Bears agreed to terms with FS Antrel Rolle on a three-year, $11.25 million contract, including $5 million guaranteed.
Rolle has a big name, but his play has slipped steadily in recent seasons. He had a miserable year in run defense in 2014 and was barely average in coverage. Rolle does bring leadership ability to a Chicago locker room that desperately needs it, and plays a needy position on the Bears, who still must find a bookend for Rolle at safety. Rolle also offers sporadic playmaking ability, having picked off nine passes, broken up 21, and forced two fumbles over the past two seasons. Mar 11 - 10:47 PM

Free agent FS Antrel Rolle will visit the Bears, according to Pro Football Talk.

No deal is in place yet. Rolle has been linked to Chicago for a while now and seems like a logical replacement for Chris Conte. Rolle expressed interest in returning to the Giants earlier this offseason but so far he's just heard crickets. The 32-year-old has registered nine interceptions over the last two seasons.

ESPN Chicago reports the Bears appear to be the frontrunners for free agent FS Antrel Rolle.

The Bears are probably in the market for two new starting safeties with Chris Conte a free agent and Ryan Mundy and Brock Vereen mere complementary pieces. Rolle is 32 but has been an iron man, never missing a game with the Giants.

Free agent FS Antrel Rolle hasn't "had discussions with any teams" including the Giants.

He went out of his way to clarify on Twitter, denying "allegations" of him negotiating numbers on a new contract. By keeping his options open, teams are going to start bidding for Rolle once free agency opens March 10 and his price will likely go up. It's Economics 101.

Free agent FS Antrel Rolle said he wants to re-sign with the Giants.

There appears to be mutual interest after chairman John Mara recently said he'd like to have Rolle back. Now 32, Rolle won't command big dollars like his previous contract, but he is one of the lone starting-caliber safeties available in free agency. He never missed a game with the G-Men.

Team chairman John Mara said the team wants free agent FS Antrel Rolle "at the right price."

It's going to be a tricky negotiation. Rolle has been very durable (never missed a game in his five-year Giants career) and usually effective, but is coming off a down year and turned 32 in December. He's our No. 3 free agent safety available, behind only Devin McCourty and Rahim Moore.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle claims he has four "great" seasons left in him.

The Giants may not agree. Rolle is entering the final year of his contract, but there's been no talk about an extension. It's not a surprise considering he'll turn 32 in December. Rolle did play at a high level in 2013, grading out 10th among 86 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' grades.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle said he's open to signing a contract extension with the team.

Rolle has one year left on his deal and is scheduled to count $9.25 million against the 2014 salary cap. The Giants have a ton of free agents and very little cap room. Extending Rolle could knock his cap number down and lock up a player that has performed well for the most part. There's also a chance the Giants could simply release Rolle. Stevie Brown would be cheaper to re-sign and should be healthy, and Will Hill emerged as a force on the back end.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle (ankle) expects to resume practicing soon, and remains on track for Week 1.

"Right now, we're ahead of schedule and things are going good," Rolle said Monday. Adept at playing through injury, we fully expect Rolle to suit up for the opener.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle (ankle) has already shed his walking boot.

Rolle's injury clearly isn't as serious as originally feared. Rolle will likely sit out the rest of the preseason as a precaution, but is firmly on track for Week 1.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle is in a walking boot after suffering a "pretty good" ankle sprain on Monday, but is confident he'll be ready for Week 1.

Rolle had to be carted off, but supposedly avoided a high-ankle sprain. "I am going to do whatever it takes to make sure that is not even a possibility," Rolle said of missing Week 1. Ryan Mundy is filling in. Rolle has missed just one game over the past seven seasons.

ESPN New York does not consider Giants FS Antrel Rolle a candidate for release.

More specifically, beat writer Ohm Youngmisuk believes Rolle isn't "going anywhere." It's a bit surprising, as the 30-year-old Rolle is due a whopping $7 million coming off a sub-par campaign. With the Giants up against the salary cap, it's quite possible Rolle will at least be asked to restructure.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle (head) has resumed practicing.

The Giants never clarified whether Rolle sustained a concussion last week, but the Bergen Record says he's been "cleared." SS Kenny Phillips (knee) also returned to practice and pronounced himself "full go" for Sunday's game.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle may have suffered a concussion in Sunday's win.

Coach Tom Coughlin said he's "not sure" if Rolle was concussed on his big fall out-of-bounds in the fourth quarter, but Rolle did fly home on the team plane. Rolle was never officially announced as injured in Sunday's game. He'll go through the league's mandated concussion protocol.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle characterized his Week 3 knee injury as a "lingering" issue.

Rolle suffered the injury when he slammed into a camera man on the sidelines in Carolina. "It's a battle," Rolle said. "It's a constant battle each and every day ... With this knee injury, it's going to take some time." Rolle expects to play in Week 6, but the Giants have depth concerns with Kenny Phillips (knee) out and CBs Corey Webster, Michael Coe and Jayron Hosley all battling hamstring injuries.
