Bengals placed K Mike Nugent (calf) on injured reserve, ending his season, and promoted CB Chris Lewis-Harris from the practice squad.

The Bengals will move forward with Josh Brown at kicker. Lewis-Harris is an undrafted rookie. Nugent, 30, donned Cincinnati's franchise tag in 2012, collecting a guaranteed $2.654 million. He'll be a free agent this offseason.

Bengals declared Mike Nugent (calf) inactive for Week 16 against the Steelers.

Josh Brown will continue to start with Nugent missing the last three games. The rest of the Bengals inactives are CB Dre Kirkpatrick, RB Dan Herron, FS George Iloka, and DT Devon Still. Kirkpatrick has yet to receive medical clearance from a Week 13 concussion and remains out indefinitely. Cedric Peerman is active, as expected.

The Bengals expected their kicking decision to come down to a game-time call this week. It now looks like Josh Brown has the inside track to get the nod versus the Steelers.

Bengals K Mike Nugent (calf) is considered questionable for Week 16.

Nugent has missed the last two games, but was limited in Wednesday's practice. During that time, replacement Josh Brown has gone 6-for-6 on field goals, including one from 52 yards out. Nugent shouldn't be considered a lock to get his job back even once 100 percent.

Bengals K Mike Nugent (calf) is expected to sit out Week 14 versus the Cowboys following the signing of Josh Brown.

With a Thursday night game on the docket for Week 15 at Philadelphia, Nugent could end up missing two games. The injury is believed to be only a tweak, so Nugent is not yet in danger of landing on injured reserve.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals will work out free agents Nate Kaeding and Josh Brown on Thursday, so it's possible Nugent is going to miss time. Cincinnati's "franchise player" over the offseason, Nugent is 19-of-23 on field-goal attempts this season.

Bengals signed franchise player Mike Nugent to a one-year, $2.654 million contract.

Nugent, 30, will be fully guaranteed the salary for the 2012 season, and the Bengals are likely interested in a long-term deal. An early-career bust as a former second-round pick by Herm Edwards' Jets, Nugent has gotten his career on track recently. He converted 33 of his 38 field goal attempts last season. Nugent can't be expected to match that production from a fantasy perspective in 2012, but he's certainly got a very strong leg.

Bengals assigned the franchise tag to K Mike Nugent.

The kicker franchise tag is estimated at $2.6 million to $2.7 million. Nugent, 30, nailed 33 of his 38 field goal attempts in 2011, good for a percentage of 86.8. He also had a stunning 36 touchbacks. Strong-legged and finally polished in terms of accuracy, Nugent has recovered perfectly from a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus suffered in his kicking leg in November of 2010.

Re-signing free agent K Mike Nugent is expected to be a priority for the Bengals.

Nugent was one of the league's most accurate field-goal kickers during his first full season in Cincinnati, when he set a team record for points (132). He also produced a touchback on 36-of-80 kickoffs. He'll be back with the Bengals in 2012.

Bengals K Mike Nugent did not miss a field goal during the first week of camp.

Nugent banged home a 54-yarder Saturday, confirming his surgically repaired knee is at full strength. Still, he's proven to be inconsistent throughout his career and the Bengals offense will be terrible. Look elsewhere in fantasy leagues.

Coach Marvin Lewis is satisfied with the way Mike Nugent (torn ACL, MCL) is kicking early in camp.

The release of Clint Stitser was a vote of confidence for Nugent, who is "pretty much" all the back to pre-injury form. We're still avoiding Nugent in fantasy drafts, as he was among the most inconsistent kickers in the league even before the injury.

Bengals K Mike Nugent (torn ACL, MCL) received medical clearance from Ohio State doctors to participate in training camp.

The former Buckeye is awaiting clearance from Bengals doctors, with whom he'll be able to visit today. Nugent is now over eight months removed from blowing out his knee. He tore his ACL, MCL, and meniscus in mid-November last season.

Bengals K Mike Nugent (torn ACL, MCL) was able to practice field goals in Cincinnati when the lockout was temporarily lifted over a week ago.

Just five months removed from surgery to repair his ACL, MCL, and meniscus, Nugent made all of his "handful" of field-goal attempts. Nugent was among the least accurate kickers in the NFL before suffering the injury.
