Cowboys released S Brodney Pool.
An old Rob Ryan favorite, Pool was signed to a one-year, $1.2 million deal in March. It was really just a "flier" deal though, as it included a mere $100,000 in guarantees. Pool failed his initial conditioning test at camp and was badly beaten out by Barry Church for the starting strong safety job. Mon, Aug 6, 2012 11:42:00 AM

ESPN Dallas suggests that S Brodney Pool is not a lock to make the Cowboys.

Pool is guaranteed just $100,000 on his one-year, $1.2 million deal. If he doesn't beat out Barry Church and rookie Matt Johnson at training camp, it's hard to see a fourth safety making that much money. Pool did play for defensive coordinator Rob Ryan in Cleveland, which should help his chances of winning the gig.

Newly signed Brodney Pool is expected to replace free agent Abram Elam as the Cowboys' starting strong safety.

The Cowboys were originally expected to bring back Elam, a Rob Ryan favorite, but he may have priced himself out of the team's plans. Pool has also played under Ryan and is familiar the scheme.

Cowboys signed FS Brodney Pool to a one-year contract.

The Cowboys tried to sign Pool last summer before he opted to return to the Jets. Pool wasn't wanted back in New York this time around, however, after he made just six starts in 2011. More adept in coverage than against the run, Pool will presumably join Gerald Sensabaugh in the starting lineup in Dallas. Pool played under Cowboys DC Rob Ryan with the Browns in 2009.

Free agent FS Brodney Pool is visiting with the Cowboys Wednesday.

This is first sniff of interest Pool has generated. He has been a backup with the Jets for much of the last two seasons, but the Cowboys are desperate for free safety help next to strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh. Right now, Barry Church is their best option but he's recovering from serious shoulder surgery.

Jets FS Brodney Pool has passed all his concussion tests and will be fine to play moving forward.

After getting Madden Truck-Sticked on Ahmad Bradshaw's Week 16 touchdown, Pool's pride may be more hurt than his head. Pool has been the Jets' starting free safety since Jim Leonhard ruptured his patellar tendon four games ago.

Jets S Brodney Pool (knee) has been ruled out for Week 11 at Denver.

The Jets don't need their backup safety against a Broncos team that doesn't pass the ball. Pool will aim for Week 12 against the Bills instead.

Jets backup S Brodney Pool (knee) would have been held out of Monday's practice had it been full contact.

"I ran a little last week but I have to see how it reacts (this week)," Pool said. He has not yet tested his knee and all signs point to Pool missing Thursday's game against Denver. The Jets will not need near as much DB depth against Tim Tebow as they did against Tom Brady last week, obviously.

Jets S Brodney Pool (knee) has reportedly been ruled out for Week 10 against the Patriots.

Hardly a shocker. Pool revealed that the injury is a second-degree sprained MCL, which is a multi-week injury. Though he wasn't a starter this season, Pool's absence will leave the Jets with fewer seven-defensive back sets than they used in the first matchup with the Pats.

Jets S Brodney Pool is in danger of missing this week's game against the Patriots with a second-degree sprained MCL.

Pool has yet to practice this week, and coach Rex Ryan isn't confident that he'll be able to play Sunday night. Pool has been the third safety behind Jim Leonhard and Eric Smith this season.

Jets re-signed S Brodney Pool.

The Jets were ready to let Pool walk this summer, but changed their tune after he generated very little interest on the open market. HC Rex Ryan proclaimed Eric Smith the Jets' new starting strong safety on Monday, but Pool should be able to reclaim his job fairly easily.

The Jets will not bring back free agent Brodney Pool, a source tells beat writer Manish Mehta.

Safety isn't a priority, especially after Eric Smith signed a three-year deal late Friday night. Smith is likely to take Pool's place in the starting lineup. Pool has generated surprisingly little buzz for a 27-year-old cover safety.

Free agent S Brodney Pool didn't allow a single touchdown pass in the second half of the 2010 season.

He also had nine pass breakups, although the Jets were hoping for more than one interception. Pool, 27 in May, is still only expected back in New York if he's willing to settle for a relatively cheap contract. The Jets "don't want to spend big for a safety," according to beat reporter Rich Cimini.

Jets FS Brodney Pool was benched in favor of Eric Smith Thursday night.

The New York Post called the switch "mildly surprising." DC Mike Pettine made it clear earlier in the week that he wanted to cut down on big plays after Texans TE Joel Dreessen exploded for 106 yards in Week 11. Smith was used to contain Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (two catches, 36 yards) on Thursday.

Jets FS Brodney Pool returned to practice one day after colliding with CB Darrelle Revis.

The collision was accidental, and it appears Pool is in line to start Sunday in Week 9 against Detroit.
