The Union-Tribune San Diego suggests free agent Cadillac Williams as a tailback the Chargers might target to pair with Ryan Mathews.
It sounds like the Bolts will go cheap on a No. 2 back and give Mathews the reigns. (We'd recommend to immediately send out trade feelers for Mathews in Dynasty leagues.) Williams turns 30 in April, but can play on third down and quietly averaged a career-high 4.15 yards per carry last season. He's no difference maker, but has enough gas left to serve as a clear No. 2 running back. Wed, Feb 29, 2012 08:32:00 PM

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch does not expect the Rams to re-sign free agent Cadillac Williams.

The Post also expects the Rams to let fellow free agent RB Jerious Norwood walk, and to potentially look to the draft for Steven Jackson's new backup. Williams rushed 87 times for 361 yards in 2011, adding 14 catches for 93 yards. He should at least get a camp invite in 2012.

Cadillac Williams rushed seven times for 17 yards and a touchdown in St. Louis' Week 17 loss to the 49ers.

The touchdown was Cadillac's first of the year. Active for only 11 games thanks to a calf injury, Williams averaged a respectable 4.1 yards per carry this season, but played a disappointingly small role in the passing game, making only 14 catches. A free-agent-to-be, Williams likely showed enough earn a roster spot somewhere in 2012, but won't be guaranteed a backup job.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch confirms that Cadillac Williams (calf) will not be active Sunday against the Seahawks.

Jerious Norwood is expected to be active as Steven Jackson's backup for the first time since Week 3. The extent of Williams' injury is unknown, but a calf tear could sideline him for several weeks. Now injured and offering scant upside if Jackson got injured, Cadillac can be dropped in 12-team leagues.

Cadillac Williams (calf) missed practice again on Thursday.

Williams is not expected to be available against the Seahawks. Scat back Jerious Norwood (hamstring) is practicing, however, and will likely back up Steven Jackson on Sunday.

Cadillac Williams (calf) missed Rams practice on Wednesday.

Williams pulled the calf while running out onto the field for a play in last week's win over the Browns. He doesn't appear likely to return for Week 11.
Wed, Nov 16, 2011 03:54:00 PM

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo revealed after Sunday's game that Cadillac Williams suffered his calf injury "going out onto the field."

It sounds like Williams strained the calf running from the sideline to the huddle, rather than during an offensive play. It's bad luck, but probably more predictable for a running back whose body has fallen apart at age 29. Williams did not return to the game and is uncertain to play going forward.

Cadillac Williams was forced from Sunday's game against the Browns with a calf injury, and is doubtful to return.

His day is almost certainly through. With Jerious Norwood inactive, the Rams are left with just Quinn Porter behind Steven Jackson.

Cadillac Williams (thigh) participated fully in practice Wednesday and is not on the Week 7 injury report.

The thigh contusion Williams suffered in Week 6 is not a concern. He'll be ready to go in a backup role behind Steven Jackson Sunday.

The MRI taken Monday on Cadillac Williams' thigh injury showed "no further damage."

He is being called "day-to-day" and we'll know his status later in the week. If he cannot suit up, Steven Jackson will get a few more touches.
Mon, Oct 17, 2011 10:13:00 PM

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo is calling Cadillac Williams' Week 6 injury a thigh contusion.

It was initially called a knee injury for Cadillac, who's had problems with those throughout his career. Williams was carted off. Caddy's status for Week 7 against the Cowboys is uncertain, but he only sounds day to day.

Cadillac Williams was forced from Sunday's game against the Packers with a knee injury.

He hobbled off the field without assistance late in the fourth quarter before being carted to the locker room. His day is surely through, while his status for Week 7 is looking doubtful. With Steven Jackson back to full health, Williams had received just four carries before going down.

Cadillac Williams (hamstring, probable) practiced fully again on Friday.

Cadillac will back up a healthy Steven Jackson Sunday against Washington.
Fri, Sep 30, 2011 04:12:00 PM

Cadillac Williams (hamstring) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice.

Williams is expected to play Sunday, but he's without fantasy value now that Steven Jackson is taking more of the practice reps. He's back to "handcuff" status.

Cadillac Williams (hamstring) was limited in Rams practice Wednesday.

Williams was only "slightly" limited, however, and is fully expected to be available against the Redskins. Cadillac is currently averaging 4.04 yards per carry. With Steven Jackson back healthy, Williams will now be a backup.
