Saints signed CB Fabian Washington to a one-year contract.

Washington is a depth signing for a Saints team that will boast one of the league's top secondaries this season. He has missed a total of 12 games with injury the past three seasons, but if healthy could be an asset behind Jabari Greer, Tracy Porter, and Patrick Robinson. Washington was the 23rd overall pick in the 2005 draft. He has blazing speed and should make the final 53.

Washington has starting experience but projects as more of a nickel corner at this point in his career. The oft-injured former first-round pick would be an inexpensive fallback option in the corner market.

He won't return to Baltimore. "I see some teams I think I can help like Arizona, Jacksonville and Houston," said Washington. "I don't have to be a starter. If a team wants to let me compete for a starting job, that's fine."

Impending free agent CB Fabian Washington does not expect to be back with the Ravens in 2011.

"What am I going to do here? I don't know what I'm going to do," Washington said. He played sparingly down the stretch after losing his starting job to Josh Wilson at mid-season. Washington has been an injury-prone disappointment since the Ravens traded for him in 2008.

Ravens CB Fabian Washington pulled his left hamstring in Thursday's practice and will be a game-time decision for Week 14.

The official injury report has yet to be released, but expect Washington to be listed as questionable. Josh Wilson should get the nod regardless of Washington's status.

Ravens CB Fabian Washington (thigh) was limited in practice on Thursday and did not practice Friday or Saturday.

Washington was a healthy scratch in Week 12 in favor of Josh Wilson, and is unlikely to play in Week 14. We will know his injury status when the official report comes out Saturday afternoon.

Ravens CB Fabian Washington was benched in Week 9 for the second time in as many games.

Washington didn't give up any TDs as he did to Lee Evans in Week 7, but blew a tackle on a 31-yard catch by Brian Hartline against the Dolphins. Josh Wilson replaced him at halftime. "Fabian was playing OK," said coach John Harbaugh. "And Fabian's going to be fine. Fabian's a big part of what we're doing here." Washington anticipates starting in Week 10 against Atlanta.

Washington was benched in favor of Josh Wilson, but fully expects to play Sunday in Week 9. The Dolphins are in town, and look for Chad Henne to target whoever lines up across from Washington.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh won't commit to LCB Fabian Washington as a starter after Washington was benched in Week 7.

Josh Wilson replaced Washington in the lineup. "Fabian is going to play a lot of football," Harbaugh said. "We don't get quite as caught up in starter or non-starter label as some people do. We always play the best guys the most."

Ravens LCB Fabian Washington (ACL surgery) came out of his preseason debut on Saturday feeling "great."

It was Washington's first game action since tearing his ACL last November. "He looked crisp, he looked good," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "He didn't have any ill-effects that I know of. He kind of looked like the old Fabian." This is huge for the Ravens' secondary, which has been ravaged by injuries.

Washington will start the second exhibition game, playing "at least" a quarter. He'll open the season as Baltimore's top corner, though the secondary remains a big concern. The Ravens need their pass rush to step up.

Ravens CB Fabian Washington has shed his red pullover and hopes to be ready for the preseason opener.

Washington is coming back from a torn ACL, which he suffered last November. He thinks he can be ready for the preseason opener, but he also doesn't think he'd need the entire preseason to be ready for the regular season opener. Coach John Harbaugh has previously conceded that he doesn't expect Washington to be 100 percent early on during the season.

Washington will be eased back into training camp practices, but this is a sign that he's progressing well. He has a chance to be ready for the start of the regular season.
