Lions signed CB Ron Bartell, formerly of the Raiders.
Bartell was released last week after starting all six of his games with Oakland this season. Although he was a liability in coverage, the 30-year-old is worthy of a flier in Detroit. The Lions need the depth with Jacob Lacey (knee) headed to injured reserve. Tue, Dec 18, 2012 05:23:00 PM

Raiders released CB Ronald Bartell.

Heads continue to roll in Oakland, though Bartell was actually brought in by the new regime. Signed to be a starter, Bartell ended up missing Weeks 2-9 with a neck injury, and wasn't effective when on the field. Injuries have now limited the former Ram to just seven of a possible 29 games the past two seasons. He'll turn 31 in February. Oakland will go forward with Michael Huff and either Joselio Hanson or Phillip Adams at cornerback.

Raiders activated CB Ronald Bartell (shoulder) from injured reserve designated for return.

Bartell will immediately step back into the starting lineup after Oakland released Pat Lee to make room for his return. He and Michael Huff will be the starters with Joseilo Hanson working as the nickel back. The Raiders also placed CB Shawntae Spencer (foot) on injured reserve on Saturday. Bartell has been out since Week 1.

Raiders CB Ronald Bartell (shoulder) is expected to return this week against the Ravens.

Bartell was placed on injured reserve designated for return after Week 1 and has been practicing for the past week or so. Week 10 is the first game that he's eligible to return. Oakland currently ranks No. 21 against the pass and has some serious depth issues, so Bartell's return is definitely welcome. Bartell opened the season as the starting left corner. Pat Lee has been thrust into that spot over the past two months.

Raiders CB Ronald Bartell (shoulder, I.R./designated for return) will resume practicing this week.

Bartell isn't eligible to resume playing in games until Week 10, but his return to the practice field confirms his recovery is moving along as planned. Bartell was signed in the offseason to be Oakland's top cornerback. The 3-4 Raiders have quietly strung together consecutive wins, and reinforcements are on the way.

Coach Dennis Allen stated Friday that CB Ronald Bartell "seems to be on track" to rejoin the lineup when eligible in November.

Bartell, Oakland's top corner, was placed on the injured reserve/designated to return list and is eligible to resume playing in games on November 11 -- Week 10. He can resume practicing on October 27. The Raiders need their front four to keep playing like they did against Matt Ryan to mask the secondary deficiencies.

Raiders placed CB Ronald Bartell (shoulder) on the injured reserve recall list.

Bartell broke his left shoulder blade in Monday night's Week 1 loss to the Chargers. After being a very durable player to start out his career, Bartell has been hit hard with injuries in his last two seasons. He can return to practice as early as October 27th, but can't suit up until Week 10 at the earliest. Pat Lee will step in and man the Raiders' left cornerback spot in Bartell's absence.

Raiders CB Ronald Bartell has been diagnosed with a broken left shoulder blade, and will be sidelined a minimum of four weeks.

Limited to just one game by a severe neck injury last season, Bartell entered Week 1 as the Raiders' starting left corner. He's now in line to miss as much as two months. He'll be replaced by Pat Lee. Bartell was having a rough game in Monday's loss before going down. Bartell had missed only two games in five years before getting hurt in Week 1 last season.

Raiders CB Ronald Bartell is fully healed from the neck injury that forced him to miss all but one game with the Rams last season.

"I've been completely (healed) and 100 percent since about March," Bartell said. "I feel great." He's been told that he's in no increased risk of injury as a result of the neck surgery. Bartell and Shawntae Spencer ran as the starting cornerbacks in Tuesday's practice.

Raiders signed CB Ronald Bartell, formerly of the Rams, to a one-year, $3 million contract.

It's a busy afternoon in Oakland, as Bartell's signing comes on the heels of new guard Mike Brisiel's pact. The top corner left on the market, according to Rotoworld's Evan Silva, Bartell lacked ball skills in St. Louis but had success shadowing opposing No. 1 receivers before last season's neck surgery. Given a clean bill of health by the doctors of the Rams and Raiders, Bartell should slot in as Stanford Routt's replacement.

Free agent CB Ron Bartell will reportedly visit the Raiders.

Bartell was recently released by the Rams in a salary cap move after a fractured neck limited him to one game last season. Bartell finished fifth in Football Outsiders' Success Rate (65 percent) and yards per pass (5.2) back in 2010. Doctors have advised that his neck injury doesn't put him at any increased risk going forward.

Rams released CB Ron Bartell.

The Rams' salary purge continues. Bartell was on the books for $6.2 million next season, a prohibitive number after a broken neck limited him to one game in 2011. He is still rehabbing, and isn't guaranteed to be 100 percent for training camp. Bartell does plan to play in 2012, however, and has been informed he's at no extra risk of injury going forward. A second-round pick in 2005, Bartell was the Rams' longest-tenured defensive player. Old pal Steve Spagnuolo, now New Orleans' defensive coordinator, might show interest if Bartell can pass physicals.

Rams CB Ronald Bartell (fractured neck) said Monday that he plans to play football in 2012.

Bartell, who turns 30 next month, has been informed by doctors that he's at no extra risk after fracturing two bones in his neck in Week 1 of the 2011 season. Bartell is the Rams' longest-tenured defensive player. A new front office will decide whether paying his $6.2 million 2012 salary is worth it.

Rams LCB Ronald Bartell (injured reserve, neck) has been given a clean bill of health.

Bartell's future was up in the air after he fractured his neck in Week 1, but he was able to avoid surgery, and is expected to be 100 percent healthy for 2012. Bartell's 2012 salary of $6.2 million is steep for a player coming off major injury, but the Rams will likely gladly pay it considering the trouble they've had keeping cornerbacks healthy this season.
