ESPN Dallas reports that the Raiders are interested in free agent LB Kevin Burnett, and a "deal is possible."

The Raiders are remaking their linebacker corps, and Burnett would provide production and leadership on the cheap. Burnett, 30, is coming off a 110-tackle, 2.5-sack campaign where he graded out as the No. 4 4-3 outside linebacker in Pro Football Focus' ratings. Newly signed Nick Roach is currently the Raiders' only viable starter at linebacker.

Dolphins released LB Kevin Burnett.

The writing was on the wall after Miami signed Philip Wheeler to go along with Dannell Ellerbe. Between cutting Burnett and Karlos Dansby, the Dolphins cleared $7.2 million in cap space. Going on 30, Burnett had a strong year as a three-down 'backer in 2012, notching 110 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble across 1,096 snaps. He won't hurt for one-year offers. Miami is gambling by going young and expensive at linebacker, but their defense should be faster to the ball.

Kevin Burnett is practicing was the Dolphins' starting weak-side linebacker.

Koa Misi is at strong side with Karlos Dansby in the middle. WILL and MIKE are historically the two most productive positions in new Dolphins DC Kevin Coyle's system. Burnett could be a 90-100 tackle player if he makes 16 starts.

Dolphins ILB Kevin Burnett underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier in the offseason.

Burnett is participating in minicamp practices, though the level of activity is unclear. With Karlos Dansby sidelined by an undisclosed minor injury, Burnett has been working as the primary inside linebacker in Kevin Coyle's flex defense.

Dolphins ILB Kevin Burnett has graded out as Pro Football Focus' second worst inside linebacker through the season's first three weeks.

Expected to make big plays after being given $9.8 million in guaranteed money to replace Channing Crowder, Burnett has just 10 tackles and zero sacks or interceptions through his first three games in Miami. He has struggled against the run, while allowing six of the seven passes attempted against him to be completed. He'll get his former team San Diego on Sunday.

Dolphins agreed to terms with ILB Kevin Burnett on a four-year, $21 million contract.

Burnett landed $9.8 million guaranteed, which was way more than the Chargers were willing to pay. One of the league's most overlooked linebackers, Burnett graded out exceptionally well in Pro Football Focus' ratings the past two years in San Diego. Though recently released Channing Crowder has been premier a run defender, he was a liability in coverage. Burnett provides a significant upgrade, likely at a similar price. The Bills will have to turn to Plan C at linebacker.

Free agent Kevin Burnett will visit with the Dolphins Friday.

The Dolphins have begun talking contract numbers for Channing Crowder's potential replacement. Burnett is reportedly seeking $5 million per year, exactly what Crowder was scheduled to make in 2011. Per the Miami Herald's Jeff Darlington, the timing of Crowder's departure "wasn't a coincidence."

According to Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 in Buffalo, the Bills have "legitimate interest" in free agent LB Kevin Burnett.

The two sides are expected to resume talks "in a day or two," presumably to allow Burnett to shop around. The San Diego Union-Trib now considers Burnett as good as gone, as he's priced himself out of GM A.J. Smith's plans.

Free agent ILB Kevin Burnett had harsh words for Roger Goodell Wednesday, accusing the commissioner of being "full of it" and a "liar."

"You're a blatant liar," said Burnett. "What have you done, in all honesty, to improve the game, besides fine guys, besides take money away from guys, besides change a game that you've never played?" Burnett doesn't have a contract for 2011. We can't imagine the inflammatory comments are going to go over well with potential suitors once free agency begins.

Chargers ILB Kevin Burnett has undergone offseason neck surgery.

The team's press release says Burnett will be out 3-5 months, but gives no details on the procedure or the date of the surgery. The recovery timetable should have him back on the field in time for training camp.
