Former Ohio State and Broncos RB Maurice Clarett said he "got paid more in college than I do now in the UFL."
Clarett, who lasted all of one season at Ohio State and one training camp with the Broncos, is back in the news thanks to a new book. He talks about taking "golf, fishing and softball as classes" in Columbus, owning three cars, doing drugs, robbing people and chasing women. "I was living the NFL life in college," he said. Since getting out of prison for an armed robbery conviction in 2009, Clarett has been playing for the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks. Sat, Dec 15, 2012 04:03:00 PM

Profootballtalk.com is reporting that the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks have agreed to terms with former Broncos RB Maurice Clarett.

PFT is told that Clarett earned the roster spot by impressing in Sunday's tryout and that "name recognition" played no part in the signing. Clarett hasn't played in a football game since 2003 with Ohio State. He spent the majority of 2006-2009 in prison after being convicted of armed robbery. Here's hoping he takes advantage of the opportunity and turns his life around.

UFL commissioner Michael Huygue will not allow Maurice Clarett to sign with the Omaha Nighthawks until the team proves that it has a support system in place.

"Just throwing him to the wolves, I wouldn't be interested in that," Huyghue explained. Clarett had to ask permission to leave the state of Ohio after being in prison for 3 1/2 years on a gun-related incident. Clarett's Sunday workout will be closed to the public and the media.

Maurice Clarett has been granted permission to leave the state of Ohio to try out for the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks.

Nighthawks GM Rick Mueller indicated that he wanted to help Clarett take "positive steps toward being the good citizen and solid family man that he aspires to be." Clarett lacked the talent and commitment level to play in the NFL. He's now been out of football altogether for four years.

Former Broncos third-round pick Maurice Clarett has asked a judge to allow him to travel so he can try out for the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks.

The 26-year-old Clarett is currently enrolled at Ohio State while living at a detention facility in the Columbus area. The Nighthawks, who also own the rights to colossal bust JaMarcus Russell, are loaded with former NFL players such as Jeff Garcia, Ahman Green, Robert Ferguson, and D.J. Shockley.

Former Broncos third-round pick Maurice Clarett has re-enrolled at Ohio State after being released from prison.

Clarett, who turns 27 in October, was imprisoned over three years for robbery and weapons charges. He's indicated previously that he wants to resume his football career, but for now is focusing on finishing his college degree.

Former Broncos third-round pick Maurice Clarett is eligible for release to a community-based jail on Wednesday, pending an Ohio judge's approval.

Imprisoned former Broncos third-round pick Maurice Clarett has withdrawn his request for clemency so he could resume his NFL career.

Don't worry, we're laughing too. Clarett, still just 25, never had "any chance" of getting out early, according to the Ohio D.A.'s office. He could be released to a halfway house in March, but Clarett won't be back in the big leagues.

Imprisoned former Broncos draft pick Maurice Clarett has petitioned the Ohio Parole Board for clemency in hopes of being released early.

Clarett was sentenced to 3.5 years in Sept. 2006. His attorney claims Clarett has offers from the NFL, CFL, and AFL if he's released in "the next few months." Clarett is still only 25, so perhaps he could carve out a career at a lower-level league. But he won't be back in the bigs anytime soon.

Former Broncos third-round pick Maurice Clarett wrote in his blog Monday that he wants to play football again.

"I can’t hold these feelings in anymore," he blogged. "I want to play football again. I love the game. I have so much penitentiary aggression pinned up inside of me. I want to hit someone. I am 25 but I feel like I am 18." Clarett, serving a 3 1/2 year sentence, is scheduled for release before the 2010 season, but he might be hard pressed to even get UFL tryout.

Former Broncos third-round pick Maurice Clarett has begun blogging from prison.

His production is surprisingly consistent, despite needing a family member to post entries because he doesn't have internet access. Clarett received a seven and a half year sentence in Sept. 2006 after reaching a plea bargain on charges of robbery and illegally carrying concealed firearms. He can apply for early release in early 2010.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello revealed to Profootballtalk.com that Jamaican runner Usain Bolt would not be eligible to sign with any team as a free agent.

He'd have to declare for the NFL Draft. Bolt would need three years to pass since he graduated high school to be eligible. His split time in the 40 yards is 3.5, but Bolt is only 6'5/190. Adrian Wilson would probably love to see him go across the middle.

Maurice Clarett will at least serve 3.5 years in prison after agreeing to a plea bargain Monday.

This will probably be our last Clarett post for a while unless we can find enough stats to set up a Ohio Correctional Facilities fantasy league. Thanks for the memories Mo.

According to ESPN, Maurice Clarett has ties to an alleged member of an Israeli crime organization, and might have been in possession of firearms last week to protect himself against mob activity.

An assumed member of an Israeli crime organization called The Jerusalem Group reportedly became Clarett's sponsor and adviser in late 2004. He gave him cash, a BMW, bodyguards, drivers and beachfront lodging in Malibu, while agreeing to receive 60 percent of Clarett's rookie contract. After the Broncos released him, he was cut off and has received death threats since. A recent cryptic postcard is now being investigated by law enforcement.

Police used a taser gun to arrest Maurice Clarett Wednesday after he struct a police cruiser and was found with "an arsenal of weapons."

Looks like he took the news about Mike Bell pretty hard. The former Ohio StateBuckeye was seen making an illegal U-turn, then ran over stop sticks, but continued despite a flat tire and rammed a police car before being subdued. Clarett, coincidentally, had two court dates in the next week for other incidents.
