Texans DT Shaun Cody underwent a procedure this week after reportedly suffering broken ribs and a punctured lung in Week 9.

Coach Gary Kubiak refused to shed light on the procedure, offering only that it was for "rib issues." Asked if Cody's lung was indeed punctured, Kubiak replied, "I'm not a doctor." Cody denied Thursday that his lung was punctured. The rotational lineman is out indefinitely.

Texans DT Shaun Cody suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung in Sunday's win over the Bills.

Cody left the game and returned after sustaining the injury. Coach Gary Kubiak termed Cody as "day-to-day" with his injuries. "Shaun has always been able to work through things," Kubiak said Wednesday in his daily news conference. Cody dealt with a back injury earlier this season, but he didn’t miss any regular-season games because of it.

Texans NT Shaun Cody (back) is going to miss "some time."

Cody sustained damage to one of his disks in the Texans' preseason opener. He needed an epidural to relieve the pain. Earl Mitchell will run with the ones at nose tackle going forward.

Texans agreed to terms with DT Shaun Cody on a two-year, $5.75 million extension, including $1.5 million guaranteed.

Coach Gary Kubiak maintains that Cody was his "second-most consistent" defensive lineman last season behind Antonio Smith. New coordinator Wade Phillips is confident that Cody can handle the nose in his 3-4 scheme, so he's set to rotate with Earl Mitchell barring an impact addition.

Free agent DT Shaun Cody is unlikely be back in Houston next season.

Relatively svelte for an interior lineman, he's not a great fit for the 3-4 defense Wade Phillips is installing in Houston. The owner of just two career sacks, Cody could have trouble finding a starting job this offseason after starting 29 games in Houston the past two years.

Texans agreed to terms with DT Shaun Cody on a three-year contract.

Cody, the No. 37 overall pick in 2005, never developed as a pocket pusher in Detroit, but is only 26 and has upside. He'll likely push Travis Johnson at nose tackle. At worst, Cody should help as a rotational run stopper.

Free agent DT Shaun Cody will visit the Saints Monday.

The high second round pick struggled to ever get on the field in Detroit, which isn't the best sign. He would be a backup in New Orleans.

Lions DT Shaun Cody, the No. 37 overall pick in the 2005 draft, is in danger of not making the team.

Cody has the tools to be an effective three technique, but has never been productive. He might've worked out better had he been drafted into a 3-4 and taught to play end. If cut, Cody would likely be snapped up quickly.
