ESPN New York does not consider Giants FS Antrel Rolle a candidate for release.
More specifically, beat writer Ohm Youngmisuk believes Rolle isn't "going anywhere." It's a bit surprising, as the 30-year-old Rolle is due a whopping $7 million coming off a sub-par campaign. With the Giants up against the salary cap, it's quite possible Rolle will at least be asked to restructure. Feb 5 - 8:43 PM

Giants FS Antrel Rolle (head) has resumed practicing.

The Giants never clarified whether Rolle sustained a concussion last week, but the Bergen Record says he's been "cleared." SS Kenny Phillips (knee) also returned to practice and pronounced himself "full go" for Sunday's game.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle may have suffered a concussion in Sunday's win.

Coach Tom Coughlin said he's "not sure" if Rolle was concussed on his big fall out-of-bounds in the fourth quarter, but Rolle did fly home on the team plane. Rolle was never officially announced as injured in Sunday's game. He'll go through the league's mandated concussion protocol.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle characterized his Week 3 knee injury as a "lingering" issue.

Rolle suffered the injury when he slammed into a camera man on the sidelines in Carolina. "It's a battle," Rolle said. "It's a constant battle each and every day ... With this knee injury, it's going to take some time." Rolle expects to play in Week 6, but the Giants have depth concerns with Kenny Phillips (knee) out and CBs Corey Webster, Michael Coe and Jayron Hosley all battling hamstring injuries.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle (questionable, knee) "will play" against the Eagles in Week 4.

Head coach Tom Coughlin confirmed the news to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio. This was the expected decision all along, though. Rolle suffered a lacerated knee in Week 3 against the Panthers on Thursday Night Football.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle (lacerated knee) "won't miss any time."

The word comes straight from coach Tom Coughlin. "(It's) just a bruise on top of my knee and a couple of lacerations, but it will be fine," Rolle said. Rolle has racked up 21 tackles through New York's first three games.

Post-game X-rays on S Antrel Rolle's lacerated knee were negative.

Rolle did not need stitches, either. He may need follow-up tests on Friday, though coach Tom Coughlin downplayed the injury, calling it a contusion and a laceration. It appears that Rolle is day-to-day heading into Week 4.

Giants S Antrel Rolle left Thursday's game against the Panthers with a knee injury.

Rolle suffered a knee laceration with just under seven minutes left in the game on what looked to be a harmless play. He was chasing Greg Olsen in the back left corner of the end zone and hit his knee out of bounds on a sideline camera. Stevie Brown replaced Rolle and immediately intercepted Cam Newton. Rolle was carted to the locker room for X-rays.

Giants S Antrel Rolle will cover slot receivers while Terrell Thomas (knee) is out.

Thomas was slated to start opposite Corey Webster on the outside and then kick inside against three-wide sets. That plan is scrapped now that the Giants will have to turn to Prince Amukamara as a starting corner. Rolle covered slot receivers for the majority of last season, but still racked up a career-high 96 tackles. The Giants also won the Super Bowl.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle says he'll be the team's nickel cornerback this season.

It's a slight boost to his IDP value. Rolle will play safety on early downs and kick inside to the slot on passing downs, playing closer to the line of scrimmage. Opposing offensive coordinators seem likely to target Rolle heavily inside. He's stiff in the hips and will struggle with quicker, smaller receivers.

Giants GM Jerry Reese defended FS Antrel Rolle and SS Kenny Phillips after the safeties allegedly criticized coach Tom Coughlin.

Reese spoke to Rolle and Phillips after the incident, and believes their comments were "misconstrued." Added Reese, "They're very remorseful about how it was spun. Both said they're not that kind of people and I believe them, I think they're both good people." The incident never would've happened had the Giants made the playoffs. They'll all try again next season.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle and SS Kenny Phillips would like to see coach Tom Coughlin be a little less uptight and a little more like Rex Ryan.

"Who is Tom Coughlin?" Phillips said, "Honestly I don't know. Still trying to figure it out." Said Rolle, who also complained about Coughlin early in the season, "When you're talking about the coaching side of things, do I feel like things are a little too uptight? Yeah, I do." It's no secret that a lot of players would love to play for Ryan, but Coughlin simply isn't the same kind of guy and isn't going to change. Rolle would be smart to worry more about his own play, which was highly disappointing as a first-year Giant.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle admits his "mind was just wandering" often during his first year in New York.

"I think he thinks he could have played better for us," remarked GM Jerry Reese. An undeserving Pro Bowl selection, Rolle finished with one interception and four pass breakups (a low since his rookie year) after signing a five-year, $37M deal last offseason. Pro Football Focus graded Rolle as the 80th best safety in football. Teammate Kenny Phillips was No. 8.

Giants FS Antrel Rolle criticized his coaching staff Tuesday for creating an overly "controlled" environment and giving the team too much downtime before the Week 2 game.

Rolle described a locker room full of players "just sitting around, being lackadaisical" before Sunday night's game at Indy. "I see little things here and there -- and it's not all with the players," said Rolle. There's no question that the Giants came out flat in nationally televised game, but it's hard to believe that task-master Tom Coughlin will look kindly on Rolle's comments.

Newly signed FS Antrel Rolle said he hopes to play some Wildcat for the Giants.

The highly athletic Rolle was a high school quarterback and running back that the Cardinals used sparingly on offense last season. Still, the Giants are one of the few teams that haven't used any form of the Wildcat and it's hard to see them starting now by putting their $37 million safety in harms way.
