Chargers re-signed RB Ronnie Brown.
No third-down touches for you, Ryan Mathews. With Danny Woodhead's signing and Brown back in the fold, Mathews will almost certainly be a two-down back. Both Woodhead and Brown are solid pass catchers, and Brown can pick up a blitz. Brown, 31, caught a career-high 49 passes for 371 yards out of the backfield in 2012. Mar 15 - 5:16 PM

Ronnie Brown rushed five times for 20 yards and added a three-yard reception in the Chargers' Week 17 win over the Raiders.

Even with Jackie Battle running in mud and Ryan Mathews sidelined, Brown was a non-factor. He finishes his first season in San Diego with 46 carries for 220 yards, 49 catches for 371 yards and no touchdowns. Brown is serviceable as a receiver out of the backfield but at age 31, he's just about out of gas. He won't find much more than a cheap one-year deal on the free agency market.

Ronnie Brown (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Brown was also nursing this hamstring strain last week and compiled just seven touches for 39 yards. Jackie Battle saw 20 touches. Expect a similar timeshare this week, especially with the Chargers likely to get a lead on Terrelle Pryor and the Raiders. The Chargers' inactives: LB Donald Butler, Edwin Baker, TE Ladarius Green, CB Greg Gatson, LB Gary Guyton, OT Stephen Schilling and WR Mike Willie.

Ronnie Brown (hamstring) returned to Chargers practice on a limited basis Friday, and is officially questionable for Week 17.

Get your popcorn ready for another Jackie Battle-Ronnie Brown backfield out of the Chargers in Week 17. San Diego's season will end Sunday against Oakland.

Ronnie Brown (hamstring) missed practice again on Thursday.

After not participating on Wednesday or Thursday this week, Brown's Week 17 status is certainly in question. If Brown doesn't suit up on Sunday, Curtis Brinkley and Edwin Baker would be in for bigger roles behind "starter" Jackie Battle. Check back for an update on Friday.

Ronnie Brown (hamstring) was held out of Wednesday's practice.

It's likely just a precaution after Brown returned for Sunday's loss. He'll operate as the Bolts' primary passing-down back behind Jackie Battle against the Raiders.

Ronnie Brown rushed for 31 yards on five carries and caught two passes for eight yards in Week 16 versus the Jets.

Brown handled the third down and passing situation work behind Jackie Battle on Sunday, and with the Chargers being ahead for much of the second half, Brown wasn't needed much. Look for the same sort of workload distribution in Week 17 versus the Raiders.

Ronnie Brown (hamstring) is active for Week 16 against the Jets.

Brown will be a part of committee backfield against the Jets' bottom-four run defense. He's Rotoworld's No. 43 running back for Week 16, checking in nine spots behind Jackie Battle. Neither are inspiring flex plays for the fantasy Super Bowl. Inactive for the Chargers are RB Edwin Baker, LB Jonas Mouton, LB Demorrio Williams, OL Steve Schilling, WR Mike Willie, TE Ladarius Green and DT Aubrayo Franklin.

Ronnie Brown (hamstring) returned to a full practice on Friday and is listed as probable for Week 16.

Fantasy owners can safely write off Jackie Battle and -- particularly -- Curtis Brinkley in finals week. With Brown reentering the fold, San Diego's running backs will all be challenged to reach 15 touches against the Jets.

Ronnie Brown (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Brown did not practice at all last week before being an inactive for Week 15 against the Panthers, so a limited session is a step in the right direction. With Ryan Mathews (broken collarbone) now on injured reserve, Brown and Jackie Battle figure to carry the load against the Jets this week.

Coach Norval Turner says there's a "chance" the Chargers get RB Ronnie Brown (hamstring) back for Week 16.

Brown's health has taken on increased importance after the Chargers lost Ryan Mathews (clavicle) for the season on Sunday. Already the Bolts' preferred passing-down back, Brown would have a shot at low-end flex value if he could get healthy for Sunday's game against the Jets. If Brown can't go, the Chargers would be forced to go with some combination of Jackie Battle, Curtis Brinkley and practice-squader Edwin Baker.

Chargers declared RB Ronnie Brown, WR Eddie Royal, LB Donald Butler, RT Jeromey Clary, LG Tyronne Green, TE Ladarius Green, and LB Demorrio Williams inactive for Week 15 against Carolina.

Brown is sitting out with a hamstring injury, which figures to vault Ryan Mathews into the every-down back role. Brown has been playing 50 percent of San Diego's running back snaps this year, and sometimes more. The Chargers will be without two starting offensive linemen against Carolina's underrated front four.

Ronnie Brown (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 15.

Although Brown has hardly been a standalone fantasy option all year, it's conceivable that his absence would thrust Ryan Mathews into an every-down back role against Carolina. So there is some fantasy impact here. Mathews' performance to this point in the season has still been so underwhelming that he's no better than a Week 15 flex option. Brown's return timetable is unknown.

Ronnie Brown (hamstring) remained out of Chargers practice Thursday.

Norval Turner's preferred passing-down back is now looking very shaky for Week 15, which is great news for Ryan Mathews in a plus matchup versus the Panthers.

Ronnie Brown missed Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury.

San Diego's primary passing-down back reached for the back of his thigh at the end of one run last week. He missed time, but ultimately returned to the game. Brown's Week 15 availability is unclear, though the Chargers did re-sign RB Curtis Brinkley on Wednesday. That could be a sign Brown won't be ready to go against the Panthers.
