Roddy White had his knee drained prior to June minicamp and expects the knee to be drained again during the 2015 season.
Knee drainings are generally routine, non-surgical procedures, but may be concerning for White coming off back-to-back injury-plagued seasons. White actually hinted doctors told him to have surgery, but he is going to play through the knee "irritation" instead. "It's not a concern to me because it's just like a little irritation," said White. "My cartilage in my knee is not smooth. It's kind of rippled. You can elect to have surgery, but I just decided not to because I'm not a surgery guy. I just don't want to do it." White turns 34 this November. Jul 29 - 5:29 PM

Roddy White said the Falcons aren't "going to be passing 35-40 times a game."

The Falcons averaged 39.5 pass attempts per game last year, third-most in the league. Unless third-round pick Tevin Coleman emerges, Atlanta's running game should be just as stagnant as it was in 2014. Though White might disagree, we expect Atlanta to rely heavily on the pass again this season. Perhaps White was hinting at his own reduced role in the offense. White mentioned previously he's "not worried" about how many targets he gets.

ESPN Falcons reporter Vaughn McClure says Roddy White "wasn't himself a year ago due to a variety of injuries and age catching up to him."

We'd agree. Fighting nagging knee and ankle injuries, White finished with a respectable 80-921-7 line but couldn't threaten defenses over the top and offered nothing after the catch. Now 33 years old, he's going to fall further down the cliff and also gets a downgrade in scheme. Kyle Shanahan offenses pepper the "X" receiver (Julio Jones) with monstrous volume and treat the No. 2 wideout as a complementary piece.

Roddy White caught 8-of-12 targets for 104 yards in the Falcons' Week 17 loss to the Panthers.

He also ended up losing a critical fumble, however, leading to a four-yard Cam Newton rushing touchdown on the following play. After posting six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, White has now failed to top the mark in back-to-back years as he's battled numerous nagging injuries at 33 years old. His 2014 ends with 80 grabs for 921 yards and seven touchdowns. White is still a fine No. 2 receiver and WR3, but he's clearly on the downslope of his career. The Falcons just signed White a new four-year deal back in July, so he'll return for another season opposite Julio Jones.

He'll be in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Panthers.

Roddy White (ankle) returned to Falcons practice Thursday.

White will be good to go opposite Julio Jones in Sunday's NFC South title game against the Panthers.

Roddy White caught 6-of-9 targets for 55 yards Week 16 against the Saints.

White dropped a longish catch that would have made his stat line look a little prettier, but the reality is White does not have a ton of juice left in his legs. He will have a decent matchup against the Panthers Week 17.

Roddy White (knee) is officially active for Week 16 against the Saints.

White's status was never in doubt after getting in a full session on Friday. He is a more of a WR3 with Julio Jones returning to the lineup.

Roddy White (knee) returned to practice Thursday.

He was officially limited. White was just taking a maintenance day Wednesday. The knee doesn't appear to be a real issue, but the 33-year-old's upside is capped by a lack of juice in his legs.

Roddy White (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

It's a new injury for White, who played 57-of-60 snaps in Week 15. White will be a top-25 receiver play if Julio Jones (hip) doesn't return this week.

Roddy White caught seven passes for 58 yards and one touchdown in the Falcons' Week 15 loss to the Steelers.

He was targeted 10 times, but still finished second on the team behind Harry Douglas (14) in the category with Julio Jones (hip) inactive. White worked mostly against CB Antwon Blake, who was filling in for Ike Taylor on Sunday. White's score came from four yards away in the fourth quarter. He'll be a WR2/3 next week against the Saints, whom he posted 6-72-1 against in the season opener.

Roddy White (ankle) remained limited on Thursday.

The Falcons are limiting White's reps after he escaped Monday's loss without setbacks. White has admitted he's not 100 percent, but played 63-of-67 snaps against the Packers. He'll be a target hog against the Steelers if Julio Jones (hip) can't suit up.

Roddy White (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

It confirms White didn't have any setbacks in Monday night's loss. With Julio Jones up in the air for Week 15, he could see an increase in targets. White is on the WR2 radar against the Steelers.

Roddy White conceded he's not 100 percent healthy.

White has been battling an ankle issue the past few weeks, but played 63-of-67 snaps Monday night against the Packers. He'll be in the lineup for Week 15 against the Steelers, and the Falcons may have to lean on him even more if Julio Jones (hip) is unable to play. White will run most of his routes at the left cornerback, which will either be Ike Taylor or Antwon Blake on Sunday. The matchup doesn't get much tastier. White will be on the WR2 radar at the Georgia Dome.

Roddy White caught three passes for 42 yards and one touchdown in the Falcons' Week 14 loss to the Packers.

Making his return from an ankle injury, White was targeted five times, while Julio Jones was just destroying the Packers' secondary for an 11-259-1 line on 17 targets. White didn't catch his touchdown until after Jones was forced from the game midway through the fourth quarter with a hip injury. White didn't appear 100 percent himself, but he should be fine for Week 15 against the Steelers. He projects to run most of his routes against LCB Ike Taylor, providing Taylor is healthy after hurting his knee Sunday. Taylor has been beaten like a drum the past two weeks.
