Free agent WR Roddy White said he will either sign with a contender or retire.
"At this point of my career, I don’t want to be dragging my feet in Week 13 just to have an opportunity to be 4-10 next week," White said before adding he has had offers from several teams. At this point, White seems content sitting out the more tedious portions of the offseason and waiting for the right situation. He was not great last season, but White has a good enough pedigree and enough left in the tank to get a shot from a wideout-needy club come training camp. Jun 9 - 1:12 PM

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport expects the Bucs to have interest in free agent Roddy White.

White has ties to Dirk Koetter, who coordinated him for three seasons in Atlanta. He could add depth behind Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson, but the Bucs might not want to block second-year WR Kenny Bell. WKBW's Joe Buscaglia considers the Bills a possible landing spot for Roddy White.
Mar 2 - 5:38 PM

Falcons released WR Roddy White.

White spent his first 11 years in Atlanta and is their all-time leading receiver. The Falcons wanted to keep him for his veteran presence, but couldn't justify his $6.1 million cap hit. 34-year-old White has been in decline the last two seasons and struggled with injuries despite starting all 16 games last year. He plans to continue his career, but shouldn't draw interest as more than a No. 3 wideout. The Falcons will save $4.25M if they designate White a post-June 1 cut.
Mar 2 - 4:47 PM

Coach Dan Quinn said a decision on Roddy White's future has yet to be made.

"He’s someone we certainly have respect for as we build this team," Quinn said. "We aren’t into that decision yet. We're still in the process." White expects to remain in Atlanta, but his return is far from guaranteed. The Falcons would save $4.25M from making White a post-June cut.
Feb 24 - 5:42 PM

Roddy White says he would "bet every dollar I had that I’m going to be a Falcon," but admits he "(hasn't) been given clarity about anything."

It's unclear how White reconciles those two thoughts, but to each his own. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently reported the Falcons "appear to be leaning toward retaining" White. White admits his smaller role frustrated him in 2015, but claims he has no personal animosity toward OC Kyle Shanahan. In steady decline and far less durable than he was during his heyday, White has averaged a modest 713 yards over his past three seasons. Due $4.25 million between salary and bonuses, White is a candidate for a restructure if he isn't released outright.
Feb 23 - 2:30 PM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter said the Falcons "appear to be leaning toward retaining" Roddy White.

With White set to count just over $6.1 million against the salary cap, there has been speculation the Falcons will move on from their declining No. 2 receiver. GM Thomas Dimitroff recently said, "It's not always about the talent," however, and coach Dan Quinn has talked about White's value as a "competitor and leader." It would still be surprising if White is back on his current deal, but it looks like the Falcons are at least open to the idea.
Feb 8 - 12:56 PM

Falcons owner Arthur Blank said he will have no input on the decision to cut or retain Roddy White.

"I have nothing but respect for Roddy and I love Roddy," Blank said. "When it comes to where Roddy is in the future, that's where the owner doesn't get involved. That's a decision that will be made by the coach, the coaching staff and personnel." Blank added the organization is still in the process of evaluating the roster. Coach Dan Quinn hinted White would stick around, but GM Thomas Dimitroff said White may have to redo his contract to stay with the team. White has already said he will not accept a pay cut. The two sides look headed for a divorce.

Feb 6 - 10:41 AM

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff gave Roddy White a tepid endorsement at Thursday's presser.

"White is under contract," Dimitroff accurately pointed out. "We've made no final decisions on anyone as far as moving on from people or redoing contracts." In other words, White will have to take a major pay-cut to save his roster spot, and even that might not be enough. White has already said he won't slash his $4.25 million salary despite the fact that he's coming off three down seasons in a row. A divorce is quite possible, if not probable.
Jan 28 - 3:50 PM

Falcons coach Dan Quinn praised Roddy White as a "competitor and leader."

Quinn went on to say White's veteran presence could help new WRs coach Raheem Morris transition from defense to offense. "Can you learn from players? I think you definitely can," Quinn said. "I think the learning, it never stops, man. And I think that's why Roddy's so fired up to roll, too. And he's so jacked to make his mark on the position as well." There has been speculation White and his $6.1 million cap hit will not be back with the Falcons, but these comments make it seem like he is in the team's plans even if Quinn was quick to add the evaluation process is ongoing. White has said he will not accept a pay cut to stay in Atlanta.

Jan 26 - 10:03 AM

Roddy White said he will not take a pay cut to remain with the Falcons.

White said last week he wants to be a Falcon "forever," but he is not interested in taking less money to make that happen. Owed $2.75 million with another $1.5 million in potential roster bonuses, White is not overpaid as No. 2 receivers go, but he has also not performed like a quality No. 2 receiver the last three seasons. White caught 43 passes for 506 yards and a touchdown despite playing every game in 2015, and he has not had a 1,000-yard season since 2012. Atlanta will have to look long and hard at White's value to the organization this offseason. White has been with the Falcons since 2005.

Jan 5 - 12:03 PM

Roddy White caught 1-of-4 targets for 10 yards in the Falcons' Week 17 loss to the Saints.

White finishes his dismal age-34 campaign with 506 yards, his fewest since his sophomore year of 2006. The former perennial WR1 has now been held below 1,000 yards in three straight seasons, and seems to be running on fumes. He was often a distraction in 2015, complaining about his role and trying to get targets forced his way. Due $4.25 million between salary and bonuses in 2016, it's within the realm of possibility that White gets cut loose by the only team he's ever known.
Jan 3 - 5:53 PM

Roddy White returned to Falcons practice Thursday, getting in a limited session.

The WR5 will be fine for Sunday's finale against the Saints.

Roddy White said he plans to be "a Falcon forever."

"That's what they told me. That's where my heart is. That's where my mind's at," White said. Roddy is owed $4.25 million in salary and bonuses next season and is set to count $6.1 million against the cap. Both numbers are reasonable for a No. 2 receiver, but White has not even played at that level this season. He has just 42 catches for 496 and one touchdown and is on pace for his worst statistical season since 2006. Atlanta will have a tough decision to make this offseason.

Roddy White (ankle) missed Wednesday’s practice.

White is coming off one of his more productive games, but won’t be a fantasy option even if he plays against the Saints.
Wed, Dec 30, 2015 07:00:00 PM

Roddy White nabbed five of six targets for 67 yards in the Falcons' Week 16 win over the Panthers.

With Julio Jones drawing coverage from Josh Norman, White was able to break free for 48 yards in the second half. White has only reached the 60-yard plateau three times this year. He has a nice matchup against the Saints next week but Julio is still the only Falcons receiver worth owning in fantasy.
