Roddy White secured four passes for 27 yards in Atlanta's preseason opener against Miami on Thursday night.
He only played one full possession. Keep in mind Julio Jones (foot) was rested, but it's a reminder that White is going to be peppered with targets this season as the Falcons attempt to compensate for a leaky defense. Despite his age -- 32 in November -- White is a value pick at his mid-fourth-round ADP. Aug 8 - 7:48 PM

Falcons signed WR Roddy White to new four-year contract worth up to $30 million.

It's a three-year extension with $10 million guaranteed. White was entering the final year of a six-year, $48 million deal he signed in August of 2009. Now he's tied to the Falcons through 2017 and will get $18 million over the next two years. It's a long deal for a 32-year-old receiver, but White showed he has plenty left in the tank by averaging 8.6 catches for 100.4 yards with two touchdowns over the final five weeks of last season. The career-long Falcon will remain a focal point of the offense along with Julio Jones, forming one of the game's best receiving duos. White's current fantasy ADP is the fourth-/fifth-round turn, where he is a value pick with lower-end WR1 potential, particularly in PPR leagues.
Jul 24 - 8:10 AM

ESPN Falcons reporter Vaughn McClure expects the team to try and hammer out a contract extension with Roddy White before training camp next week.

The Falcons open camp next Friday. White is entering the final year of his deal. At 32 years old, he's not going to command elite wideout money. But another 2-3 years with $8-10 million guaranteed seems realistic. White is still on top of his game, as he reeled in 38 passes for 449 yards and two touchdowns over the final four games last season. He has WR1/2 upside in a pass-heavy offense.
Jul 15 - 11:12 AM

Roddy White says he and Julio Jones are "going to be there to play in the party" as the top receiver duo in the league this season.

"I feel like me and Roddy, we're the best when we step on the field," Jones said. "We take it as a challenge every year: We want to go out and show everybody we're the best one-two in the league." Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery claimed the title last season, combining for 2,716 yards and 19 touchdowns on 189 grabs. The year before, White and Jones combined for a 171-2,549-17 line. Both Falcons receivers are prime bounce-back candidates, and Julio should even be in the mix for No. 1 overall receiver when all is said and done.
Jun 26 - 9:02 AM

Roddy White is sitting out mandatory minicamp for rest purposes.

The Falcons are taking things easy with their 32-year-old No. 2 wideout after he suffered through the first injury-plagued year of his career in 2013. A prime bounce-back candidate after a strong finish last season, White will be ready to rock for training camp.
Jun 17 - 5:36 PM reports the Falcons are expected to hammer out a contract extension with Roddy White before training camp.

Talks were expected to heat up after the draft, but were delayed following the murder of White's half-brother. Although White suffered through injury for the first time in his career last season, he finished strong. A deal should get done in relatively short order.
May 27 - 6:57 PM

Extension negotiations between the Falcons and Roddy White are expected to pick up.

White, who is 32 and entering the final year of his contract, is set to count $6.35 million against the cap. An extension would both lower that number and keep the career-Falcon happy. ESPN's Vaughn McClure suggests a deal similar to the one Reggie Wayne signed in March of 2012 at age 33: Three years, $17.5 million with $7.5 million guaranteed.
May 14 - 9:02 AM

The Falcons are meeting with the agents for Roddy White on Saturday to discuss a possible contract extension.

White is owed $6.34 million in the final year of his contract, so the Falcons are looking to sign him to an extension that would allow him to end his career in Atlanta and also lower his cap hit. Coming off an injury-marred 2013 and entering his age-33 season, he could be willing to accept a team-friendly deal. White had 63 catches, 711 yards, and three touchdowns in 13 games this past season, on the strength of a red-hot finish.
Feb 22 - 2:36 PM

Roddy White was arrested early Tuesday morning on a failure to appear warrant.

White was booked in the Gwinnett County Jail just before 4:30 AM on Tuesday and was released 90 minutes later on $168 bond. The 32-year-old allegedly failed to appear in court on a warrant stemming from a citation for tinted windows. White shouldn't face any league discipline, and this is the last we'll hear of it.
Feb 18 - 8:51 AM

Roddy White said he's working with the Falcons on a contract extension.

White is entering the final season of the six-year, $48 million deal he signed in 2009. Extension negotiations are going to be tricky because he's 32 years old and coming off a year that was marred by nagging hamstring and ankle injuries. But his camp can point to the final five games in which he averaged 8.6 catches for 100.4 yards with two touchdowns. "I do want to stay here the rest of my career. ... We're working to try to get something done. They want me to be here, I want to be here, so let's make it happen."
Feb 3 - 11:37 AM

Roddy White said he wants to play 3-4 more seasons.

The 32-year-old White is headed into the final year of a six-year, $48 million pact he signed back in 2009. Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff has hinted that the two sides could hammer out an extension that would allow White to end his career in Atlanta and also lower his cap hit for 2014. White gained leverage in those talks with his play down the stretch as he averaged 8.6 catches for 100.4 yards with two touchdowns in the final five games.
Jan 1 - 9:52 AM

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said at his season-ending presser Monday that the club is interested in signing Roddy White to a contract extension.

Dimitroff said he's "looking forward" to hammering out a deal. White is under contract for $5 million in 2014, but the Falcons could lower his cap number by extending him. White turned 32 in November. Over the final five weeks of the 2013 season, White averaged 8.6 catches for 100.4 yards per game.

Roddy White caught eight passes for 91 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Panthers.

It was too late for most owners, but in December we finally got to see what a healthy Roddy White can do. Battling a high ankle sprain and hamstring pull throughout the first two months, Roddy failed to top four catches for 45 yards in his first eight games. But over the final five games, he averaged 8.6 catches for 100.4 yards with two touchdowns. The performance proves that the 32-year-old White still has plenty of juice left in the legs. He'll be a WR2 candidate in 2014 fantasy drafts.

Roddy White caught 12 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown in Atlanta's 34-24, Week 16 loss to the 49ers on Monday night.

It was easily White's best game in what proved to be a lost season for him. He shredded a San Francisco pass defense that entered the night surrendering the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. It's been quite the ride for White's fantasy owners. Most of you likely either missed the playoffs or got there without White and didn't use him in a tough matchup. However, those of you that chose to play White in your fantasy title game are probably smiling. White's night started slow, but he turned it on in the second half. He ran right by Tramaine Brock and Eric Reid for his 39-yard touchdown. White also had a number of big catches on third and fourth downs. There's no denying he has some of the strongest mitts in the league. White gets the Panthers in Week 17.
Mon, Dec 23, 2013 11:47:00 PM

Roddy White caught five passes for 53 yards in Week 15 against the Redskins.

White battled a knee issue in practice this past week, but it didn't appear to be a problem for him. White was targeted seven times on the day and was featured early on before going mostly silent in the second half. It would have been nice to see him have a bigger day against Washington's leaky pass defense. White will get a tough draw next week against the 49ers on the road.
