Raiders re-signed RT Khalif Barnes.

Barnes missed Weeks 3-9 last year due to groin surgery. But he's started at right tackle in his last 25 games for the Raiders, grading out 64th among 80 qualifiers in 2012 according to ProFootballFocus. Barnes was a particularly poor run-blocker in the squashed zone-blocking scheme.

Impending free agent RT Khalif Barnes underwent an offseason procedure on his arm.

GM Reggie McKenzie neglected to provide details. Turning 31 in March, Barnes was limited to nine games in 2012 due to early-season groin surgery. His best chance of starting next season is to re-sign with the Raiders.

Raiders RT Khalif Barnes (groin surgery) returned to the lineup in Week 11.

Barnes had been out since Week 2. He didn't give up any sack against the Saints. "There was a little rust, but I shook it off during practice," Barnes said. "For the most part, I was pleased. I didn't have any pain."

Raiders RT Khalif Barnes (groin) returned to a limited practice on Wednesday.

It's the first time Barnes has been on the field since early September. He's been out since Week 2 and then subsequently underwent a "procedure" on the groin. Willie Smith has been filling in on the right side, but he has been thoroughly abused in pass protection.

Raiders RT Khalif Barnes (groin) did not participate in practice on Wednesday.

Barnes underwent a "procedure" on his injured groin a little over three weeks ago and has been out since Week 2. Second-year undrafted free agent Willie Harris has been filling in. There was some speculation that Barnes could return this week, but it doesn't look promising at this point.

Raiders RT Khalif Barnes underwent a "procedure" on his injured groin two weeks ago.

Barnes has missed the Raiders' past two games, but could be ready to return when Oakland comes off its bye in Week 6. Fill-in Willie Smith has struggled in pass protection in Barnes' absence.

Raiders declared RT Khalif Barnes, CB Shawntae Spencer, OLs Joe Barksdale and Lucas Nix, WR Juron Criner, and DL Christo Bilukidi inactive for Week 3 against the Steelers.

Barnes (groin) will be replaced on the right side by Willie Smith. Spencer is out with a foot injury. Criner (ankle) was listed as probable on the injury report but is out. With the Raiders secondary banged up, FS Michael Huff is expected to play mostly cornerback. Terrelle Pryor is the No. 3 quarterback.

Raiders LT Khalif Barnes (groin) is out indefinitely.

Barnes left the Week 2 loss to the Dolphins early and was quickly ruled out for the day. Willie Smith, a former undrafted free agent that the Raiders just picked up off the street on Sept. 1, is expected to start on Carson Palmer's blind side in Week 3.

Barnes limped off the field and has been ruled out for the rest of the game. Wiilie Smith is replacing him at right tackle

The Contra Costa Times expects Khalif Barnes to be the Raiders' starting right tackle.

Barnes wasn't a shoo-in to keep his job when he re-signed in March, but the Raiders didn't draft any tackles. Barnes struggled mightily last season and is an odd fit for Oakland's new zone-blocking scheme. Joseph Barksdale might get a look, but he's another blocker with heavy feet and poor system fit. Right tackle could be a major trouble spot for the Raiders this year.

Raiders re-signed OT Khalif Barnes.

Jacksonville's former longtime left tackle started all 16 games on the right side in Oakland last year. The 30-year-old graded out poorly as both a run and pass blocker by Pro Football Focus, however. Barnes will face competition for the job in training camp, but Oakland's new zone-blocking scheme may help him.

Khalif Barnes has won the Raiders' starting right tackle job.

This looks like the weak link on Oakland's offensive line. Barnes hasn't started since 2008, when he fell apart in the second half of the season. Rookie Joseph Barksdale is a good bet to take over before the end of the season.

Raiders OT Khalif Barnes could get a chance to start at right tackle this season.

That would be a big promotion for Barnes, who was basically reduced to being an extra lineman in jumbo packages last season. Barnes will compete for the job with third-round pick Joseph Barksdale if the Raiders do not sign a veteran free agent, which they are expected to do.

Raiders re-signed OT Khalif Barnes to a one-year contract.

Barnes was a rotational lineman for Oakland last season, mostly playing tight end in jumbo packages. He'll return in a similar role this year. ESPN's John Clayton reports that the Raiders have elected against signing Jared Gaither.
