cowboys, Broncos, and Giants are also in the mix. The Giants released Madison Hedgecock, and there are rumors that former Ravens FB Le'Ron McClain is eyeing the Chiefs.

Free agent FB Vonta Leach lists the Giants, Seahawks, and Chargers as possible landing spots in free agency.

Leach's agent was shopping the Pro Bowler around the league when the lockout was temporarily lifted on draft weekend, so there's a good chance the interest is mutual with each of the three teams. Leach is reportedly seeking the richest fullback deal in NFL history.

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain still expects the Texans to at least make free agent FB Vonta Leach an offer once the transactions freeze is lifted.

However, McClain has reported all offseason that Leach has designs on becoming the league's highest paid fullback, and that the Texans are unlikely to be his highest bidder. Unless the market for his services is surprisingly small, Leach is likely done in Houston.

According to the Houston Chronicle, free agent Vonta Leach has designs on becoming the highest paid fullback in the NFL.

That distinction is currently held by the Eagles' Leonard Weaver, who signed a three-year, $11.2 million deal last spring with $6.5 million guaranteed. Leach, 29, is getting support from Andre Johnson, who called him "the best at what he does." Leach made the Pro Bowl in 2010 and was a first-team All Pro.

Beat writer John McClain says the Texans will make free agent FB Vonta Leach an offer after the lockout.

The Texans must at least attempt to bring back Leach, who is one of the more popular players in the Houston locker room. But we'll know how serious the Texans are by the size of their offer. The 2010 first-team All-Pro lead blocker wants a big raise and isn't convinced the Texans will give it to him.

The Houston Chronicle's John McLain believes the longer the lockout drags on, the more likely the Texans are to re-sign free agent Vonta Leach.

Leach has already said he doesn't anticipate being back, and McClain thinks he wants to be the NFL's highest paid fullback. However, if the lockout wipes out almost all of a potential free agency period, the market for his services figures to be fairly compressed, opening the door for Houston to re-sign him at a reasonable price.

The agent for free agent FB Vonta Leach is reportedly already "shopping his client around the league."

Heeding the advice of player counselors James Quinn and Jeffrey Kessler, agent Ralph Vitolo is gauging the market for his client despite the NFL's continued efforts to stall the beginning of free agency. Vitolo can't be the only agent making the rounds, and is further evidence of what a chaotic mess the league has on its hands.

GM Rick Smith confirmed Tuesday that the Texans want to re-sign FB Vonta Leach.

"He knows we want him back," said Smith. Apparently Smith's opening offer didn't show it, though, because Leach believes the front office wants to go in a different direction.
